Why John the Baptist Didn’t Entirely Fulfill the Elijah Prophecy

The Lord told Zechariah in Luke 1:17 that John the Baptist would walk in the spirit and power of Elijah. But has Malachi’s Elijah prophecy been completely fulfilled?

Those who believe in replacement theology believe John the Baptist was the final fulfillment of the Elijah prophecy. But those who don’t adhere to that theology believe there is another aspect to the prophecy that has yet to come to pass.

The prophetic word comes from Malachi 4:5-6, which says, “See, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreaded day of the Lord. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”

Watch Revive Israel’s Dan Juster speak about a great ministry of family reconciliation to come before the Lord returns.
