Turkish Lawmaker Suffers Cardiac Arrest While Criticizing Israel

In a dramatic turn of events, Turkish lawmaker Hasan Bitmez, 53, suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed on the floor of the Turkish National Assembly on Tuesday. The incident occurred moments after he delivered a harsh critique of his country’s response to the Israel-Hamas war.

Bitmez, who serves as the deputy head of Turkey’s Felicity Party, was addressing the Grand Assembly of the Turkish National Assembly when he suddenly collapsed. The shocking footage shows him falling to the ground as concerned onlookers rushed to his side to provide assistance.

Bitmez’s heart reportedly stopped in the Parliament but was later restarted. He is diabetic and received two stents in his heart after an angiography at a local hospital. He is believed to be in critical condition.

Before his collapse, Bitmez criticized the Turkish government for having “endless love for Israel” and accused Israel of crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.

Lawmakers from the Justice and Development Party, led by Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, responded to Bitmez’s criticism by blaming his condition on “God’s wrath,” according to the minutes from the session.

While Turkey condemned Israeli citizen deaths caused by Hamas’ surprise Oct. 7 incursion, President Erdogan referred to Hamas as “freedom fighters” just days after the attack. Erdogan has also criticized the West for its strong support of Israel and accused the nation of committing “war crimes” in the Gaza Strip.

Over the past weekend, Erdogan denounced the United Nations Security Council, calling it the “Israel Protection and Defense Council” after the United States vetoed an immediate cease-fire resolution. The vote on the resolution was 13-1, with the United Kingdom abstaining.

The Bible has much to say about those who attack Israel, with numerous passages discussing the consequences of such actions. In the Old Testament, we see God’s unwavering commitment to protect and defend Israel, often through divine intervention or the use of other nations as instruments of judgment.

For example, in the book of Isaiah, it is written, “For the nation or kingdom that will not serve you will perish; it will be utterly destroyed” (Isa. 60:12). This verse highlights the divine protection that God promises to Israel, and the fate of those who would dare to attack it.

In the New Testament, we see a shift in focus towards spiritual warfare and the importance of prayer in the face of adversity. In Ephesians 6:12, it is stated, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” This passage encourages believers to rely on God’s strength and protection in times of conflict, rather than resorting to violence or retaliation.

The parallels between these biblical passages and current events are striking. As we witness the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, it is important to remember that the Bible has much to say about the protection of Israel and the consequences of attacking it. Whether through divine intervention or the power of prayer, we can find solace in the fact that God remains committed to the safety and well-being of His chosen people.

Rare Byzantine Coin Depicting Jesus Discovered in Norway

A remarkable discovery has been made in the mountainous region of Vestre Slidre, Norway. A metal detectorist stumbled upon a very rare gold coin from the Byzantine Empire, featuring an image of Jesus Christ holding the Bible. The coin is believed to be over 1,000 years old and has sparked interest among archaeologists and historians.

The Byzantine Connection

The coin, known as a Byzantine histamenon nomisma, is thought to have originated in Constantinople (now Istanbul, Turkey), which was the capital of the Byzantine Empire. The coin’s age and location suggest a possible connection to the reign of Basil II and Constantine VIII, who were brothers and co-emperors of the Byzantine Empire from A.D. 962 to 1025.

Inscriptions and Design

The coin’s design includes a dotted, triple border, and it bears two inscriptions: one in Latin, which reads “Jesus Christ, King of those who reign,” and another in Greek, which says “Basil and Constantine, emperors of the Romans.” The inscriptions and images on the coin provide valuable insight into the religious and political climate of the time.

Speculation on How the Coin Arrived in Norway

There are several theories on how the coin made its way to Norway. One possibility is that it was part of the treasure acquired by Harald Hardråde, who was the emperor’s bodyguard and later became king of Norway. Another theory is that the coin may have arrived through trade routes, such as the salt trade or the old trade routes known as the “Bispevegen.”

