What Is Your Prophetic Warning?

God wants to anoint you with His grace through your unique prophetic wiring to impact the body of Christ in the place He has called you! He will do that in as many diverse ways as there are people, personalities, and gift mixes across the face of the earth.

I cannot emphasize enough how big God is. We see an almost bewildering variety of gifts, anointing’s, ministries and combinations across the body of Christ.

Yet even with such diversity, everything is under the governance of the same Lord: “There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all” (1 Cor. 12:4–6, NKJV).

God empowers you with His anointing—the supernatural enablement, grace and manifest presence of the Holy Spirit operating upon or through you to produce the works of Jesus.

This supernatural enablement or grace brings the presence of the Holy Spirit to bear upon countless situations. Energized by the same God and Father, prophetic believers bring forth a wide variety of gifts, ministries and effects—always under the direction of the Spirit of the Lord God.

The way the Holy Spirit manifests Himself will look different in its expression from culture to culture, race to race, country to country and from one denomination to another. That is to be expected—and celebrated!

We have a great big God who can reach into all the hidden places, public and private, with His love and power. Your part is to collaborate with Him.

What Is Your Unique Prophetic Expression?

I remember walking into a conference in Minneapolis. I saw a lady up on the platform and she was painting a picture. I could tell immediately that she had received professional training, and that she had surrendered her gifts to a specialized prophetic anointing.

She was “painting in the Spirit” with skill and grace. Many prophetic people are artists, poets, singers, musicians and artisans. The Lord takes their sensitivity and training and couples it with His anointing to bring them into places where they can have real influence on the society around them for the sake of His kingdom.

There are also prophetic writers who express prophetic messages best in written form; in fact, they are often better at writing something than they are at speaking in public. When they write, whether they pen books, articles, poems or song lyrics, they express the heart of God to contemporary society.

We also have prophetic teachers. They are not merely prophets who happen to be asked to teach something, but teachers whose subject matter comes alive under God’s anointing. The content of their teaching shines with clarity and applicability.

Prophetic evangelists are ones who step out into places where they can interact with the people who have not yet responded to the gospel message. They are not afraid of the unknown as they work (most effectively teamed up with others) to speak prophetically on the streets, retail stores, health clubs and neighborhoods of their God-assigned localities. Often, signs and wonders occur as they share the love of Christ, and they can carry the Good News right into newly opened hearts.

Usually working one on one, prophetic counselors understand what an integrated model of wholeness looks like. They combine their spiritual gifts with professional training to help bring people’s hearts and minds into alignment with the love and will of God.

There are even prophetic entrepreneurs! Energized by the Spirit, they start new businesses, patent new inventions and bring forth prophetic solutions to today’s practical needs. They do something to benefit others with their inspired ideas.

Then there are people whom I call prophetic Spirit-bearers. They not only practice the presence of God in their own lives, but they also release supernatural manifestations of God’s glorious presence wherever they walk. Sometimes drastic responses occur: falling in the Spirit, quaking and shaking, ecstatic speech and more. When they show up, so do power encounters, angelic activity and kingdom clashes.

When a prophetic anointing saturates a blend of spiritual and natural gifts, you will see God in action—guaranteed.

You may wonder: What kind of prophet am I and where have I been assigned? The enemy may try to keep you from grasping your call or stop you from fulfilling it, but if you cling closely to God, He will see you through.

Seek Him

Our heavenly Father always gives good gifts to His children and to those who ask (see Matt. 7:10 and Luke 11:11). Sometimes the only reason you cannot see your gifts in a prophetic light is because you have not asked to see them with God’s eyes. In other words, you have not because you ask not (see James 4:2).

Do not limit the empowering work of God’s Spirit to what you have been exposed to in the past. Plunge in. Go deeper.

Do not get tied up in knots about which gift or what kind of a call you may have.

God is going to express Himself through whatever and whoever He has made you to be, so you can find peace in that knowledge and be at complete liberty to respond to Him.

Stretch out your heart and say, “Lord, I ask You to express Your prophetic Spirit through me.” Allow your hunger and thirst to rise up.

You were created for something special in the Kingdom. As you lean into Him, He will anoint you with His grace through your unique prophetic wiring to impact the body of Christ in the place He has called you!
