Is Broken-Heart Syndrome the Blockage to Your Thriving Life?

Everywhere you go, people are hurting. They’ve been betrayed, abandoned, abused, suffering with health and relationship issues and financially devastated.

Joan Hunter suffered through a failed marriage, cancer and financial problems. Counselors told her she’d feel better in seven or eight years, but she’d never get over it. Joan didn’t accept that prognosis because Jesus died to heal her. He died with a broken heart so she wouldn’t have to live with a broken heart.

“Too many times, like me, people are told they have to live with a certain condition. I went after God and told Him, I can’t live with a broken heart. I went after God to heal my heart,” Joan says. He did more than simply heal her heart—He healed her heart, her finances and healed her of breast cancer. “When I got rid of the junk in my heart, it was no longer feeding the cancer and it was gone.”

Joan believes when you go after a heart healing, the diseases that plague you will automatically go. “I felt like my heart had been shredded. Symbolically, I gave my heart to God and admitted that He’s the only one who can heal it. And God gave me a new heart.”

There is a disease called broken-heart syndrome. The muscles, ligaments and tendons of a broken heart are shredded. Joan encourages others that God wants to and can give them a heart transplant—a brand new heart.

Proverbs 4:23 tells us to, guard your heart, for out of it comes wellsprings of life. So when your heart is shredded—broken-heart syndrome—it’s not functioning or beating right. Then everything on the outside, your conversations, interactions, relationships, your whole mindset, is affected. Suddenly, you turn into a victim and experience a cascading failure to thrive.

There is a process to healing. Deep wounds can be healed instantly, but God will reveal areas of your life that also need healing. For example, unforgiveness. Joan says, “Unforgiveness is a poison we drink hoping the other person gets sick.” If you hold on to unforgiveness it’s an open door to sickness. When you get that revelation, you’ll forgive everybody and everything.

There are a lot of teachings on soul ties, which are not mentioned in the Bible. You might need to get rid of the soul tie to someone with whom you’ve had an intimate relationship. Or, if you’re divorced, you need to renounce the covenant that is no longer true. Renouncing soul ties and covenants is very freeing, and helps to free your heart. Ezekiel 11:19 promises, “And I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them. I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh,” which is restoration and renovation—a brand new heart.

A healed heart is one that is free, unbound, serving God and others, harbors no unforgiveness, and is free to love and be loved without fear. You can be set free, restored, and made totally whole.

The Most Neglected Part of the Body

There is a very small member in our body that boasts great things, yet it is an uncontrolled evil. Why is this small member so important, and why can it be considered evil? Man can tame every creature on the earth, but cannot tame or control the tongue. It is full of poison. We can bless others by what we say, or we can curse others by what we say. We actually speak death or life out of our own mouths.

Proverbs 13:3 that he who guards his mouth preserves his life, but he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.

Jesus said to the fig tree in Matthew 21:19, “And seeing a fig tree by the road, He came to it and found nothing on it but leaves, and said to it, ’Let no fruit grow on you ever again’ Immediately the fig tree withered away.” Then in Mark 11:21 it says, “Peter, remembering, said to Him, ‘Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered away.’”

We see that even though Jesus didn’t literally say that he cursed the tree, by His declaration of no fruit any longer, it was considered a curse.

Most people don’t even try to control their tongue. It takes discipline and an awareness of the power connected with our words. There are also consequences with what we say. We need to be people who are slow to speak, and quick to listen as James 1:19 describes. Unfortunately most people do just the opposite. In addition, some Christians mock the people who teach that our words frame our world. The ones who ridicule Bible teachers who teach the importance of our words are actually ignorant of God’s Word. Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Notice that God said His children are destroyed, not unbelievers. We are the one ones who are supposed to know and apply scripture to our lives.

A lot of people also like to boast about speaking their mind. This is not wise. We should carefully consider the impact of our words before we speak, and be mindful of the attitude we express with our voice. The bible has much to say about speaking foolish and thoughtless words:

Proverbs 29:11, A fool vents all his feelings, but a wise man holds them back

Psalms 39:1, I will guard my ways, lest I sin with my tongue; I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle

Proverbs 6:2, Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth

There is a verse in the Bible that we should all take note of. In Matthew 12:36 Jesus said, “But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.” Did you get that? Every idle word we have spoken. How many of those do we speak every day?

