Time For A Revolution

Recently Charisma magazine reported on a crusade in Nigeria that was hosted by German evangelist Reinhard Bonnke. During the six days of the crusade, a record number of people–3.4 million–made decisions to receive Christ.

In a television interview not long after the crusade Bonnke said:”The tide is coming in! The immovable is now movable; the impossible is now possible; the incurable is now curable!”

I believe Bonnke’s comment was a prophetic statement about the spiritual atmosphere in the world today. Many leaders, both Christian and secular, have sensed a turning of the spiritual tide. Related to the recent change of leadership in our nation, a secular newscaster declared that “God is in,” and U.S. News & World Report raised the question, “Is America undergoing a spiritual awakening?”

Will You Ignite a Righteous Revolution?

God is looking for believers who are willing to fight to restore the biblical foundations in our country. Are you ready to answer the call?

When I was a child, one of my favorite parts of the school day was when my teacher would open her big black Bible and read us a Scripture verse. After that, we would all fold our hands and bow our heads as she led us in a short prayer. We would pray for our country, teachers, school and generally, anything else that needed prayer. Nobody complained. It was as natural as breathing or standing up to salute the flag.

But these activities came to a screeching halt on June 25, 1962, when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the Engel v. Vitale case that prayer should be taken out of public school. In one fell swoop millions of students and teachers were barred from praying in the classroom.

Walking by the Spirit

Some christians beleive being Spirit-Led applies to only one aspect of their lives. But God wants us to be guided by Him in all areas.

One day shortly before the November 2000 presidential election, I came home from work and found my son listening to sound clips on his computer that had been posted on Rush Limbaugh’s Web site. The clips were recordings of the voices of women who, previously unsure about their choice for president, had de-cided to vote for Al Gore. Their reason? He had kissed his wife publicly before giving his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention!

“It made my knees go weak,” one woman commented. Another said she nearly swooned when she observed Gore’s public display of affection. Several admitted that the kiss alone had caused them to become avid Gore supporters.

The House That Hope Built

Sara Trollinger has established a much-needed haven for Teenagers who are battered by life’s storms.

Published reports on the state of the American family often reveal problems due to parental neglect and teen-age rebellion. But House of Hope, an outreach to teens and their families based in Orlando, Florida, has become a national model for ministries seeking to bring about family recovery and reconciliation.

Jesus, Save Me!

My pastor’s first job after Bible college was that of associate pastor in a small church. One of his assignments was to visit shut-ins and new church members.

Hoping to make a good impression and build rapport with those whom he visited, he applied some newly acquired word-association techniques to help in remembering his hosts’ names.

On one visit, he interspersed the couple’s last name throughout the prayer and ended with a blessing: “And Father, please bless Mr. And Mrs. Butts and the whole Butts family. Amen.”

Pandita Ramabai – Champion of Women’s Rights

Throughout the history of India it was traditionally men who were concerned with improving the status of women. It was not until the late 19th and early 20th centuries that a number of influential women reformers arose. The most notable of these was Pandita Ramabai.

Pandita was born in 1858 into an orthodox Hindu Brahmin family. This upper-caste sect mandated prepubertal marriage for girls and denied women educational opportunities. However, Pandita’s father was a priest, scholar and social reformer who had a liberal, progressive view of the caste system. While traveling on endless pilgrimages throughout India he gave public lectures on the need of women for education. He provided Pandita an extensive formal education with a focus on Sanskrit.

Pandita soon became a famed lecturer who, like her father, championed women’s rights. She had witnessed the suffering of child widows and the uneducated and wanted to help them. Oppressed women became her first call to service.

Are You Praying for Leaders?

If you are especially burdened to intercede for governmental authorities, it’s possible you’ve been anointed for a special assignment.

Who can forget the memorable Wednesday night in January 1991 when television viewers watched with astonishment as the Gulf War unfolded before our very eyes? The war appeared to be a struggle over Kuwait’s crude oil. However, oil is symbolic of power, both physically and spiritually.

Saddam Hussein did not count on the fact that God’s people would gather throughout the land to pray. Not unlike the prideful Goliath, Hussein was swiftly defeated and made the laughingstock of the entire world. God honors the prayers of His government intercessors!

God’s Word Prevailed

My oldest son was killed in a car accident on September 26, 1984. Recovery wasn’t an easy process for me, but God healed my broken heart, mended my shattered emotions and put me back together again. He began to show me the power of prayer and most of all, the importance of standing on His Word for my loved ones and myself.

One night as I was praying with my 16-year-old daughter, the Holy Spirit led me to pray more protection over her than usual. According to Isaiah 43:17 and Psalm 91:11, I prayed that no weapon formed against her would prosper and that angels would be all about her.

Little did I know what was ahead! But the Holy Spirit was way ahead of the devil!
