Iverna Tompkins, renowned Pentecostal Bible teacher, pastor and author, died Dec. 27 at age 95 in Scottsdale, Arizona. In 1985, she founded and directed Scottsdale Christian Training Center for mentoring pastors, leaders and their spouses, training hundreds in less than 10 years. Traveling and speaking to international audiences, she also co-founded Women of the Word Conference, with headquarters in Montreat, North Carolina. She wrote 13 books on popular charismatic and Pentecostal topics, including “If It Please the King,” “God’s Ravished Heart” and “Advancing in the Prophetic.”
Tompkins received a Doctor of Divinity degree from Sweetwater Bible College in 1989 and served for years as executive pastor at Church for the Nations in Phoenix, Arizona, where she was later named pastor emeritus. Senior Pastor Michael Maiden announced Tompkins’ death on social media:

Maiden also mentioned the late pastor in his morning message on Dec. 29, noting that on the previous Friday, “My dear friend and mentor, Dr. Iverna Tompkins, went to be with Jesus. She was 95 years old, and she was ready. She was ready for heaven.”
Renowned minister, author and speaker Patricia King paid tribute to Tompkins on Facebook, calling her “A true general” and adding, “We love you Iverna!”