One good example of this is people who criticize others. They usually speak death-filled, negative words over themselves too. As we get older, it’s not uncommon to hear people around us say things like, “My eyes are going. I should probably buy a one-story house since my knees are giving out. My body is falling apart. I’m always forgetting things. I’m not as sharp as used to be. I’m always tired.” The list is long of self-declarations made by many people every day. Yes, of course we are all aging and our bodies are changing. But we don’t want to hasten the aging process by speaking negatively, knowing that our words have power. We should be attempting to slow down any decline with positive, life-giving words.

May we increase our awareness of the power of our words and guard our mouth intensely. May we speak faith-filled life-giving, godly words – words of love, kindness and encouragement to others.

Everyone Has a Gift: Here’s How to Discover Yours

John Bevere believes that every follower of Christ is born with a divine calling—and with it, a gift from God.

“Every single child of God has a calling on their life,” Bevere said in a recent episode of his podcast “The John Bevere Podcast” alongside his son Ardan. “Now with these callings, OK, so let’s say I’m called to the marketplace or let’s say I’m called to education. God gives supernatural gifts to accomplish them.”

But for many, those gifts may feel buried or even non-existent. Bevere is quick to remind people that God’s assignments don’t always align with human strengths. “Our calling is beyond our natural ability,” he said. “Because if God made our calling so that we could accomplish it in our own ability, we’d have to share the glory with Him. And God says, ‘I’m not sharing my glory with anybody.’”

In fact, Bevere shared that writing was once his weakest subject. “It used to take me four hours to write a one-page paper,” he said. “English, creative writing, foreign language was my absolute worst subject in high school.” But God had other plans. “Two women came to me from two different states in the United States within two weeks of each other… They both said the exact same thing. They said, ‘John, if you don’t write what God’s given you to write, He’ll give the message to somebody else and one day you’ll stand in judgment for it.’”

That moment marked a turning point in his life—and a lesson he now shares with others seeking their spiritual purpose. “We have access to the grace of God through faith,” Bevere said, quoting Romans 5:2. “It’s God’s free unearned empowerment that gives us the ability to go beyond our natural ability.”

For those unsure of where to begin, Bevere encourages seeking God diligently. “The thing we’ve got to do is seek Him,” he said. “God gives supernatural gifts to accomplish what we’ve been created to do.”

And if you haven’t discovered yours yet, don’t be discouraged. “Sometimes our giftings, we’re born with them. Sometimes they come on us when God speaks to us.”

The key, Bevere stressed, is simply being willing. “Are you going to self-promote with your gift? Or are you going to walk the path that God puts before you?”

Why Are Christians Turning Against Israel?

Joel Rosenberg isn’t sugarcoating the spiritual crisis brewing within evangelical circles.

In a recent episode of The Rosenberg Report, he expressed deep concern over a growing trend: young evangelicals turning against Israel.

“We all agree that it is absolutely sickening that secular young people, unchurched young people, are turning against Israel and against the Jewish people,” Rosenberg said. “But why are kids raised in Christian homes and in Christian churches—why are they being swayed by these lies?”

Breaking NewsSpirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

Rosenberg laid out what he calls seven reasons for this shift, warning, “These are not reasons that are going to be easy for some of us to hear.” Below are the first two, with the remaining five to be addressed in future episodes.

1. Parents and Grandparents Aren’t Teaching the Truth

Rosenberg points first to the breakdown of biblical education at home.

“The first and most important reason that evangelical young people are turning against Israel is because their parents and grandparents are not carefully, consistently, and intentionally passing on what they know and what they believe from the Bible about God’s love for Israel and the Jewish people.”

He quoted Romans 10:14-15, applying it beyond the gospel message: “How can anyone believe in solid biblical theological truths if they haven’t been taught those truths?”

