An explosion rocked the city of Abuja on Thursday, June 16. This time around the perpetrators of this act took the battle to the doorstep of the Nigerian Police force headquarters also known as the Louis Edet building.

Though no group or persons have claimed responsibility for this attack at the time of writing this report, it is believed to be the handiwork of Boko Haram, the Islamic sect that has been responsible for multiple series of bomb attacks at different places in Nigeria, especially in the north of the country.

According to some unconfirmed sources, the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Hafiz Ringim, may have been the prime target of the suspected suicide bombing attack. On June 15, members of Boko Haram threatened to escalate attacks across Nigeria as a result of statements credited to the Inspector-General of police. Lots of vehicles at the car park were destroyed and many people sustained injuries. Two suspected suicide bombers and a police officer died immediately as a result of the impact of the explosion; it is yet to be ascertained the total number of casualties.

The Bible League Staff at the national office in Abuja are safe and OK. The staff aks for prayers for peace to be firmly established in the country, and that political leaders there will have the courage and wisdom to do what is always right and just in the sight of God.