Impact and Significance

This rare and valuable artifact offers a fascinating glimpse into the history of the Byzantine Empire and its connection to Norway. It also highlights the importance of preserving and studying historical artifacts, as they provide invaluable information about the past.

Biblical Connections

The discovery of this coin with the image of Jesus Christ holding the Bible can be seen as a tangible connection to the Christian faith. In the Bible, Jesus is referred to as the “King of kings” (1 Tim. 6:15) and “King of the Jews” (Matt. 2:2). The coin’s inscription, “Jesus Christ, King of those who reign,” echoes these biblical references.

The discovery of this rare Byzantine coin in Norway is a remarkable find that provides a fascinating glimpse into the past. It highlights the importance of historical artifacts in understanding our shared history and the connections between different cultures and empires. The coin’s depiction of Jesus and its biblical inscriptions also serve as a reminder of the role of Christianity in shaping our world.

2024: A Year of Reformation and Revival

As the world continues to face a multitude of challenges, it is more important than ever to hold onto our faith and trust in Jesus Christ. In the midst of these trials, a prophetic word from Joseph Z, as shared in an exclusive interview with Charisma News, sheds light on the future and provides hope for believers.

The Prophetic Word: A Time of Revival and Reformation

During the interview, Joseph Z shared a prophetic word that he received from the Lord, which included a timeline of events and a vision of a giant tornado. Despite the seemingly negative nature of these events, the Lord revealed that there would be a time of Revival and Reformation in the midst of the storm.

This message is a powerful reminder that even in the darkest moments, God is still at work. He is calling His people to run towards the battle, not away from it, and to stand firm in their faith. As we navigate the end times, we can take comfort in the knowledge that God is with us and that He has a plan for our lives.

Following the recording of the interview and the Z’s vision of a giant tornado, Hendersonville, Tennessee, was rocked by a devastating tornado that tore through the area leaving destruction in it’s path.

The Redwoods Rising: A United Front Against Wickedness

One of the most encouraging aspects of the prophetic word is the promise of the Redwoods Rising. This term refers to a united front of believers who will stand together against the wicked agenda of the world. These individuals will be like mighty Redwoods, united in their faith and unwavering in their commitment to righteousness.

As the end of the age draws closer, it is crucial that we, as believers, stand together and support one another. The Bible tells us that a cord of three strands is not easily broken (Eccl. 4:12), and this principle is just as true for the body of Christ. By joining forces and lifting each other up in prayer, we can be a powerful force against the darkness that threatens to engulf the world.

A Bright Future: The New America and the Young Lions

In the midst of the storm, there is a promise of a new America and a bright future for the nations that follow God’s plan. This new era will be marked by the rise of the Young Lions, a generation of believers who are filled with the Spirit of God and ready to take on the challenges of the end times.

As we look forward to this new era, it is important to remember that our hope is not found in the world, but in Jesus Christ. He is the light that shines in the darkness, and His presence with us ensures that we will never be alone. By keeping our eyes fixed on Him and trusting in His promises, we can face the future with confidence and hope.

A Call to Action For Believers

As we approach the end times, it is crucial that we remain steadfast in our faith and trust in Jesus Christ. The prophetic word shared by Joseph Z serves as a powerful reminder that even in the midst of darkness, there is hope and a bright future for those who stand firm in their faith.

Let us heed the call to run towards the battle, not away from it, and to stand united as a body of believers. By doing so, we can be a powerful force for good in the world and a beacon of hope for those who are lost in the darkness. May we always remember that our future is secure in the hands of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Italian Model Turns His Back on Fame to Serve God

In a remarkable turn of life, a former Italian model and “most beautiful man” winner, Edoardo Santini, has chosen to leave the glamour of fame and fortune to pursue a higher calling—the priesthood. At just 21 years old, Santini has decided to give up his modeling career, acting and dance to enter the seminary, following what he believes to be his true life’s purpose.