Referencing Jeremiah 31, Rosenberg reminded listeners, “The Lord appeared to him to Israel from afar, saying ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love. Therefore, I have drawn you with loving kindness.’” He stressed that many children simply aren’t hearing these passages at home.

2. Churches Aren’t Teaching It Either

The second reason hits even closer to the pulpit.

“The second most important reason that young evangelicals are turning against Israel: well, it’s because they’re not getting solid biblical teaching about Israel and the Jewish people at church,” Rosenberg said.

He noted that while some pastors teach through Scripture faithfully, “many pastors prefer to teach a series of hot topics rather than teaching through a book of the Bible.” This, he warned, makes it easy to skip foundational truths such as the Abrahamic covenant and the prophetic history of Israel.

Even when solid teaching happens in the main service, Rosenberg said the youth often miss it entirely: “Most kids aren’t sitting in the main service… they’re getting a very different, a totally different diet of teaching.”

Rosenberg concluded the segment with a challenge: “Don’t completely outsource what your kids and grandkids are learning about the Bible to your church. The church is a very important place… but your home is the most important place for them to learn.”

Are You Qualified for the Holy Spirit? Here’s What Scripture Says

What does it take for someone to experience a true outpouring of the Holy Spirit?

In a world often divided by status, qualifications, and background the message of Acts 2 stands in stark contrast. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost wasn’t limited to a select few. It was—and still is—a promise for everyone.

Breaking NewsSpirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

“Let’s go back to the very beginning,” Gordon Robertson says in a recent 700 Club video, “where 120 people assembled in the upper room. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. They all began speaking in other languages.” The scene was so chaotic that the crowd assumed the disciples were drunk. But Peter stood up and boldly declared, “This is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel.”

Joel 2 prophesied this moment: “Afterwards, I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy.” Robertson emphasizes the radical inclusivity of this passage: “There’s no gender to the baptism of the Holy Spirit. There’s no social standing to the baptism of the Holy Spirit… all you need is to have flesh.”

In contrast to religious traditions that emphasize achieving holiness or belonging to a certain class or lineage, the Holy Spirit is available to all. “You don’t have to be a Levite. You don’t have to be an elder. You don’t have to be a member of the tribe of Judah,” Robertson explains. “When you look at the history of religion, it’s all based on how holy can you get… but here’s a promise that’s for everybody.”

Recalling the Pentecostal tarrying meetings of the 1960s and 1970s, Robertson shares how believers were taught to fast, pray, and wait for the Spirit to come—often after midnight. But he clarifies, “All those things are good, but they don’t qualify you for the Holy Spirit. What qualifies you is that Jesus died on a cross for you.”

The promise of Joel was fulfilled after Jesus’ death and resurrection, when He ascended to the Father and sent the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit came with power. “When you get that inpouring and that outpouring of His Spirit, then you get all the gifts of the Spirit.”

The outpouring of the Holy Spirit was never meant for an elite few—it is God’s promise to all. It transcends status, gender and background, offering power, comfort and divine presence to anyone willing to receive. In a world that often demands worthiness, the Holy Spirit is a gift of grace, freely given to all who believe.

Is the Rapture Just a Myth? Pastor Reveals the Shocking Truth

Is the rapture a real event yet to happen, or is it all just a sham?

In a timely and bold message, Pastor Kap Chatfield spoke on one of the most controversial doctrines in modern Christianity: the rapture of the church.

Look for Kap Chatfield’s upcoming new book, Prosperity Is Not a Curse Word. Available soon on amazon.com.

“Is the rapture real?” he asks at the outset. “Is it a made-up doctrine, or is it rooted in Scripture?” With clarity and conviction, he affirms the rapture as a biblically grounded event, pointing to 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 as one of the clearest passages describing it. “‘Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.’ That’s where we get the doctrine of the rapture.”

Breaking NewsSpirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

Anticipating skepticism, from many, Chatfield addresses the familiar objection that the word ‘rapture’ is not found in the Bible. “The word ‘rapture’ isn’t in the English Bible,” he acknowledges, “but the concept absolutely is.” He explains that the phrase “caught up” in 1 Thessalonians 4 is the Greek word harpazo, which means “to seize, to snatch out or away.” “When translated into Latin, it’s rapturo, and that’s where we get our English word ‘rapture’ from.”

