It’s true that God speaks to us through His Word.

In a message on Psalm 83, Jonathan Cahn shared the prophetic, end times importance around Psalm 83 in relation to Israel.

“Those who are enemies of Israel in the Bible are enemies of God,” Cahn says. “He’s the Messiah of Israel. He will fight for Israel.”

What do the enemies of Israel have to do with Psalm 83?

Psalm 83:1-4 says:

“Do not keep Your silence, O God; do not hold Your peace or be still, O God. For, look, Your enemies make an uproar, and those who hate You have lifted up their heads. They have given crafty counsel against Your people, and have consulted against Your treasured ones. They have said, ‘Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Israel may be no more remembered.'”

This is a heartfelt plea from the Israelites, crying out to God for help in fighting off those who seek to destroy them. It echoes the Israelites’ cry for God’s protection. Since God does not change, He viewed the Israelites as His people then, and He continues to see them as His people now.

“There have been shrewd plans made against the Jewish people for thousands of years,” Cahn says. “From the courts of Pharaoh to the Nazi conference…where they made plans, secret plans, to implement the Holocaust, to the plans that were made by Hamas just a little while ago.”

Cahn says there’s a hidden piece to this puzzle that you would not know just by looking at the English text of Scripture.

“The word in Psalm 83 about the enemies of Israel…is the word in Hebrew, ‘Aram,'” Cahn says.

The first time this word appears is in Genesis 3:1, which refers to Satan as being shrewd.

“This is the first reference, illusion, to Satan and the first adjective for the enemy,” Cahn says. “These enemies of Israel are connected to the serpent. Behind anti-Semitism is Satanism.”

Cahn showed a map of the ancient enemies of Israel. When compared to the map for Israel’s independence, these are the same nations who wanted to wipe out Israel centuries earlier.

Cahn isn’t the only taking note of Psalm 83 and its significance about anti-Semitism. L.A. Marzulli also discussed the potential outbreak of violence that could happen with Damascus.

“We’re seeing the anti-Semitism being ratcheted up in ways that I haven’t seen,” Marzulli says. “I think there’s a possibility when you look at the prophetic pulse of what’s going on in the Middle East, the possibility of Psalm 83—the destruction of Damascus.”

Cahn further says that Psalm 83 comes into fulfillment in two distinct time periods: When Israel is about to become a nation and when it is about to be restored. The next thing that both Cahn and Marzulli say we should look out for is Ezekiel 38. This is the prophecy about Gog and Magog.

While Psalm 83 is a prophetic prayer for the safety of the Israelites, it is also relevant for all of us who confess Christ as Lord. As chosen ones by God, we will encounter unique difficulties and struggles. However, He will be the shield and rock for His people in all times and circumstances.
