3 Rules for a Prosperous Life

Time has a funny way of making us reprioritize what is important in life, as well as how we view our relationship with God.

When Benny Hinn sat down with Charisma Media founder Stephen Strang for an episode of the Strang Report podcast, he did more than just discuss mistakes he had made in the past, he also shared three key areas of advice he would give his younger self, and all young people entering ministry.

In his 50th year of ministry in 2024, Hinn has had his share of ups and downs, victories and failures. Living in the latter-season of life that he now finds himself in, Hinn described wisdom he would have appreciated when he was a young minister, to stay grounded in the Lord and His will.

  1. Build a reservoir of the Word of God in your heart. “So when the troubles come, you [will] know what to do,” Hinn says. And the troubles will eventually come for any and every person who declares Jesus Christ is Lord. According to the King of kings’ own words in John 16:33, “…In the world you will have tribulation. But be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.”
  2. Cling to the Lord with all your mind. “Only the Word within your heart can help you cling to the Lord,” Hinn shares. By holding tight to the Lord, we prevent wandering from taking place. Instead of leaving His presence in the pursuit of fleshly desires, we stay within His perfect place and prevent sin from taking over our lives as Psalm 119:11 says, “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”
  3. Stay with your call. “The reason that’s important is because anything outside the call is sin,” Hinn reveals. “It was King Uzziah [who] was called to be a king (2 Chron. 26). And one day wanted to be a priest, and he became a leper. Leprosy is symbolic of sin in the Bible. Look what happened to Saul and so on.”

Prayer, studying the Word of God and developing a personal relationship with God are all things every Christian should strive to deepen in their life, and these are what Hinn points to as a necessity for ministry.

“The most important thing that any young 18-year-old can really do is know the mind of God, know the concept of God,” Hinn says. “And the Bible is really clear in Psalm 119, because it talks about how the Word of God, the Scriptures, are so powerful, to help us live holy. And this is when prayer becomes really [important] in our life, because of the Word of God in us.”
