EMMANUEL: “GOD WITH US”

He is Emmanuel—God with us—not just at Christmas but always, 24/7/365, He can be counted on to be true to His Word and His promises.

He was so faithful when He sent His Son Jesus—Emmanuel.

As we close out another year and contemplate what’s up ahead in 2022, I can’t help but think about the faithfulness of our God. I’m excited about the future because I’ve read the end of the book!

To our natural eye, it may look like the devil is getting the upper hand. We hear on a daily basis how God’s power and authority are being mocked by Satan and his crowd. We’re fed a steady stream of sound bites about the economic crisis and the state of the world in general. And we know there’s a moral crisis. But let me remind you… None of these facts dilute God’s miracle-working power or His ability to keep His hand of protection upon you. The light of His love still shines brightly in a darkened world.

God is so good! All the time! He watches over His children…and that’s you and me. He is faithful to His Word…He watches over His Word to perform it and it always produces what it’s sent out to do (Rom. 4:21; Isa. 55:11).

Be encouraged today in God’s love for you and His faithfulness. Never lose hope. Don’t set your eyes on the things of this world. Don’t look to the government or a job or other people to make you happy, to supply what’s lacking or to fulfill the need in your heart that only God can fill.

God will always make a way where there seems to be no way and He will not let you down. Not now nor ever!

Remember Isaac in the Bible? In Genesis chapter 26, verse 3 (KJV), he wanted to run away to Egypt because there was a famine in the land. But God spoke to Isaac, saying, “Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee.”

Isaac obeyed the Lord and in verses 12 and 13 (NKJV), we learn, “Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great.”

I understand the feeling of just wanting to run or hide to try to get out of the situation or circumstances we’ve found ourselves in.

But I believe that God would have us “bloom where we’re planted” so to speak. God may have put you in a particular job or a particular neighborhood or church so that YOUR light can shine in the darkness. As you walk in God’s love, and as people watch your attitude and the way you handle situations in a joyful and godly way, you may be influencing people for the kingdom of God that you’re not even aware of.

And I believe also that when we continue to plant our seeds of faith…even in the lean times and in the dark hours…God will reward us. He will bless us just as He did Isaac. You know why? Because Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever… What He’s done for others, He’ll do for you.

Don’t forget… Declare it every day… God is faithful and His promises are true. “…his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness” (Lam. 3:22-23).