Santini, hailing from the beautiful region of Florence, won the prestigious ABE’s 2019 pageant and was crowned the “most beautiful man.” He also excelled in swimming competitions. However, his life took an unexpected turn when he discovered the “real Church,” which he previously thought was dead.

In a recent video, Santini shared his decision with his followers, saying, “At 21 years of age, I find myself on the path toward becoming a priest, God willing.” He added that he would offer his passions to God and live them differently.

The Catholic Church has been facing challenges in recruiting new priests, with numbers dropping by almost two-thirds over the past few decades. In 1970, the church trained over 6,300 new priests, but in 2019, that number dwindled to just over 2,100.

Get your FREE CHARISMA NEWSLETTERS today! Stay up-to-date with current issues, Holy Spirit news, Christian teachings, Charisma videos & more!

Despite the decline in interest in the priesthood, Santini has found a renewed sense of purpose and joy in his decision. “I am Edoardo, I am 21, and I am happy,” he said, reflecting on his choice. “Will I become a priest? I don’t know, I am here to discover. But I have taken the step that terrorized me, that stopped me finally being myself. I am ready to say I made a mistake.”

His announcement has garnered mixed reactions from friends and family, with some expressing disappointment while others have shown support. However, the young man remains steadfast in his decision, acknowledging that following one’s true calling in life can be challenging but ultimately rewarding.

As the Bible tells us in Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans that I have for you, says the Lord, plans for peace and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Edoardo Santini’s journey is a powerful reminder that our true identity and purpose in life can only be found in Jesus Christ. We pray that his pursuit of God’s calling will inspire others to seek the path God has for them and find fulfillment in their relationship with the Lord.

Mike Bickle Releases Statement Amid Investigation

In recent months, the Christian community has followed the ongoing investigation into allegations against Mike Bickle, the founder of the International House of Prayer of Kansas City (IHOPKC). As a prominent figure in the evangelical world, Bickle has been a source of inspiration and spiritual guidance for many. However, recent events have brought his leadership and character into question.

Now, Mike Bickle has released a personal statement amid the allegations made against him and the corresponding investigation:

To my Family and Friends, December 12, 2023:

With a very heavy heart I want to express how deeply grieved I am that my past sins have led to so much pain, confusion,
and division in the body of Christ in this hour. I sadly admit that 20+ years ago, I sinned by engaging in inappropriate
behavior—my moral failures were real. (I am not admitting to the more intense sexual activities that some are suggesting).
I hate my sin and I see it as serious and grievous before a holy God. I take all sin seriously, so on those occasions
I quickly and sincerely repented in a way that resulted in receiving assurance from God followed by a daily resolve to live
holy in all of my ways. God graciously helped me to respond in those times with a broken and contrite heart that was
filled with godly sorrow. To this day, I remain sorrowful about those past failures.

I am anguished that my past sins have caused great pain for my wife and family along with the IHOPKC family, and
others. I am deeply sorry that my sin put the IHOPKC leadership and community in a very painful and difficult position.
I asked my family for forgiveness. I now ask for forgiveness from the IHOPKC family and many in the body of Christ.

Some may wonder why I am just now making a public statement 20+ years later? It is because I was recently confronted
about things that I said or did 20+ years ago—things I believed were dealt with and under the blood of Jesus. Since this
has now become public, I want to repent publicly. On October 28, 2023, I wrote the first draft of this statement but at that
very same time, false allegations of sexual abuse were being circulated against me. I was given legal advice to wait to
make my statement public for several important reasons—including creating the misunderstanding that I was confessing
to the false allegations that were circulating. I am very sorry that it took so long for this personal statement to come out.
This delay created additional pain, anguish, division, and more for so many people that I love. I am deeply sorry for this.

Since late October terrible things have been written against me in various communications (blogs, articles , posts, etc.)
that describe me and various sinful things that I allegedly did. There are many misrepresentations of my words and actions in these communications including statements that are out of context, greatly exaggerated, or blatantly false.

