Texas Education Board Greenlights Plan to Bring Bibles Into Schools

The Texas Board of Education passed a rule that permits Bible-based curriculum in elementary schools.

While the curriculum is optional for schools, those who choose to adopt it will receive additional funding.

The rule was approved in a final 8-7 vote after the board indicated their support for the matter earlier this week.

A Democrat and attorney who voted against the rule, Staci Childs, said, “So if those facts alone, if a parent or a teacher who didn’t feel comfortable teaching this were to bring this up to a court, I believe they would be successful. And in my good conscience, in protecting my bar license, I just do not feel that these materials are yet reflective of the experiences and the nuance of Texas students.”

Those who supported the rule argued that many common, everyday phrases and ideas stem from the Bible.

“It is said that there are close to 300 common-day phrases that actually come from the Bible,” said Mary Castle, the director of government relations for Texas Values. “So students will benefit from being able to understand a lot of these references that are in literature and have a way to be able to comprehend them.”

Russell Brand Explores Public Prayer and Speaking in Tongues: What Does the Bible Say?

Russell Brand, a comedian-turned-cultural commentator, is no stranger to asking hard questions. In a recent video, he delved into the Spirit-filled territory, grappling with two vital questions for believers: “Is it OK to pray in public?” and “What about speaking in tongues?” As a relatively new Christian, his earnest pursuit of truth reflects a heart eager to grow in faith. Let’s explore what Scripture says about these questions and why they matter for all of us.

Speaking in Tongues: A Heavenly Gift

Russell shares candidly, “Hey, I’ve been speaking in tongues. I’ve been praying in tongues… I thought, ‘Anyone can do that, it’s just babbling incoherent nonsense.’ But I’ve been doing it.” His initial skepticism mirrors that of many who have encountered this practice for the first time. However, speaking in tongues is not mere “babbling”; it is a spiritual gift described in 1 Corinthians 12 as one of the manifestations of the Holy Spirit.

Paul writes, “To one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge… to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues,” (1 Cor. 12:8-10). This passage shows that tongues are a legitimate spiritual gift meant to edify the believer and, when biblically interpreted, the broader church.

Breaking NewsSpirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

Yet, Paul also advises balance: “He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church,” (1 Cor. 14:4). Speaking in tongues is primarily a private communion with God unless interpretation is provided in a corporate setting. Russell’s sense that “praying in tongues… seems like some private thing” aligns with Paul’s teaching. This intimacy is one reason many believers cherish the practice as a deeply personal way to connect with God.

Praying in Public: The Heart Matters Most

Russell’s second question, “Do you think it’s okay to pray publicly?” is equally important. He acknowledges both the beauty and potential pitfalls of public prayer, referencing Jesus’ caution in Matthew 6:5: “When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men.”

Here, Jesus critiques those who pray for the sake of attention, not the act of public prayer itself. The key is the heart’s motive. When prayer becomes a performance, it loses its power. However, corporate prayer and public expressions of faith are vital to the Christian witness. Jesus Himself prayed publicly, such as at the tomb of Lazarus (John 11:41-42), demonstrating that public prayer can glorify God and inspire faith.

Evangelism and Edification: Finding the Balance

Russell’s closing remarks reflect his desire to reconcile the personal intimacy of prayer with the public necessity of evangelism: “Praying together and preaching His word and bringing people together is so important… Let me know what you think about praying in public and the intimacy and privacy of our prayer, but also the necessity of evangelism.”

Scripture affirms the need for both. Acts 2 provides a powerful example of public proclamation when the apostles, filled with the Holy Spirit, spoke in tongues and preached to a crowd, leading to the conversion of thousands. At the same time, Jesus’ frequent retreats for private prayer (Luke 5:16) remind us that intimacy with God fuels our public witness.

Encouraging Russell’s Journey

Russell’s willingness to explore these questions so publicly is commendable. His humility and honesty are refreshing in a culture that often avoids spiritual matters altogether. To Russell, we say: Keep seeking. Scripture assures us, “You will seek Me and find Me, when you shall search for Me with all your heart,” (Jer. 29:13).

Praying in tongues and public prayer are not opposing practices but complementary facets of a vibrant Christian life. As you navigate these questions, Russell, know that your journey inspires others to deepen their understanding of faith. Thank you for reminding us that asking questions—and seeking answers in Scripture—is a vital part of growing closer to God.

Israel Set to Accept Lebanon Ceasefire to be Declared on Tuesday, Despite Protests from Northern Mayors

Israel is set to agree to a ceasefire with Hezbollah in Lebanon, with the cabinet planning to meet on Tuesday to formally approve the agreement despite the protests of northern leaders and several coalition members, according to several reports by Israeli media.

Meanwhile, the IDF has raised its alert level in several areas of northern Israel, anticipating that the terror group may launch a barrage of rockets just before the ceasefire takes effect, aiming to frame the act as a declaration of victory.

The Saudi Asharq Al-Awsat news outlet reported that U.S. President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron may announce the agreement tomorrow morning.

