Pastor, Father of 11, Takes Own Life After Sexual Abuse Charges Filed

The stories of American church leaders succumbing to sin and committing heinous and atrocious sexual sins seems only to be getting worse and more frequent.

These painful stories of what is taking place in the church continue as recently, the accusations and charges leveled against a Baptist pastor in Tennessee came to light and led to a horrific scene at a local hospital.

As reported by The Christian Post:

David Baker Sr., a Tennessee pastor and father of 11, who served as vice president of Independent Baptist Online College, walked into a local hospital Wednesday and fatally shot himself a day after he was charged with aggravated sexual battery of a minor family member.

This tragic web spun from the bowels of hell sent the hospital, Maury Regional, into lockdown. The hospital has since released a statement on the matter:

It was discovered that an adult male entered the ED, did not seek medical treatment, and proceeded directly to the public restroom where he administered a self-inflicted gunshot to the chest, discharging the weapon twice. The ED staff initiated life-saving medical treatment; however, he succumbed to his injuries.

In the wake of this tragic turn of events for everyone involved, the CEO of Maury Regional, Dr. Martin Chaney, offered the hospital’s condolences and prayers to the family who is dealing with untold grief and disbelief at the situation.

“We are deeply saddened by today’s events. Our prayers are extended to the family and friends of this individual as well as the members of our team who responded,” Chaney said. “The welfare and safety of our patients and health care team members are paramount at Maury Regional Health. I am proud of the quick response of our security team, Emergency Department staff and Columbia Police Department.”

A local newspaper, Main Street Maury, reported that Baker had been “booked into the Maury County Jail on Tuesday, Sept. 10 and charged with one count of aggravated sexual battery. Baker was released on $200,000 bond and had been scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, Oct. 9.”

The crime was reportedly committed against a minor, who was also a family member of Baker’s.

Far too many crimes like this are being committed by trusted leaders in the church, that should never happen in the body of Christ. Too many leaders are succumbing to their flesh and committing horrific acts while tarnishing the name of Jesus.

Christians must take action to bring an end to this cancer that is killing the witnessing power of the church. Victims must be protected, leadership must stand against corruption and sin while the name of the Lord must be held in high regard and honored for His sacrifice and love for us.

So pray for your pastors, for your church’s leadership and for your communities. Pray that the snares and chains of the devil be broken over people’s lives and that this type of behavior is eradicated from the church once and for all.

Prayers Pour In for Christian Quarterback Following Another Alarming Injury

Outspoken Christian and quarterback for the Miami Dolphins Tua Tagovailoa suffered another injury resulting in a concussion on Thursday Night Football.

Tagovailoa collided with Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, who himself suffered a near-fatal episode on the football field, after diving forward head first in the third quarter. Tagovailoa would not return to the game.

Calls for prayer rang out from many within both the football and Christian communities for Tagovailoa, who has a history of suffering concussions due to the hard hits he takes on the field.

Worship leader and “Let Us Worship” founder Sean Feucht posted on X in support of Tagovailoa, imploring his followers to lift the quarterback up in prayer.

Praying for my friend @Tua right now.

Additionally, many former players in the NFL called for Tagovailoa to retire, saying that the money made playing in the league is not worth the price it will take from his health.

The NFL quarterback has never been shy about sharing his faith, in both victory and defeat.

“I think the best thing about being a believer of Jesus Christ, to me, is that the good Lord up above doesn’t care whether you win a game, whether you lose a game,” Tagovailoa shared after a loss to the Bills in 2023.

“…allowing me this platform, to me, is the thing in the world to be able to profess my faith on something that I firmly believe in, something that’s been foundationally instilled in me at a young age.”

As Tagovailoa begins his recovery from this most recent injury, the community is encouraged to keep him in their thoughts and prayers. Fans, teammates and supporters alike are urged to come together in a spirit of hope and healing for Tagovailoa, wishing him a swift and full recovery. His faith, strength and determination have inspired many, and now, in this challenging moment, he needs the support of those who stand behind him.

