The countdown is on the official
website and on the profiles of Facebook users everywhere. Beginning
Aug. 3, Jesus Culture will take stage at Allstate Arena in Chicago to
mobilize a new generation for Christ and to pray for thousands of
hearts to be set aflame.
Jesus Culture believes God will use the
three-day event, Jesus Culture Awakening 2011, to fulfill a vision of
raising healing revivalists. Founder Banning Liebscher shares the
desire of the worship team. “The Lord’s given us a mandate to raise
up emerging leaders who will be in every part of society—media,
education, politics, business—to find them now and to walk with
them for the next 30 years.”
What lies before Jesus Culture is their
“biggest challenge yet.” By the close of Aug. 5, Jesus Culture
hopes to have awakened 18,000 youth and young adults—only a small
percentage of the 1 billion prophesied to be touched in what many key
prophetic leaders are declaring the verge of “the greatest
spiritual harvest in human history.”
Several of these prophetic leaders will
join in the arena gathering. Teachings from influential leaders
including Reinhard Bonnke, Lou Engle and Bill Johnson are
anticipated.
On their website Jesus Culture states
their belief that “youth and young adults everywhere will be marked
by God as revivalists and we will see entire cities come to know the
Lord.”
“We want people to encounter God’s
presence obviously in worship,” explains worship leader Chris
Quilala. “But we also want them to really taste what signs and
wonders are and realize that God wants to touch them—and that they
can take this out in their cities.”
The compelling Australian worship band
Hillsong United will also raise their hearts and voices to the Lord,
aiding the surge in youth that, in four days will be revivalists.