Chatfield also presents biblical figures who were snatched up by the Lord and taken to heaven while still alive, such as Enoch, Elijah and Philip: “They were snatched away by the Lord. God took them. That’s a picture of the rapture.”

He also warns believers not to be swayed by modern reinterpretations of the event. “There’s a whole group in the new age movement that says it’s not really about disappearing,” he explains. “They say it’s about ascending into a higher frequency. Not even close.”

Get your FREE CHARISMA NEWSLETTERS today! Stay up to date with current issues, Holy Spirit news, Christian teachings, Charisma videos & more!

Jesus, he insists, was crystal clear about what the rapture would look like. “In Matthew 24:40-41, Jesus says two men will be in the field—one will be taken, the other left. Two women grinding at the mill—one taken, one left. That sounds pretty literal to me.”

The heart of Chatfield’s message centers on readiness. He quotes Luke 21:36, where Jesus says: “‘Watch, therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass.’” Then he adds, “That word escape came out of the mouth of Jesus. Some people don’t like that word. They think it means cowardice. But it’s God’s mercy.”

Join Charisma Magazine Online to follow everything the Holy Spirit is doing around the world!

Ultimately, Chatfield says the rapture is not a fringe belief or escapist fantasy.

“It’s not a myth. It’s the greatest rescue mission in human history. It’s how the church goes up before the wrath of God comes down.”

As the world spirals into deception and distraction, the call to live awake, alert and aligned with God has never been more critical. This is not about fear, but about faith—a bold, expectant readiness for the return of Christ. The moment will come without warning, and when it does, only those who are truly prepared will be taken. Now is the time to examine your heart, walk in holiness and live with eternity in view.

The Church Is Ignoring This Commandment—and Rabbi Schneider Says It’s Dangerous

Have we been missing the whole point of God’s Law?

Rabbi Kirt Schneider, host of Discovering the Jewish Jesus, joined Paul Begley to share insights from his latest book, Decoding the Torah: Applying Ancient Wisdom in a Modern World. This new work dives deep into the 613 commandments of the Torah and brings spiritual applications relevant to both Jewish and Gentile disciples of Jesus today.

“This is the most profound book that I’ve ever written,” Rabbi Schneider says. “It’s been in my spirit for about 10 years.” His passion is to show that far from being irrelevant, the Torah reveals the very heart of God. “Jesus said in Matthew 5 that He didn’t come to abolish the law and the prophets but to fulfill them,” Schneider emphasizes. “God’s self-revelation is within His Law.”

Breaking NewsSpirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

The book aims to correct the misunderstanding among many Christians that the law no longer applies. “We’re not under the law in terms of legal requirement, but that doesn’t mean we throw away the baby with the bathwater,” he said. “Without the law, we really don’t know how to walk with God.”

One example Schneider gives is the commandment in Genesis 32:32 forbidding the eating of the thigh muscle, which commemorates Jacob’s encounter with God. After wrestling all night, Jacob was blessed—only after God dislocated his hip. “The hip area is considered the seat of pride,” Schneider explains. “Before God could bless Jacob, He had to break his pride.”

Schneider also spoke on the principle of Sabbath rest. “The Sabbath is not just a law—it’s a creation principle,” he says. “God rested on the seventh day and was refreshed. He created it for man. It’s a day to stop doing, to be refreshed, to become a human being rather than a human doing.”

Another Law discussed came from Exodus 20:26, which instructed priests to ascend to the altar via a ramp, not stairs, to avoid exposing themselves. “This speaks to us of modesty,” Schneider says. “We’re to dress in garments of glory and beauty—not to draw people to our flesh.”

Schneider highlighted a second powerful Law found in Exodus 23:2: “You shall not follow the masses in doing evil.” In a world where cultural trends often contradict biblical truth, this command remains vital. “We are not to be conformed to this world but transformed by the renewing of our minds.”