Understanding Transhumanism’s Risks Through the Lens of Scripture

Pastor Billy Crone, a Christian author and speaker, has raised concerns about what he describes as the “transhumanist plan for humanity,” linking current technological advancements to biblical prophecy.

Speaking with Gary Stearman of Prophecy Watchers, Crone warned that the global elite, led by figures like Klaus Schwab of the World Economic Forum, are pushing humanity towards a future of genetic manipulation and digital control that aligns with the “system of the Beast” revealed in the book of Revelation.

Crone argues that the so-called “Great Reset” has both economic and human dimensions, with the latter being the most dangerous.

“These guys don’t want just an economic reset,” he said. “They want a human reset… They want to turn humanity into a planet of non-humans.” He contends that modern technologies, such as gene editing and mRNA therapies, are being used to manipulate human biology, paving the way for a post-human species.

“If Hitler had these technologies, he would have gone crazy,” Crone stated, drawing parallels between today’s scientific capabilities and the Nazi eugenics program.

Crone believes this push for genetic manipulation and digital control is tied to a prophetic agenda. He cites Matthew 24:37, where Jesus warns that the time of His return will resemble “the days of Noah.”

According to Crone, this prophecy refers to a period of extreme moral and genetic corruption, similar to what he sees unfolding today. “In the days of Noah, it wasn’t just sin that grieved God’s heart; it was the genetic corruption,” Crone said. “God hit a restart button on humanity… Now, we are seeing this same scenario playing out.”

He further warns that the technology-driven human reset is closely linked to the mark of the Beast prophesied in Revelation. “They want to biometrically tie people into a digital economy,” Crone said. “This is the Great Reset… and it has everything to do with Bible prophecy.” Crone argues that the elites, whom he claims see themselves as “the new gods of the planet,” are attempting to recreate humanity in their image, rather than in God’s image.

For Crone, the urgency is clear: Christians must be aware of these developments and understand their spiritual implications. “This is a spiritual battle,” he said. “We need to be equipped… because the days of Noah are being repeated before our very eyes.”

Crone’s message is a stark reminder of a dangerous intersection between technology and prophecy, urging Christians to remain vigilant and spiritually prepared for what he believes is an imminent fulfillment of biblical warnings.

Surge in Jewish Visits to Temple Mount May Signal Prophetic Events

The number of Jewish visitors to the Temple Mount has reached an all-time high, exceeding previous records since Jerusalem came back under Israeli control in 1967. As of Sept. 6, a total of 51,672 Jews have visited the holy site since last Rosh Hashanah, according to the Beyadenu—Returning to the Temple Mount organization. This represents a significant increase compared to the 44,317 Jewish visitors throughout the previous year, reflecting a growing trend in the Jewish community’s desire to connect with the site considered the holiest in Judaism.

A notable turning point occurred after the “Return of Israel to the Temple Mount” conference, held at the Knesset on July 24. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir announced a new prayer policy during this event, resulting in a 45% surge in visits compared to the same period last year. Ben-Gvir has been vocal about his stance, calling for an end to what he describes as “anti-Jewish racism” on the Temple Mount and advocating for the construction of a synagogue on the site.

Breaking NewsSpirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

“The policies on the Temple Mount allow prayer, period,” Ben-Gvir told Army Radio. “The premier knows that when I joined the government, I said in the simplest way that there will be no discrimination at the Temple Mount, just like Muslims can pray at the Western Wall.”

However, despite these declarations, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has firmly stated that “there is no change to the status quo” that prohibits Jewish worship on the Temple Mount. President Isaac Herzog echoed this sentiment, reaffirming Israel’s “unequivocal commitment to preserving the status quo at the holy site in accordance with political agreements since 1967 and the spirit of rulings by leading rabbis and religious figures over the last 100 years.”

Order Jonathan Cahn’s “The Dragon’s Prophecy” on Amazon.com!

Not all rabbis and religious leaders agree that the status quo should remain unchanged. Rabbi Steven Burg, CEO of Aish, a Jewish educational institution located near the Temple Mount, voiced his support for a more inclusive approach to worship. “It’s almost surreal to hear people arguing so vehemently against people being able to pray in a holy site,” he said in an interview with ILTV. He emphasized the need for a conversation about how Jews, Christians, and Muslims could all be allowed to pray at the site, stating, “The Temple Mount should be a place of unity, not a place of distrust.”