I ask that my family and friends do not defend me. I have confidence that the Lord will speak concerning what He sees
and says about me in His timing. Please do not engage in debates on social media to defend me and please do not criticize those who are voicing their disdain for me. Please only speak blessing to them and about them (Mt. 5:44). In this way, we can minimize some of the divisiveness that the enemy has planned—and we can continue to stay focused on loving Jesus and one another. I am deeply committed to respond to those with complaints against me in the spirit of Psalm 18:35—both now and in the years to come. Some who are have spoken against me are friends (I will continue to view them as friends).

For an extended season, I will not engage in my public preaching ministry (conferences, social media, zooms, etc.)—I see
this as God’s “delayed” loving discipline on my life (Heb. 12:6, 11). I will look to other leaders to determine how long this
season will last—it may be long and it may even be permanent. I will only reengage in my public preaching ministry,
if God confirms it through others. I am at peace with whatever He wants (2 Sam. 15:25-26). Jesus, I love and trust You!

I honor and love the IHOPKC community and will forever be grateful for them. They are a most remarkable people—they
are truly marvelous comrades. I know the Lord is with them and that His favor and grace will continue to rest on them.

Pray for me, Diane, and my beloved family. They have expressed their love and support for me in extravagant ways.

With much sorrow yet with prayerful confidence in God’s perfect leadership,

Mike Bickle

Allegations against Mike Bickle first surfaced in late 2023, prompting the IHOPKC leadership to engage a third-party investigative firm to look into the matter. The firm, which has extensive experience conducting independent investigations into high-profile cases across the Kansas City metro area, has been in contact with all of Bickle’s alleged victims. The duration of the investigation is unknown and “will depend on several factors, the main one being whether or not the alleged victims and parties involved are willing to participate,” according to the executive committee.

In response to the allegations, the IHOPKC Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Mike Bickle have agreed that out of the best interest of the organization and the integrity of IHOPKC, Bickle will step away from public ministry for an indefinite time, up to and including until the investigation is complete. The ELT has also engaged a new third-party firm that has experience conducting independent investigations into high-profile cases across the Kansas City metro area.

The allegations against Mike Bickle have sent shockwaves through the Christian community, with many expressing concern and disappointment. As the founder of the International House of Prayer of Kansas City, Bickle has played a significant role in shaping the spiritual lives of countless individuals. The investigation has prompted a wider conversation about accountability and transparency within Christian leadership.

The investigation is an ongoing process, and it is important for the Christian community to remain informed and engaged in the discussion. While the allegations are serious, it is essential to remember the importance of due process and the presumption of innocence until proven guilty. As the investigation unfolds, the Christian community must continue to pray for all parties involved and seek guidance from the Holy Spirit in navigating this challenging time.

Brian Houston Set to Launch New Church in 2024

In a recent announcement on X (formerly known as Twitter), Hillsong Church founder Brian Houston, 69, revealed his plans to launch a new weekly online ministry and church in 2024. Houston, along with his wife Bobbie, expressed excitement about building a new community through this venture.

The news comes almost two years after Houston resigned as global senior pastor of the Hillsong megachurch network, following allegations of misconduct by two women. The criminal charges against him, related to concealing sex abuse committed by his father, were dropped in August 2022.

In January 2022, Houston stepped down from his role at the church’s helm for the entire year. He maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings, and the court ultimately found him not guilty.

In a separate incident, Houston was arrested in February 2022 for driving under the influence of alcohol. He initially pled not guilty but later reversed his plea. The court sentenced him to three years probation, a $140 fine and other penalties.

Despite these setbacks, Houston remains committed to starting a new chapter in his ministry. The details of the new online ministry and church are yet to be revealed.

Meanwhile, Houston’s daughter, Laura Toganivalu, and her husband, Peter, who resigned from their roles at Hillsong Young & Free earlier this year, have also announced the launch of a new church.

As Christians, it is important to remember that redemption, forgiveness and mercy are central to our faith. The Bible teaches us that God is the forgiving God, and we are called to forgive others as He has forgiven us (Col. 3:13). We are also reminded that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” (Rom. 3:23), but through Christ, we can receive redemption and the promise of eternal life (Rom. 6:23).

