From Debt-Ridden to Billionaire: Transforming Culture for the Kingdom

Billionaire Dave Hodgson from the Sunshine Coast in Australia says if Christian businesses changed how they did business, they could transform cities and society.

Following the wisdom of Malcolm Gladwell’s 2013 book The Tipping Point, he says we only need 6% of the businesses in a city to change how they operate to create a tipping point that transforms a city.

This is the basis of a new movement in Australia to help transform the society for the kingdom of God. This movement is spearheaded by Dave Hodgson’s Kingdom Investors. Key to that movement are Christians discovering God’s “assignment” for their lives, getting rid of greed and corruption and striving to make every business transaction a win-win proposition.

Hodgson says when he started to follow these principles that his business went from being $70,000 in debt to over $100 million profit in 2 years and 8 months. His net worth is now more than $1.2 billion. Much of his fortune has come from purchasing businesses in distress during economic downturns like now and turning them around through kingdom principles.

Hodgson says his first goal is to turn Australia into the world’s first “sheep nation” as Jesus outlined in Matthew 25. A “sheep nation” is one that takes care of the poor and most disenfranchised in society and where sharing and caring causes all to be lifted out of poverty.

Hodgson then wants Australia to become a prototype for the rest of the world. In 2019, his movement, together with many Christians, helped elect a Spirit-filled prime minister in what CNN called a “miracle election.”

Next week Hodgson headlines a global virtual summit open to all. Details can be found here.
