On this episode of the Faith Fuel Podcast on the Charisma Podcast Network, host Rosalinda Rivera is joined by New York City 14th District council member and senior pastor of New Life Outreach in the Bronx, Dr. Fernando Cabrera, to hear about what God is doing in one of the largest cities in the United States.
Cabrera says, “I don’t think there’s anything that could have prepared any of us for this. … There has been a sense where people are starting to realize that they made things too big before God. I’ve never seen such a hunger in New York City for Jesus. I never seen so many people from government, the business world; there was the hunger that people have, the desperation for more of Jesus. And I believe that the Lord did this to call all of our attention.”
Amidst the panic and the worry about shutting businesses down, Fernando admits to being fearful in the beginning. But the Lord began to work in his heart, and he says, “When I released the church to God, I said, ‘God, this is Your church. This is not my church.’ When I did that, there was just such a release in my spirit.” He adds, “And at the same time, I saw God open doors, unbelievable doors for our church, and God has sustained His church.”
Rosalinda adds that she believes “This was more of an opportunity to go out and share the love of Jesus Christ with people.”
Throughout this process, Cabrera says he has learned a very important lesson. He says, “We have heard that the church is the hope of the world. I think that God is revising that.”