Moving forward in our faith, it is essential to extend mercy to those who have stumbled and to support them in their journey toward redemption. In doing so, we can create a stronger and more united Christian community that reflects the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

Iowa Statehouse’s Satanic Display Sparks Controversy and Concern

In a recent development at the Iowa Statehouse, a holiday display set up by the Satanic Temple has stirred controversy among many communities. The display, featuring a ram’s head covered with mirrors on a mannequin cloaked in red clothing, has been defended by the group’s co-founder, Lucien Greaves, as a symbol of their right to religious freedom.

Greaves argued that the display is necessary as “We don’t have a church on every street corner,” emphasizing their desire to be represented in a public forum. He also suggested that those who do not like the display should simply ignore it.

However, many Christians like Shellie Flockhart from Dallas Center have expressed shock and concern, calling the display “a very dark, evil force.” In response, a prayer group was organized on Wednesday, Dec. 6 around the Christmas tree in the center of the rotunda to spiritually oppose the display.

Get your FREE CHARISMA NEWSLETTERS today! Stay up-to-date with current issues, Holy Spirit news, Christian teachings, Charisma videos & more!

Flockhart emphasized the importance of spiritual warfare, stating, “I hope that people realize spiritual warfare is real. That there are evil satanic forces that are trying to infiltrate our state.” This sentiment is echoed by many in the Christian community, who see the display as an affront to America’s beliefs and values.

The Satanic Temple claims to be a federally recognized non-theistic group that uses satanic symbols as a way to convey its message. The group’s website states that they do not worship Satan or believe in the existence of Satan. The display is expected to remain at the Statehouse for 14 days.

The Bible warns of the dangers of allowing spiritual darkness into our lives. Ephesians 6:12 states, “For our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” Allowing displays like the one at the Iowa Statehouse is an open invitation for such darkness to enter our society.

However, Christians can take heart in the victory over Satan that Jesus achieved in His death, burial and Resurrection. As 1 John 3:8 says, “For this purpose the Son of God was revealed, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” Through the power of the Holy Spirit, Christians have the same power to overcome spiritual darkness and stand firm in their faith.

The Iowa Statehouse’s display has ignited another debate about religious freedom and the role of spiritual darkness in our society. While the Satanic Temple asserts its right to be represented in a public forum, Christians are reminded of the importance of spiritual warfare and the victory that Jesus has already won on their behalf.

Faith-Based Media on the Rise: The Wonder Project Shines Bright

The rise of faith-based media in 2023 has been nothing short of remarkable, as the industry witnesses a surge in the production of Gospel-centered, uplifting content. Two industry insiders, Jon Erwin and Kelly Merryman Hoogstraten, have joined forces to create the Wonder Project, a production company that aims to elevate the quality of faith-based movies and TV shows.

With over $75 million in seed and Series A funding raised to date, the Wonder Project has garnered support from industry giants such as Lionsgate, Jason Blum and United Talent Agency. Dallas Jenkins, the creator of the successful series “The Chosen,” will serve as a special adviser to the company.

“We need to create a scaled solution for the heartland, for the audience that goes to school with my kids,” Hoogstraten told Variety in an interview. “I love the idea of doing so many great stories that are values-based. We just want to flood the world with hope right now.”

One of the standout projects of the year was “Jesus Revolution,” a film Erwin directed that surprised the industry with its impressive $52 million box office haul. This sleeper hit not only showcased the talent of the Wonder Project team but also highlighted the growing demand for faith-based content.

“The Wonder Project is tapping into a massive, global need. The faith and values audience is global, and the quality shows being developed will meet the long-standing and growing consumer demand,” said Ian Doody, managing partner at Powerhouse Capital.

The Bible reminds us of the importance of being a light unto the world. In Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus said: “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” This verse serves as a powerful reminder of the impact that faith-based media can have on our society.