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister’s Office has continued to assert that policy on the Temple Mount is determined by the Cabinet and the prime minister. A recent statement from the office reinforced this, noting, “There is no change in the status quo, nor will there be.”

The increasing number of Jewish visitors to the Temple Mount carries significant implications for biblical prophecy, particularly for Christians who view these events through the lens of the Bible’s teachings on the end times. According to biblical prophecy, the return of Jews to Israel and their growing presence at sacred sites such as the Temple Mount is often interpreted as a sign of the approaching end days. The Bible mentions in several passages, including Isaiah 2:2-3 and Zechariah 8:3, that in the last days, Jews will return to Jerusalem, and the city will once again become a center for worship.

The surge in Jewish visitors to the Temple Mount raises questions about whether these developments could be fulfilling prophecy before our very eyes. Some Christians believe that the increasing Jewish presence on the Temple Mount could be a precursor to the rebuilding of the Third Temple, a significant event in end-time prophecy. Others see it as a sign that God is gathering His people back to Israel, as foretold in Ezekiel 37:21-22, where it is written that God will gather the children of Israel from among the nations and bring them back to their own land.

While these developments may seem like a step toward the fulfillment of biblical prophecy, as Christians we are reminded to remain vigilant and prepared for Jesus’ return, as He commanded. The Bible teaches us that no one knows the day or hour of Christ’s return, but we are called to live in readiness, continually sharing the gospel and fulfilling the Great Commission.

So perhaps, the rising number of Jewish visitors to the Temple Mount could be seen as a sign of the times, a fulfillment of prophecy or simply a reflection of growing religious fervor among the Jewish community. Regardless, Christians are encouraged to remain focused on our mission, preparing for the return of Jesus while continuing to spread His message of hope and salvation to all nations.

Troubled Megachurch Seeks Fresh Start After Scandals

Another megachurch, this time The Meeting House, a multi-site church in the Toronto-area, has announced a shutting down of sorts amid its former pastor’s sexual misdeeds.

In a recent statement, The Meeting House leadership said the megachurch would close its doors for good, at least under the current name.

For more than two decades, The Meeting House has played an important role in the spiritual journey of thousands of people. At the heart of our church has been a desire to grow communities of Jesus followers who live and share His irreligious message of love and peace.

It is with sadness that we are required to bring the public-facing ministry of The Meeting House to an end as of Aug. 29. Going forward, there will no longer be churches operating programs or doing ministry under the banner of The Meeting House.

It’s the end of a chapter; and the start of another.

We are pleased to announce that as of Sept. 1, new missional church communities will be launching in many locations across Ontario as part of a new initiative called the BIC Church Collective.

If you have questions about what is happening at your local church in September or the longer-term vision for your location, please talk to your local pastor. They would love to have that conversation with you and work with you to build the future of your local church together.

We are so thankful for the role that so many amazing people have played in the life of The Meeting House. We are encouraged by the reminder that the church is not an organization or institution, but a community of people, following Jesus together. So while this chapter in the story of The Meeting House is coming to a close, we are grateful knowing that the ministry of Jesus and His church (all of us!) will continue in new and exciting ways.

As Jesus has been faithful to us every step of the journey thus far, we know he will continue to be faithful in the journey ahead.

The church and its community are still dealing with the fallout of a myriad accusations of sexual deviance by the former pastor who helped grow the church network into what it is today, Bruxy Cavey. Several other pastors in The Meeting House network are being charged with various perverse crimes such as child pornography, sexual assault, sexual exploitation and sexual misconduct.

Things became so bad at this megachurch, that prior to the church shutting its doors for good, it had to temporarily close due to insurance companies refusing to cover them for liability insurance.

Christians and non-Christians alike must be able to biblically discern the wolves in sheep’s clothing. Jesus tells us in Matthew 7:15:

Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruit. Do men gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit. But a corrupt tree bears evil fruit.

