“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” Numbers 23:19 NKJV
If you have been hurt, betrayed, insulted, or let down by any man, there is good news: God is not a man. I’m not saying God is a woman. He is far more than either a man or a woman. He is the Creator, the source of all life and the only unfailing source of all we need.
There is no way we can avoid being hurt in human relationships. Yet even if you have been hurt by your earthly father, you should not be afraid to approach your Heavenly Father. He is the perfect One who cares about you more than you could ever imagine.
When people are our source for value and truth, we often end up hurt when we believe what they say over what God says. God cannot lie, for He is Truth. His perspective is never skewed or obscured. He cannot be bribed or deceived. What a relief that no person or demon can ever coax the One who planned our destiny into changing it!
We cannot look to people as the source of things only God can supply. He declares our value and worth. He is the only One worthy of our lives. Have you unknowingly placed your value in other people? Do you look to them as the primary source of security or encouragement? If so, pray:
Father, I’m sorry for being afraid or delayed in coming to You. I repent for trying to find my value in other people, and I commit to making a change. You are the source of my worth. Only in You can I find my true value. Holy Spirit, I let down my walls. I choose to let Your truth in. In Jesus’ name, amen.
