The Missing Piece Between the Amen and ‘There It Is’ in Your Prayers

There is a time between our prayer and amen to the moment of “There it is.”

Many of us right now are going through difficult times, whether it be in our health, our finances, our jobs or our families. Many of these issues may seem as if there is no way out.

Many of us have gone from our knees to our face in prayer and when we were through, we finished it with “Amen.” When you finish a prayer with “Amen,” you are essentially saying, “It is so,” or “So be it.”

So what do you do after the “amen” and the “There it is”? First, you must be in a continual state of thanks and praise, for God and all of heaven already know what you need.

Think of prayer as a seed planted with faith, that with time, the seed will germinate, break through the soil and grow into a beautiful plant. When you pray, you must thank God as if your prayers have already been answered. Just as the seedling breaks through the soil, your breakthrough will come after the amen and along with your thanks and praise until you see the plant come forth as your answered prayer, the “There it is.”

John 6:11 is a good example of giving thanks before the “There it is.” “Jesus then took the loaves, and when He had given thanks, He distributed them to those who were seated, and the disciples to those who were sitting down; and likewise, they distributed the fish, as much as they wanted.”

Giving thanks turned not enough into more than enough. Thanksgiving opens the gates of heaven to deliver miraculous provision.

This observation shows there is a missing piece between our amen and “There it is,” and that is “thank you,” before anything is done for us concerning our prayer and petitions.

Another example is from Philippians 4: 6-7 (ESV), which reads, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” (emphasis added).

Another reminder is in Hebrews 11:6 (NIV), which reads, “Without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

When you pray, be sure to thank God in advance before your amen, and you will see the “There it is” sooner than later. Your unwavering faith, your thanks and praise will accelerate that answer to your prayer.

When you say amen, you are really saying, “Lord, I believe it, and “So be it!”  Amen is a word that affirms that what you have prayed about or asked for will be. It means you are in agreement with God that He has heard your prayer and will answer it. It is a word of confidence and agreement.

Jesus is God’s amen, and “all the promises of God find their Yes in Him. That is why it is through Him that we utter our Amen to God for His glory” (2 Cor. 1:20, ESV).

God answers prayer. During the waiting period, stay thankful, stay faithful. You have affirmed that your answer will come when you said amen.

Prayer is like planting that seed, watering it with faith and thanksgiving and letting it germinate with the full expectation that it will break through the well-tended soil.

So it goes with us. We pray, we declare “so be it” and amen, we give thanks and expect the breakthrough.

Between the seed time (prayer and amen) and the harvest (“There it is), it is up to you to speak life, speak health and be in a continual state of thanksgiving and praise.

God’s promises are yes and amen.
