There are a lot of voices competing for space on the airwaves these days. So, how do we know which voices to listen to?
“Listen to the voices who are staying within the bounds of Genesis to Revelation,” says Erin Olson, host of The Depot Podcast with Erin Olson on a recent episode on the Charisma Podcast Network. “We don’t need prophetic voices proclaiming new visions and new events. We need people who are willing to preach and teach what the written Word of God says. It is timeless, and there are so many valuable lessons we can learn from it and, especially, the prophets of old.”
Prophets like Jeremiah and Ezekiel lived during volatile, uncertain and scary times for God’s people. The people of God found themselves either living in battle-weary cities or as exiles in foreign, pagan lands. None of it caught God by surprise. God used the prophets to warn and teach His people what to do and what not to do. He did this not to harm them, but to encourage them, equip them and draw them close. He does the same thing for us today because He loves us.
On a recent episode titled Keep Living, Erin spoke about the ways in which we should keep living during hard times, as well as which prophetic voices we should be listening to. You can listen to what she had to say here.