“We’re going to dream bigger because the audience wants more,” Erwin says. “The content that we make can be infused with values and the things that pull us back together as a family and as Americans.”

As the Wonder Project continues to expand and produce high-quality, values-based content, the future of faith-based media looks bright. With a focus on storytelling that is both engaging and uplifting, the company is poised to make a lasting impact on the entertainment industry.

Are We Nearing the End? Americans Sounding Off on End Times

In a recent survey conducted by the Pew Research Center, a striking revelation emerged—40% of U.S. adults believe that we are “living in the end times.”

This substantial portion of the population holds a conviction that our current era is characterized by apocalyptic significance, raising questions about the factors influencing these beliefs and their prevalence among different religious groups.

Origins of the End Times Survey

The impetus for this particular survey was an earlier study in April 2022, which aimed to gauge Americans’ concerns about climate change. Surprisingly, the results revealed a significant segment expressing little or no apprehension about climate issues, attributing their lack of concern to a belief that God ultimately controls the climate. This connection prompted Pew Research to delve deeper into Americans’ religious views, particularly concerning the end times.

Belief Divide Among Christians

The survey disclosed a noteworthy divide among Christians regarding the belief in the end times. While 47% affirmed that we are currently living in this apocalyptic period, 49% held an opposing view. This internal schism within the Christian community underscores the wide variety of theological perspectives even among those who share the same religious framework.

Cross-Religious Perspectives

Beyond Christianity, the survey explored beliefs among individuals practicing non-Christian religions and those with no religious affiliation. Approximately 29% of respondents from non-Christian religions and 23% of those with no religious affiliation asserted a belief in the end times. This broad array of perspectives emphasizes the multifaceted nature of eschatological beliefs in contemporary America.

Exploring Views on Jesus’ Return

Central to Christian eschatology is the anticipation of Jesus’ return. Over half (55%) of U.S. adults affirm this belief, with varying degrees of certainty regarding the timing of this event during their lifetimes. The survey found that 10% believe the Second Coming of Jesus will likely happen in their lifetime, while 19% are convinced it will not occur during their lifetime. The remaining 27% are uncertain about the timing.

Eschatological Perspectives: Premillennialism Dominates

To further dissect respondents’ eschatological beliefs, the survey probed whether individuals thought Jesus would return after a worsening or an improvement in global conditions. The results revealed a notable preference for premillennial views, where 20% believed in a worsening of conditions before Jesus’ return, compared to only 3% adhering to a postmillennial perspective, anticipating an improvement in conditions.

Insights from Evangelical Pastors

Seeking a more nuanced understanding, we turn to a survey conducted by Lifeway Research that surveyed 1,000 evangelical pastors. The findings shed light on pastoral perspectives:

  • 64% of pastors stated that their church does not require staff to hold specific end times beliefs.
  • 60% identified with premillennialism regarding the millennium described in Revelation 20.
  • 57% claimed alignment between their views on end times and their congregation’s.
  • 24% reported a lack of consensus within their congregation regarding end times.
  • 30% considered preaching end-time prophecies somewhat important, while 10% deemed it unimportant.
  • 32% viewed spending time studying eschatology as somewhat important, with 10% stating it is not important.
  • 27% acknowledged that interpreting end times is a divisive issue within their congregation.
  • 40% held the unbiblical belief that the Christian church has fulfilled or replaced the nation of Israel in God’s plan.
  • 56% expressed an expectation of Jesus’ return in their lifetime.
  • Only 23% reported having traveled to Israel, highlighting the limited exposure to this historically significant region.
  • 24% revealed discussing end times prophecy at least once a month with their congregation.

The survey results paint a complex portrait of American beliefs in the end times, showcasing a wide range of thought even within the Christian church. Whether rooted in biblical prophecy, geopolitical events or broader societal concerns, these beliefs continue to shape individuals’ perspectives on the present and the future. Understanding these varied viewpoints is essential for fostering constructive dialogue and appreciating the various beliefs that define the Christian landscape.
