Do You Truly Know Who God Is?

The term “heart” is one of the most commonly used terms in the Bible, appearing more than 830 times. Yet so many of us go through life with only head knowledge of who God is, instead of taking it deeper to fully understanding Him with heart knowledge. This recent episode of the Exploring More podcast on the Charisma Podcast Network will encourage you to learn more about the heart of our loving Father.

Host Michael Thompson brings up the fact that “it’s very, very difficult to trust something or someone, that you don’t love. And it’s very difficult to love someone that you don’t trust.”

Scott Jennings adds, “You can’t do either, though, if you don’t know the person. … So how do we know who God is? How do we know His heart?”

Referring to 1 Corinthians 13, Jennings says, “When Paul is writing about love, he’s really writing about Jesus. He’s really writing about God.” And through understanding this passage more, Jennings says it was one of the first times he “caught a glimpse of the heart of God towards us.”

Tom Benner points out that we often think God’s character is based upon our experiences with people or our own performance. But he says, “God’s character is not defined by what we do or what the people in our life have done.”

What view of God do you have? Do you know that His heart is for you, or do you still struggle to see Him as a good, good Father? Be encouraged in these questions by listening to the full discussion here. {eoa}
