Can Toxic Thoughts Harm Your Liver?

By detoxifying your physical body, you begin a process that will help you cleanse and transform your thoughts and emotions as well. As you pour fresh live juices and veggie smoothies into your body, they will push out toxic substances that have been stored in tissues, fluids and cells.  Emotions attached to toxic substances often surface when you cleanse, especially during a liver cleanse. You can assist this process by allowing old thought patterns and emotions to come into full consciousness during detoxification and then release them and let them go. Sometimes, you may need to “dig up” others and release them so you can be free.

The first step in the process of letting go is to identify unhealthy thoughts. You may not be aware that some of your thinking, which may seem quite routine and normal, is actually toxic. You may have grown up in a negative family, and such thinking seems routine. Or maybe you’ve just thought critically or pessimistically for years because of circumstances in your life.  This is not normal.  Loving and positive thoughts are normal.  Daily examination of your thinking is a process that can help you root out these thoughts and replace them with positive life-giving words.

Toxic thinking releases harmful chemicals, as many as 1200 at a time, that can flood the system and harm organs such as our liver. Become aware of when you think negative thoughts. Here are some examples of how you can transform destructive, self-defeating thinking into positive thoughts.  The next time a thought comes to mind such as “I hate my life,” or “what I long for is never going to happen,” you can choose to think, “I’m working on finding my purpose, which will is life-giving” or “I know those good things are on the way.” If you think, “I’m never going to find a job I enjoy,” you can say, “the right job awaits me; someone needs my skills and talents.” If you think about your poor health and are tempted to think you’ll never be healthy and full of life again, you can choose to think, “The juicing and cleansing I’m doing and all the good choices I’m making will produce better health. I’m getting better and healthier every day.” Intercept all negativity as soon as it pops into your mind. You can say something like, “I cancel that thought” or whatever you choose to keep your mind from dwelling on negative, destructive, thinking. As you practice this daily, you’ll build a new habit of positive thinking. You will see your life change.

This is an excerpt adapted from our book Juicing, Fasting, and Detoxing for Life by my husband, Father John.  He will be teaching Mental Detox at our Juice and Raw Foods Cleanse Retreat, April 30-May 5. You can still register for the retreat.

Monday begins our 30-Day Detox. There is still time to join. If you want to order the Internal Cleanse Kit, it is still back-ordered. We’re waiting to hear when the kits will arrive and ship. I will extend the start date for a second group to all who want to get a kit and do the 30-day detox.

Asparagus is a natural diuretic, which helps flush toxins from the body and promotes kidney cleansing.
