You feel the pressure to have all the answers; be the perfect wife; make everyone happy; and, be a saint of a mother. It becomes an enormous amount of weight that Christ never intended us to carry. (Remember: Christ tells us that His burden is light!)
Unfortunately, the other choice is equally dangerous. We then choose to rebel against the calling and demonstrate an “I don’t care what you think” attitude. Each of these choices leaves ministry wives bitter and disqualifies them for the fulfilling call of God on their lives.
I love the way Philippians 1:27 instructs us. It has become a benchmark for my ministry: “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ . . .” (NIV).
Simply put, God has called each of us to live our lives in a way that lines up with the beauty and worthiness of His gospel.
God offers you an abundant life as a minister’s wife! But, it is our choice to accept the gift He offers us. As we surrender to Him and allow the Holy Spirit to work in our lives, He will give us everything we need for every moment.
Ask yourself: How can I fulfill the calling on my life in a way that honors the gospel? When you do this, it forces your eyes off of yourself and even your congregation and onto Him. If you want to be healthy, joyful, and productive, keep your eyes focused on Jesus!
