6 Steps to Deliver Yourself

Isaiah 52:2 says, “Loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.” Who does this verse say should do the deliverance? You should do it. So here are some steps you can take to cause the supernatural river in you to deliver you—permanently. These simple steps will cause the river in your spirit to start flowing freely, and they will blanket any stronghold with supernatural power. This supernatural power will drive demons out.

Study it. Get full of Bible truth regarding the fact that you are full of God’s supernatural power. Also study scriptures that deal along the lines of your specific issue. Revelation will produce the power of faith from within you. Second Timothy 2:15 says, “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed . . . ”

Know it. Know what you are dealing with and face it. Call it for what it is, and perhaps even write it down on paper. Then accept what God has to say about it and hold on to that truth. John 8:31–32 says, “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Speak it. Start talking about how you have the power to overcome it. Do this not only when the pain or pressure of it is not on you, but especially when it is upon you. The more you speak deliverance, the more it will solidify in you. Declare that you are an anointed vessel of God, well able to drive the demon or problem out. Command the problem to be removed from your life. Matthew 21:21 says, “But also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.”

Pray it. Spend some time every day in prayer about it. Talk to God in faith and with confidence, mixed with a contrite heart. Pray in tongues every day because this is such a powerful key to the supernatural! Luke 22:46 says, “Rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.”

Resist it. Avoid things you used to do that caused you to fail or feel discouraged. Change habits, locations, schedules, and relationships that pull you down. Replace evil with good, negative with positive. Also tell the stronghold to leave in the name of Jesus. James 4:7 says, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Connect it. We all need to be connected with other believers, not so they can do our deliverance, praying, and spiritual work for us, but so the anointing in them can draw out the anointing in us. Proverbs 27:17 says, “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”

These six things will cause the supernatural river of God’s power to manifest on the powers of darkness, if you will be consistent with them. You may be saying, “But these things don’t seem very supernatural!” However, it is often through the things that seem the most ordinary that the supernatural power is released. In fact, that is how God usually works.

Do you remember the story of Naaman in 2 Kings 5? He was a warrior for the king of Syria, but the problem was that he was a leper. You could say he needed deliverance! When the king heard that the prophet Elisha was in Israel, the king decided to send Naaman the leper to the prophet so he could be cured. When Naaman came to Elisha, the prophet told him to wash in the Jordan River (2 Kings 5:10). Naaman became furious at the prophet’s request because he felt the prophet’s planned steps for his deliverance were too ordinary.

In 2 Kings 5:11, Naaman said, “Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the Lord his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.”

In addition to that, we find in verse 12 that Naaman was also angry that the prophet had not only asked him to do something ordinary like wash in a river, but that he even picked a dirty river instead of some of the nicer ones in the region. Naaman wanted the prophet to do some great spectacular thing, but instead he was expected to wash in a muddy river. He didn’t realize that one ordinary, seemingly mundane, and pointless step was going to release the supernatural.

What would happen if every day you would just follow the six steps listed above? You would find that the river of the supernatural God has placed in you would start to flow and bring a miracle to solve your issues. If Naaman had refused to take those steps, the power of God available wouldn’t have been released to help him.

Learning to deliver yourself through the river of God in your own spirit begins with simple steps that at times may seem insignificant, but they are the very thing that will release the power of God to you. They stir the anointing.