However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with senior ministers and close affiliates on Tuesday morning to discuss the agreement, ahead of a cabinet meeting later in the day that is expected to grant formal approval.

An Israeli official told The Times of Israel (TOI) that Netanyahu gave the green light after reviewing the final draft of the agreement, which will include a side letter with the United States to guarantee Israeli freedom of action to enforce violations militarily.

Breaking NewsSpirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

“It’s a Mabam [war between the wars] in Lebanon,” the official said. “We don’t know how long [the ceasefire] will last. It could be a month, it could be a year.”

Israel and Lebanon will reportedly coordinate their moves through the office of US CENTCOM’s General Michael Kurilla, who visited Israel numerous times during the war, including this week.

Despite Israeli objections, the international committee monitoring the ceasefire will include involvement from France. Israel reportedly agreed to its involvement after France assured it would not enforce the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrants against Netanyahu, according to TOI.

The reports of an imminent agreement were met with opposition and frustration by several mayors and local leaders in northern Israel, who said they were not informed and remained dissatisfied with the security situation. They demanded the IDF continue degrading Hezbollah’s capabilities in the north.

Avichai Stern, mayor of border town Kiryat Shmona, slammed what he called the “surrender agreement.”

“I call on our leaders to stop and think about the children of Kiryat Shmona. Look them in the eye and don’t risk their fate to be the next hostages,” he said.

“Why don’t we finish what we started?! We succeeded in collapsing Hezbollah, and instead of continuing to crush the organization and pulverize it to the ground, we inject it with oxygen and give it CPR? And where will our residents return? To the ruined city without security and without a horizon?! Has everyone here gone crazy?”

Moshe Davidovich, head of the Mateh Asher Regional Council in the Western Galilee, told Ynet News: “I ask myself, am I living in a dream or am I hallucinating – or is whoever makes the decisions in the Israeli government hallucinating?”

“To create false representations for us, after people have been confined in shelters for more than a year, after children have been peeing in the bed for more than a year, after the mental health here has reached the end of its ability to suffer, is simply a mockery of the dead,” Davidovich added.

Kan News reported that residents and mayors in the north have yet to receive any details regarding the ceasefire terms.

“Netanyahu, present the agreement,” demanded Benny Gantz, chairman of the National Unity party. “It is the right of the residents of the north, the soldiers, and the citizens of Israel to know.”

On Monday evening, the IDF raised the alert levels along the border, as well as in the Golan Heights. This means that schools will remain closed, gatherings will be restricted to 10 people in open areas and 100 people in enclosed spaces. Workplaces may only operate if a safety shelter is accessible within the required timeframe in the event of a siren alert.

In Haifa and its suburbs, schools will only be permitted to open if students can reach the shelter within the designated time.

Among the first to criticize the incoming truce – but without threatening to leave the government – was National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, who called it “a grave mistake” in a tweet on 𝕏.

“A historic missed opportunity to eradicate Hezbollah. I understand all the constraints and reasons, and it is still a grave mistake… Precisely now, when Hezbollah is beaten and longs for a cease-fire, it is forbidden to stop,” he wrote.

Despite the protests, the official cited by TOI stressed that the agreement would still be signed. “There are ministers who speak to their base, and we take it into consideration. But Ben Gvir understands the importance. It’s in Israel’s interest,” he said.

Illegal Immigrant Released Following Alleged Killing of Beloved Pastor

An illegal immigrant is free after he purportedly killed a well-known Detroit-based Christian pastor.

That pastor, 72-year-old Stephen Singleton, was hit by a car while out for a stroll on the morning of Nov. 3. Singleton later died form injuries sustained in the accident.

The driver was an illegal immigrant from Columbia, law enforcement officials said according to local Fox affiliate WJBK.

Singleton did everything right that morning; According to investigators, the pastor was wearing a reflective vest and walking on a crosswalk, ABC News affiliate WXYZ-TV reported.

Despite this, and despite the driver’s illegal status, the Columbian was released from custody following the accident.

Singleton’s wife, Teri, is upset at that fact.

“He was a loving person who cared about everybody,” she said. “I had to sit and watch my husband of 53 years die in front of me and then to know that the person who did this is walking around is very difficult to deal with.”

She added: “He’s dead and they’re walking around. That’s bothering me.”

Nevertheless, Singleton’s family has chosen to put their faith above a desire for revenge.

“I will not be angry because this has happened,” Singleton’s daughter, Ruth, told WJBK.

She noted that her father’s teachings played a role in that peace of mind: “I refuse to be angry. I will still love like my Dad taught me to.”

Pastor Singleton was known for many good deeds, including during 9/11 when he rushed to Ground Zero to help others as a volunteer.

The family has since set up a GoFundMe account to help cover various medical and funeral expenses related to Singleton’s death.

Allie Singleton, the pastor’s granddaughter, set up the account and wrote a lengthy message detailing how much her grandfather meant to her.

