Do You See Camels on Horizon? Prophetic Significance of This Month of Sivan

Do you see camels on the horizon? That’s the reality of Sivan. The third month of the Hebrew year is connected with the third Hebrew letter called Gimel, which is a picture of a camel. Sounds funny right? However, we will soon discover camels are a perfect depiction of this month of Sivan, the month of provision.

What do you think of when you hear of “camels on the horizon?” If you lived back in biblical times, you would rejoice if you saw camels loaded with treasures on their backs heading to your house. I guess it’s our modern-day equivalent to that feeling we get when we see the UPS truck pull up to our house. There is an excitement because we are about to get something! Provision and supply are heading to our doorstep. This is what this month is all about. And guess what? These special “packages” are from the Giver of all good things, God Himself. So let’s unpack this month and see what’s inside!

The Lord gives many gifts all year long, but it is in Sivan when we see His extravagant gift-giving nature uniquely displayed. The Lord even has a specific day of giving in this month. What day you ask? Well, if you have been tracking with us, we have been following the Lord’s instruction to count 50 days from Yeshua’s resurrection. It is on this final day of the count, known as Pentecost or Shavu’ot, when His special deliveries arrive. On this 50th day of the count, the Lord not only gave the physical provision of the wheat harvest (Lev. 23), but He also gave the spiritual provision of Himself. How so? In the Old Testament we discover He gave us Himself through His Word at Mt. Sinai (Ex. 19). Fast forward to the New Testament and we learn He gave us Himself through the Holy Spirit (Acts 2). His Word and His Spirit were both given on this same exact 50th day. This is not a coincidence nor is it just a story of how the Lord provided for one group of people at one time in history. The Lord is truly the gift that keeps on giving. He offers these gifts of Himself to each of us afresh today!

To gain the full benefit of a gift, we have to not only receive it but actually use it! The Lord knows we are coming into a new harvest and wants us to be fruitful. The gift of His Word offers us the wisdom to move into the new with truth and love while the gift of His Spirit empowers us with supernatural strength and abilities not our own. These gifts are right on time, sitting at our doorstep with our name on them and are just waiting to be opened! Once we open and use these sacred gifts, may we be reminded of what most mothers say: “Don’t forget to say, ‘Thank you!'” Giving thanks to the Lord is not only kind and courteous, but it actually benefits us as well. Thanksgiving focuses our attention back on Him, the true gift and source of our joy. Lastly, the gift-giving process would not be complete if we didn’t share our gift with others. Ask the Lord for opportunities to share Him with others this month. He may call you to share your time or resources with another in need. Be sensitive to hear His voice and ready to saddle up on one of His camels to bring provision to others.

When we think of provision, we cannot help but think of financial provision and that is on the Lord’s heart too. In fact, the tribe of this month, Zebulun, were successful businessmen. Zebulun led Israel forth in trade. They were gifted with the ability to prosper in commerce. In this “business person’s month,” may we review our business practices and finances and learn from the tribe of Zebulun. Some of us may be considering a new job or need a fresh wind from Him over our current occupation. He knows the plans He has for us and He is good to lead us into them. All we have to do is ask. “Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us and confirm for us the work of our hands. Yes, confirm the work of our hands” (Ps 90:18).

Are you feeling overwhelmed or weary? Behold! The Lord is sending camels to your door with sacred gifts of His refreshment! Open up His Word, breathe in His Spirit afresh and be revived! Are you concerned about your finances? Do you need wisdom in the work He is called you to do? Ask Him to confirm the work of your hands. Take care of any “unfinished business” He brings to your heart. Take some time to list the ways He has provided for you and thank Him. Also, consider how you can provide for others, be it with your time or money and discover the truth that “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). {eoa}