Join Charisma Magazine Online to follow everything the Holy Spirit is doing around the world!

Rabbi Schneider’s Decoding the Torah isn’t just a theological deep-dive—it’s a prophetic call to rediscover the heart of God through His commandments. Far from outdated or irrelevant, the Torah pulses with divine wisdom meant to shape how we live, worship and walk in holiness today. For believers hungry to go deeper, this book offers more than insight—it offers transformation.

Lisa Bevere and Girls Gone Bible: The Truth about Women in Ministry

In today’s American church, a concerning undercurrent is becoming more visible—a religious spirit that seeks to restrict rather than release. Much like the religious leaders in the book of Acts who tried to silence Peter and John, there are forces within the church that resist those who preach the name of Jesus, especially when it challenges tradition. This spirit often masquerades as order or reverence but is rooted in fear and control, discouraging obedience to the Spirit of God.

This resistance has become particularly evident when it comes to women preaching and teaching the Word of God. Despite a biblical and spiritual mandate for all believers to preach the Gospel, there remains a widespread push-back against women stepping into roles of influence. In a powerful interview with Girls Gone Bible, Lisa Bevere tackled this topic and how the church should respond to the role of women when it comes to sharing the Gospel.

Breaking NewsSpirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

The Call and Commission of Women

Across the globe, women are rising with a fire to proclaim the Gospel, responding to a divine calling to go and share the Gospel to all of creation. Yet, some religious leaders attempt to suppress this movement, drawing rigid lines based on gender rather than anointing. The truth remains: while not all are called to pastor, all are commissioned to preach. As Lisa Bevere points out, this includes both sons and daughters, as clearly revealed in the prophetic promises in Joel when God said He would pour out His spirit on both sons and daughters.

Silencing women in ministry undermines the very mission of the church in these crucial times. He is calling forth a generation—men and women alike—to stand, speak and serve.

God’s Generosity in the Last Days

This prophetic promise from the Lord that He would pour out His Spirit on all flesh is a radical declaration of His love, not a reward for spiritual achievement. In these last days, His Spirit is falling on individuals and groups that may surprise traditional mindsets. This includes those outside the usual church settings, demonstrating that His outpouring is about love for humanity, not human approval.

Get your FREE CHARISMA NEWSLETTERS today! Stay up to date with current issues, Holy Spirit news, Christian teachings, Charisma videos & more!

Rather than resisting this move, the church must embrace it. God is using people who may not fit the mold, and He is not asking for permission to do so. His mission is too urgent to let tradition hinder the harvest.

Restoring Unity Between Men and Women

The division between men and women in ministry mirrors the fracture that began in the Garden of Eden. Blame, control and competition have replaced the harmony God intended. But Jesus came to restore what was lost, and this includes the unity and collaboration of men and women in the church. Instead of fighting with one another, we are all called to fulfill the Great Commission and speak the truth in love.

The call today is for all believers to be fully engaged in the work of the kingdom. It’s not about who holds the microphone but whether Christ is being lifted high. As the church enters a pivotal season, it must move beyond debates and embrace the full body of Christ—male and female—empowered and united for the mission ahead.

Join Charisma Magazine Online to follow everything the Holy Spirit is doing around the world!

The time for division and hesitation is over. God is calling His people—men and women alike—to rise in boldness, unity and obedience. The Spirit is moving beyond the confines of tradition, pouring out on all flesh with purpose and power. The church must cast off the religious spirit that limits and embrace the full measure of God’s calling. In these last days, every voice yielded to Christ matters. It’s not about who speaks, but that Jesus is proclaimed.

Have We Been Praying Wrong? Here’s 1 Shift That Changes Everything

For many believers, prayer feels more like a spiritual chore than a life-giving encounter. But Pastor Chris Garcia says the problem isn’t prayer, it’s how we view it.

“So many people, they feel like, you know, prayer is something you owe to God instead of looking at it like a deposit,” Garcia said during a recent interview. “Prayer is so important because that’s where the deposit happens.”

Garcia, leader of the Fresh Oil ministry, centers his work around contemplative prayer—what he calls “just simply being still with the presence of God to get to know Him.”

