The work of community relief and development is firmly rooted in compassionate service. As Christians, our approach is to both share the gospel and provide practical and tangible assistance to those who are hurting or in need.
Steven McMichael is leading the Center for Compassion at Evangel University. As a former pastor and missionary to Africa, McMichael is leading the effort to help students develop a theology of compassion through service, research and education. He is enthusiastic about the integration of a gospel-centered and social justice-minded approach to relief and development and shares how his international experience in ministry helped shape his calling to serve in this role.