While the charges against Cavey were stayed due to the court ruling he did not receive a “speedy” trial, the fruit he produced within his leadership team has shown to be rotten.

Biblical discernment and wisdom through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit and a firm foundation in the Word of God must guide us during these days of deception. Otherwise we will be at risk of being taken as fools at the hands of the enemy.

Urgent Warning Issued to the American Church

It should be no surprise to any Christian in America that we are deep into a culture war over the removal of all things God from the nation, including the church.

At the premiere of the new film by conservative commentator turned thorn in every left-wing activist’s flesh Matt Walsh, “Am I a Racist?”, psychologist and voice of reason Jordan Peterson leveled a clear warning for the faithful in America.

Speaking to The Christian Post, Peterson warned of the “woke” agenda infiltrating the pulpit and taking people down the Marxist path. This is a godless path that will ultimately lead to destruction.

This newer brand of church in America, whether called woke or “progressive” churches, all represent the same thing: apostasy.

Peterson says that there is a battle over the church which many in other Western countries have already succumbed to.

“We should be concerned by the capture of the Protestant churches by the woke rainbow mob,” he told TCP. “In Canada and Great Britain, most of the mainstream Protestant churches are covered with rainbow flags. When the Christians start worshiping hedonistic pride, something has gone dreadfully wrong.”

It is no wonder that God resists the proud (James 4:6), because He is a jealous God (Exod. 34:14) and these radical, left-wing ideologies which have seduced the church are all about one thing: one’s self.

Such narcissism runs completely opposite the humility Christians are to show as followers of Jesus, and elevates a person’s place to where God should be held.

Order Stephen E. Strang’s “Spirit-Led Living in an Upside-Down World” on Amazon.com!

“There’s no shortage of bad actors as well in the Christian community of the sort that the atheists tend to object to,” Peterson continues. “The fundamental problem with religious enterprise is that it can be captured by the psychopathic narcissists, and that’s what you see in the Gospel story. Christ is persecuted most intensely by the Pharisees, the scribes and the lawyers … the Pharisees are religious hypocrites who use religion for their own self-aggrandizement. That’s a real danger in the religious enterprise, and especially the more Evangelical forms of Christianity have been prone to being overrun by self-serving charlatans. That’s a problem.”

Recently, ministry leader and author John Bevere held a podcast discussing one of Jesus’ most important warnings for the end times: the deceptive practices of false teachers.

In fact, the topic of false teachers is so important, Bevere says, that many of the New Testament authors warned Christians of them.

“Jesus is not the only one that warns about false teachers,” Bevere explains. “Every writer in the New Testament…except James. Now James warns about deception, but he doesn’t warn about false teachers. Every single writer…every one of them, warned about false teachers.”

Mirroring the words of Jesus in Matthew 10:16, Peterson warns that Christians must use wisdom, and no small amount of shrewdness, when dealing with false teachers and those who preach opposite of what the Word of God says.

“You have to pay attention to the fact that not everybody who says ‘Lord, Lord’ is going to enter the kingdom of heaven,” Peterson says.

One of the primary tools for spreading deception, especially within Christian circles and those seeking answers to life’s great questions, is through social media, according to Peterson.

“What we’re seeing is that bad actors are garnering a tremendous amount of attention online and fostering political polarization,” Peterson explains. “This isn’t a new phenomenon. This happens to cultures quite frequently, when the psychopathic manipulators get the upper hand, and that’s when you have extremely damaging revolutions. But it isn’t because people are actually polarized. It’s because the bad actors have crawled out from beneath their rocks and are having free reign. Some of that is a technological problem because we don’t know how to regulate social behavior on social media platforms … you can say whatever you want, and you’re not held responsible for it.”

Peterson, along with many other leading Christian voices such as Mario Murillo and Jack Hibbs, continues to press home the need for Christians today to be strong in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ, firmly planted in the Word of God and empowered with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

Without the spiritual weapons and armor Paul describes in Ephesians 6:10-20, we leave ourselves vulnerable to the schemes of the enemy who roams the earth looking for those he can devour.