Breaking NewsSpirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

He’s clear that this form of prayer isn’t about performance or emotional highs. “The contemplative specifically—that type of prayer—is where the deposit happens, where the healing happens, the deliverance happens.”

Garcia recalled deeply personal moments where the presence of the Holy Spirit was so tangible, it changed his entire approach to prayer. “As I walk and I stand up and I go into the living room, it was like the presence of the Holy Spirit was like it became the room,” he said. “It was like palpable and weighty glory. I almost was afraid to, like, even look up.”

But it’s not always a rush of divine feeling. Sometimes it’s silence. Stillness. Even waiting.

“It wasn’t like I was feeling the presence,” Garcia shared. “I was just waiting there. And it got to a point where it was like awkward, just, waiting. And then all of a sudden on the stream this one kid comes in, ‘God, please forgive me of my sins. I repent.’ … Then another one. And it turned into like 30, 40, 50 people repenting.”

Garcia stresses that being in God’s presence isn’t about checking boxes—it’s about encountering a Person.

“Surely there’s something else,” Garcia remembered saying during one of these moments of silence with the Lord. “And He’s like, ‘Be with Me. Let Me be with you.’ And I’m there and I’m just like—tears are streaming down my face.”

Join Charisma Magazine Online to follow everything the Holy Spirit is doing around the world!

The takeaway? True prayer is not about doing more. It’s about abiding.

“If you want to be a vessel of power, you’ve got to learn to habitate in sitting with Him,” Garcia said. “We cheat on God with the stuff He gives us all the time. We’re so busy looking at His hands that we miss His face.”

For those struggling to connect in prayer, Garcia offers this simple encouragement: “Just start praying. That’s step one. God will meet you where you are.”

And in that stillness, everything changes.

Are Millions Falling for a Counterfeit Gospel?

Could a large segment of the Christian population be falling for a false gospel?

Former Catholic Mike Gendron is sounding the alarm on what he calls “the greatest lie the devil ever told”—a deception keeping millions bound in spiritual darkness.

Breaking NewsSpirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

Speaking to Ezekiel Azonwu on the We Need to Talk podcast, Gendron pulled no punches as he shared his personal journey out of Roman Catholicism and into a life transformed by the gospel of grace. “I was in bondage to religious deception for over 30 years,” Gendron said. “The only way I could ever know the truth is to abide in God’s word.”

For Gendron, the turning point came when he opened the Bible for the first time at the age of 35. “I began reading the Bible for the first time, and that’s when I realized the truth was going to set me free,” he said. “And the truth did set me free.”

To order James Lasher’s new book, The Revelation of Jesus, visit Amazon.com.

What he discovered shook him to his core. “As a Catholic, I did everything I could to try and become right with God,” he explained. “It wasn’t until I opened the Bible that I realized the only way to be right with God is by faith in the all-sufficient, all-perfect, finished work of Christ.”

Gendron warned that many Catholics are trusting in their religion rather than in Jesus Christ alone. “It’s a religion that offers another Jesus and another gospel and another spirit,” he declared. “They have been indoctrinated with the greatest lie the devil ever told—that you can merit heaven through your own good works, your own religious rituals and sacraments.”

With deep concern, Gendron pointed to the eternal consequences of believing a false gospel. “The greatest danger facing Catholics is the same danger facing everyone who has not come to Christ with empty hands of faith,” he said. “They are rejecting the only means of salvation.”

He also emphasized the urgent need for the true church to step in. “Our goal is to point people to the true Christ and the true gospel,” Gendron stated. “We want them to trust the Word of God over the teachings and traditions of men.”

This revelation ignited a passion in Gendron to reach others with the same truth that set him free. “I now have a love and a compassion for Roman Catholics that I never had before,” Gendron said. “They’re where I was for over 30 years. I was a victim of deception, and they are too.”

In a time when truth is under assault and deception wears a religious mask, the call is clear: believers must return to the unfiltered gospel of Jesus Christ. This is not about attacking denominations, but about awakening hearts to the reality that not everything wrapped in Christian language leads to salvation.
