How God Sees You

Have you ever thought about or embraced the incredible truth that you are a child of God?

You probably have no problem accepting that Jesus died on the cross so your sins are forgiven, that God answers your prayers or that one day you will go to heaven. But have you ever taken your relationship with God to the next level and actually received and acknowledged the reality that you are His child? Think about how a father or a mother feels about their child. They are so proud of their child. Their love is so focused on that child. They have such a delight in that child. Beloved, that is exactly how our heavenly Father feels about us!

“For you are all sons [and daughters] of God through faith in Christ Jesus” (Gal. 3:26).

Because of Jesus, God has removed the barrier that separated us from Him because of sin—it is gone forever. You now have complete access to God. He sees you as brand new, having all of your past failures erased by the blood of Jesus. You are born again as a child of God unto a loving Father.

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come” (2 Cor. 5:17, NASB 1995).

You are now His child. His Spirit is bearing witness with your spirit that you are His child—how beautiful, how wonderful and how amazing! When the Lord looks at you, He does not see you as a sinful person; Jesus took your sins away. Now, Father looks at you as the child in whom He continually delights. We really need to understand and grasp this.

Yes, it is essential to understand the legal aspects of salvation: that Jesus died for your sin, and that without Jesus’ death on the cross and His shed blood, there could be no forgiveness. But you also need to recognize and walk in the knowledge that Jesus changed it all, which means that today, you can be assured that Father could not love you anymore than He loves you right now—this very moment. You are His child!

Just like any earthly father who loves his child, your heavenly Father may discipline you at times, but you need to understand that this does not change how He feels about you.

“It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons” (Heb. 12:7-8).

Beloved, what I want to impart into your heart and spirit is that God, just like any loving father, will always have your best interest at heart. We need to put our total trust and faith in Him.

“For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name… [That You] may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God” (Eph. 3:14-15, 18-19).

There is something very special in you. There is a treasure within you that is so weighty, so glorious, so valuable and so rich to God that He rejoices over it. Not only were you created in His image, but His own Spirit lives within you. How incredibly precious and valuable you must be to God! You are truly His child. Father delights in you and is proud of you. He has wonderful plans for you that are far greater than anything you can think of.

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints” (Eph. 1:18).

You just need to begin to look to Him to affirm you. You need to stop looking to other people to tell you who you are. Instead, you need to turn your attention to the Father and become more sensitive to His Spirit.

When God looks at you, He is not mad. In fact, He is glad. He has already taken out His wrath on sin upon Jesus. As children of God, we need to learn how to get our identity from the one who originally gave us life. God’s Spirit is bearing witness with our spirit that we are His children. God is not going to love you more when you are more perfect than He loves you and I right now.

“The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirits that we are the children of God” (Rom. 8:16, MEV).

Remember, the Word of God is living and the very essence of truth.

Beloved, I want to encourage you to pray this out loud every day for the next month:

I want to thank you, Father, that your Spirit is bearing witness with my spirit that I am your child. Teach me to become more sensitive to your Spirit. Father, help me to understand more fully that I am Your child and how much You love me. I love You, Daddy, and I put my entire life in Your hands.{eoa}
