Dennis Quaid had never even heard “I Can Only Imagine” before joining the movie of the same name. The movie, which releases March 16, is based on the true story of MercyMe lead singer Bart Millard. He was inspired to write the best-selling Christian song after his father’s death. Quaid, who plays Millard’s father in the film, talks with Kathie Lee Gifford on the Today Show about what drew him to the role.
