God Desires to Bring Springtime to Your Soul During This Month of Nissan

“This month [Nissan], shall be the beginning of months for you; it is to be the first month of the year to you” (Ex 12:2b, AMP). When we arrive at Nissan, we not only cross over into a new month, but we also pass over into a new year.

So … surprise! It’s a new year! Is it really that surprising? Nissan begins the season of spring when evidence of new life starts to bloom around us. These physical evidences should also open the eyes of our heart to discern His timing and seasons. Truly all of creation does declare the glory of God!

During the long winter months, it appears as if nothing will ever flower again. Most trees stand naked of any leaves. Grasses that were once green have now lain dormant for months. New life seems hopeless. Yet as Nissan appears, the voice of the Lord calls us, saying:

Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. For now the winter has past; the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come,
and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. The fig tree puts forth its green figs, and the vines their blossoms; and they give forth fragrance. Rise up, my love, my beautiful one, and come away (Song 2:10-13, MEV).

In Nissan, the Lord is calling us to awake from the winter and arise into the season of new life… the season of spring!

When spring comes into full swing, it’s as if a miracle has occurred in the earth. In God’s mercy, it has indeed! In fact, the word “Nissan” means “the beginning of miracles!” The earth is being redeemed right before our eyes. All the blossoms of spring went through a process of death in order to rise to new life. This points us to the secret of the season. As Jesus said, “Truly, truly I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit” (John 12:24).

Jesus was referring to Himself before laying down His own life on Passover. However, His desire was to redeem us as well as to redeem all creation. He wants us to start the year in the best way possible, and this begins with accepting His offer of repentance and redemption at Passover. Even His stars call our hearts to His great redemption this month.

The constellation Aries depicts a lamb, but not just any lamb, The Passover Lamb, Yeshua. He is calling us to return to the Lamb and receive redemption by applying His blood over the doorposts of our hearts. The Lord desires us to start the year with our hearts established in His love and forgiveness so we move into the new with a clean heart and a fresh start. Let us take a moment to consider and receive the redemptive blood of the Passover Lamb, Yeshua (see Heb. 10 and 1 Pet. 1:18-25).

Once we have turned to the Lord and been redeemed by His blood, the miracles continue. Knowing we are but dust, He graciously breathes the breath of His Holy Spirit into us (Ps. 103:14) This fresh wind of His Spirit is depicted through the fifth letter of the Hebrew alphabet, called hei, which is connected to Nissan. Hei is a picture of wind blowing through a lattice or a window and has a value of five. Five represents grace. In God’s grace, He revives us by His Holy Spirit so we can rise and bear fruit, just as He did when He was resurrected on First Fruits. Paul declares this truth to us in Romans, If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit that lives in you” (Rom. 8:11).

In this month of redemption. the Lord is calling us to rise, walk and praise Him. Judah is the tribe connected with Nissan and shows us how to move first in praise. The body part and action associated with Nissan is very fitting; for we are called to “continuous walking” with our “right foot.” Our right side is our spiritual side of trust. The Lord bids us to rise up and step with our best foot forward in faith. He instructs us to keep on walking with praise on our lips as we move onward and upward into our future. This is what the Israelites did after the first Passover. They followed the Lord’s direction under Moses and walked forward in faith out of Egypt. When they came to the Red Sea, He made a way through the waters and consumed their enemies—and the miracles continued.

After a long winter, don’t you need reviving? The Lord desires to bring springtime to your soul. Have you been redeemed by the blood of the Passover Lamb, Yeshua? If not, take time to consider His gift to you. He wants you to start the new year with a clean heart (1 John 1:7). If you already know the Lord as your Redeemer, take time during this Passover season to remember how the Lord redeemed you out of slavery (Deut. 15:15). How is The Lord calling you to rise this season? Ask Him to blow His breath of new life new life into those fallow areas of your heart. Are you praising Him in this season of singing (Song 2:12)? May you move forward stepping with your right foot of faith and watch the miracles begin to rise before your eyes in Nissan.
