Kamala Harris delivered her concession speech at Howard University after losing last night’s election to Donald Trump. Her speech comes after her supporters were asked to leave last night’s celebration once it became clear she likely would not win the presidency.
“My heart is full today. Full of gratitude for the trust you have placed in me, full of love for our country, and full of resolve,” Harris, says.

Harris thanked the Bidens, her husband, Doug, Tim Walz and his family, along with her team. Harris did not formally congratulate Trump on the stage, and instead referenced a phone call that she took with him earlier in the day.

“We must accept the results of this election. Earlier today, I spoke with President-elect Trump and congratulated him on his victory. I also told him that we will help and his team with their transition. And, that we will engage in a peaceful transfer of power,” Harris says.
Harris encouraged the crowd to continue fighting for the things her campaign promised, including pro-choice policies.
“I concede this election. I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign,” Harris said, to loud applause.
She further discussed hard work and asked her supporters to keep up their political fight with the hope that they will someday win.
“I know many people feel like we are entering a dark time. But for the benefit of us all, I hope that is not the case. But here’s the thing; America, let us fill the sky with the light of a billion brilliant stars…the light of optimism, of faith, of truth and service.”