John Bevere Reveals Jesus’ Most Urgent Warning About the End Times

There are many warnings God gives His children in the written Word, but are there some that are more important than others?

In a recent episode of “The John Bevere Podcast” with his son Arden, Christian author, speaker and co-founder of Messenger International, John Bevere addresses what he says is Jesus’ most important warning to the church, and it has specifically to do with the end times, and are we as the church ignoring it?

So what is the warning that should be taken seriously by all Christians?

Breaking NewsSpirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

As the disciples beseech Jesus to tell them of the signs before His return in Matthew 24, He tells them what to look for, and who to be wary of during the end times. But most importantly, according to Bevere, Jesus says four times that we are not to be deceived.

“You’ve heard me probably say it before, ‘there’s only one problem with deception…it’s deceiving,” Bevere says. “It’s deceiving. The person that’s deceived believes with all their heart they’re right, when in reality, they’re wrong. That’s so scary. In other words, they are self-fooled.”

Order John Bevere’s “The Bait of Satan” on Amazon.com!

Bringing this deception is one of the greatest threats facing those in need of salvation: false teachers.

“Jesus is not the only one that warns about false teachers,” Bevere explains. “Every writer in the New Testament…except James. Now James warns about deception, but he doesn’t warn about false teachers. Every single writer…every one of them, warned about false teachers.”

There are false teachers in the world today, Bevere warns, and it is imperative that Christians are able to identify them. According to Bevere, this must be done without turning into a “watchdog” or somebody who gets tunnel vision and only looks out for false teachers. These individuals have become known as “heresy hunters” who often fail to grow the kingdom in their search for their next clickbait video.

Get your FREE CHARISMA NEWSLETTERS today! Stay up-to-date with current issues, Holy Spirit news, Christian teachings, Charisma videos & more!

Discipleship is the key to not becoming a watchdog according to Bevere. “When a counterfeit comes in, if I train you how to recognize a counterfeit $100 bill, do I need to be next to you when that fake $100 bill comes into your hand?” Bevere asks. “No, I don’t need to be there, do I? What I taught you, the way I trained you, it taught you how to recognize it for yourself.”

According to Bevere, there are three categories in which teachers are placed:

  • True teachers that are on the right path.
  • True teachers who are off course but receive correction humbly.
  • False teachers who are not humble or teachable, and cannot be corrected.

Bevere has seen leaders fall over the years. Leaders that were at one point on the right path, but all fell and left the ministry when they demonstrated their inability to be taught and corrected in their behaviors. This highlights the necessity for not just leaders but all Christians to develop a humble heart, because as the Bible says, “…God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble,” (James 4:6).

Joseph Z Exposes the Hidden Truths of Today’s Prophecy

In the dynamic world of modern Christian ministry, prophecy remains one of the most powerful yet misunderstood spiritual gifts. To shed light on the true nature and purpose of prophecy, international prophetic voice Joseph Z recently joined Joni Lamb and her co-hosts on an episode of Table Talk on the Daystar Network. As the founder of Z Ministries and author of “Demystifying the Prophetic: Understanding the Voice of God for the Coming Days of Fire,” Z offers crucial insights on navigating the complexities and dangers within the prophetic landscape today.

Breaking NewsSpirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

Joseph Z explains this by distinguishing between the gift of prophecy, which he says is “available to all believers,” and the office of a prophet, a unique calling that carries specific responsibilities. “The gift of prophecy is for edification, exhortation and comfort,” he explains, referring to 1 Corinthians 14:3, “but the office of a prophet is governmental. It’s for equipping and building up the body of Christ.”

However, he warns of the dangers of what he calls “prophetic witchcraft,” a practice where individuals misuse the prophetic gift for manipulation or personal gain. “Prophetic witchcraft occurs when people twist the words of God to control others,” Z says. He adds that this behavior can deceive believers and lead them away from the truth. “People begin to rely on prophets more than they rely on Jesus or the Bible, and that’s a problem.”

Order Jonathan Cahn’s “The Dragon’s Prophecy” on Amazon.com!

Z emphasizes that prophetic ministry must always point back to Christ and align with Scripture. “If prophecy doesn’t match the Word of God, it’s not prophecy—it’s manipulation,” he stresses. He draws from Deuteronomy 18:20, which states, “But the prophet who, presumes to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who shall speak in the name of other gods—that prophet shall die.”

The misuse of prophecy is especially concerning, he adds, when it is used to prey on people’s emotions and vulnerabilities. “There are prophets who tell people what they want to hear, not what God is saying. That’s dangerous,” Z warns. He describes this as a form of “psychic Christianity,” where the focus shifts away from God’s voice to personal desires.

To combat these dangers, Z urges believers to return to a pure, biblically grounded practice of prophecy. “God is not a God of confusion, but of peace,” he says, quoting 1 Corinthians 14:33. He encourages believers to test all prophetic words against Scripture, to ensure that they align with the character and teachings of Christ.

“True prophetic ministry is simple,” he continues. “It’s about hearing God’s voice, knowing His Word and sharing it with humility and love. Anything else is just noise.”

By drawing clear distinctions between authentic prophecy and practices that distort it, Joseph Z provides valuable guidance for navigating the often murky waters of prophetic ministry. His call for discernment and adherence to Scripture serves as a reminder that while prophecy can be a powerful tool for building up the body of Christ, it must always be wielded with integrity and wisdom.

Are We on the Verge of the Great Tribulation?

In a recent video, pastor and author Dr. Mark Hitchcock spoke about current events in the Middle East and how they connect to biblical prophecies concerning the end times. According to Hitchcock, the escalating conflict between Israel and Gaza and the worldwide call for peace could be a prelude to a pivotal peace treaty, which he believes will be brokered by the Antichrist, marking the start of The Great Tribulation period described in the Bible.

“The talk about peace in the Middle East right now is pervasive,” Hitchcock says. “It’s dominating global news. The yearning for peace just keeps building.” He noted that the current international pressure on Israel for a ceasefire is unlike anything seen before. Headlines from news outlets such as Foreign Affairs and The Guardian are highlighting the urgency of peace talks and the potential for wider conflict. Hitchcock argues that this urgency reflects a “striking foreshadow” of events prophesied in the Bible.

Breaking NewsSpirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

Hitchcock cited Daniel 9:27, which describes a future covenant between Israel and “many” that will be established by a coming world leader. “The final time of seven years that will begin after the Rapture of the church will begin with a peace treaty between Israel and its neighbors,” he explained. “This treaty is going to be forged and brokered by the coming final Antichrist, and the world’s stage has never been more ready for his appearance.”

Order Jonathan Cahn’s “The Dragon’s Prophecy” on Amazon.com!

According to Hitchcock, the current efforts by global powers, including the United States, to broker a ceasefire between Israel and Gaza could be a precursor to this prophesied covenant. He referenced recent U.S. negotiations, noting, “The U.S. has been engaging with Egypt and Qatar to outline a final take-it-or-leave-it deal.” This type of forced agreement, Hitchcock suggested, mirrors the kind of compelled covenant mentioned in the biblical text. He explains that the Hebrew term used for “confirm” or “make” a covenant in Daniel 9:27 can imply enforcement or imposition.

Hitchcock believes the Bible’s prediction of a temporary peace, enforced by the Antichrist, aligns with the current geopolitical climate. He argued that this treaty will lead to the rebuilding of the third temple in Israel, a key event in end times biblical prophecy, and will ultimately be broken by the Antichrist midway through the seven-year period. “He will double-cross Israel, and all hell will literally break loose in the land of Israel in the end times,” Hitchcock said.

Hitchcock emphasized that the seven-year Tribulation does not begin with the Rapture, a common misconception. “The seven-year tribulation begins with some kind of a treaty or a truce… that brings peace to Israel,” he clarifies. He suggested that this period could begin at any time, potentially soon after the Rapture.

“The world is ripe and ready for the rise of the Antichrist,” Hitchcock continues, adding that the next significant event on the prophetic timeline is the Rapture, which could happen at any moment. He encouraged listeners to be prepared, saying, “May our Lord Jesus come quickly, and may He find us ready when He comes.”