“He never met a stranger, was a friend to everyone and made lifelong friendships. His motto was everyone was his brother or sister and sharing support, wisdom and the love of the Lord was his responsibility. He was a father to the fatherless, as well as all his nieces and nephews and every child in all the neighborhoods he frequented,” Allie Singleton wrote.

“All our family activities and outings included every child that could fit in his van. Another of his greatest joys was being a religion instructor for Saint Cecilia Elementary School in Detroit. He loved every child he encountered and always saw their greatest potential. Whenever possible throughout their lives he never stopped mentoring, ministering, giving them love and life instruction.

“Thank you for helping us in our time of need and keeping his memory alive. We are devastated and will surely miss our Papi.”

L.A. Marzulli Reveals The Mountainside Werewolf Encounter

In a recent video, L.A. Marzulli shared a former worship leader’s testimony of having an encounter with a werewolf while driving through Jellico Mountain on I-75.

“As I slowed down around a curve, there was a large creature standing in a ditch a few feet off the shoulder of the highway,” the worship leader’s letter read. “Even though the ditch was a couple of feet deep, he looked like his head was a little higher than mine, and I was driving a large type minivan.”

It was the creature’s clothing and torso that caught the driver completely off-guard.

“He wore only what appeared to be blue jeans that were stretched tight,” the letter continues. “His bare upper body was completely covered with what seemed to be the fur of a German Shepherd color, thickness and length. He was built like a large, professional bodybuilder. Everything about him looked like a super-sized human male with the exception of the fur and his werewolf head.”

The person described the creature as having a snout and pointed ears, just like an animal. However, they say that the face was eerily human, almost costume-like.

“I really pressed the brake pedal so as to really get a good look. His eyes seemed to look directly into mine with his head turning to follow my gaze. It was very surreal,” the letter read.

While this seem hard for some to believe, the truth of the spiritual realm merging into the physical world is much more real than we ever could imagine.

Shapeshifters are real,” Marzulli says. “There’s absolutely no doubt about it.”

Marzulli points out that shapeshifting is a common practice for shamans as they tap into the demonic forces of the second heaven.

“The second heaven is where the dragon, Satan…inhabits,” he says. “In Revelation there’s going to be what I’ve come to call the great eviction. The great eviction is where Michael and his angels fight with the devil and his angels and that age-old serpent is kicked out along with his cohorts.”

Is It Possible to Restore Prophetic Integrity?

In an exclusive interview with Charisma Media, Dr. Michael Brown discussed prophetic integrity and how we can use discernment when prophecies are inaccurate or don’t come to pass.

Looking specifically at the 2020 election and the multiple prophecies that were given that Donald Trump would win a second term, to now seeing him re-elected again four years later, Dr. Brown provides insight on how we can navigate these prophetic words.

Breaking NewsSpirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

One of the first things Brown points out is that there were some who were explicit in their prophecies, saying Trump would have eight consecutive years in the Oval Office.

“There were those who guaranteed Biden would not be inaugurated,” says Brown. “I watched them prophesy by name. I even reached out to them to try to interact without success. I watched them say after the results were given in favor of Joe Biden, I watched them say, ‘No, it’s going to be reversed…’ they were saying the elections will be overturned that Trump really won. They were prophesying that Trump truly was the president. He was the spiritual president and the earthly president.”

Brown says that along with these very determined beliefs that Trump would win, some continued to prophesy that a coup would happen and Biden’s time as the president would end.

“So, in point of fact, when they said that he will win, they meant in 2020. When the election results were announced against him, they said the elections were stolen,” Brown says.

Another point that Brown makes is the possibility that some could have seen in the spirit the outcome for 2024, but this goes to show why prophets are not to give dates and times of when words will be fulfilled.

Get your FREE CHARISMA NEWSLETTERS today! Stay up to date with current issues, Holy Spirit news, Christian teachings, Charisma videos & more!

“First Peter one tells us the Old Testament prophets, when God spoke to them about the sufferings of Jesus and the glory that would follow, God told them, ‘No, no, no; this is not for you. This is for a future generation.’ Any of us that have heard the Lord prophetically know that timing is very difficult, so unless you have a very specific word from God with times and dates, often something starts and then stops and then picks up later on, or you think it’s going to be now, but it’s five years down the line. So that’s why they could have said, ‘We really believe that Trump is going to be a two-term president, whether it’s now or in four years…’ that would have been one thing. They didn’t say that,” he says.

To order Michael Brown’s book, “Seize the Moment,” visit Amazon.com.

Brown also says that there are those who have humbly repented for missing the mark when they earnestly felt they had heard from the Lord. This should act as a reminder for the body of Christ not to immediately disqualify someone from the prophetic because they made a mistake.

“We’ve all made mistakes. If you minister long enough, you will. We’re not out to kill each other and throw each other under then bus,” says Brown. “We don’t have the view that some have that you stone them and disqualify them for life.”

T.D. Jakes Prayer: ‘Let Him Go in Peace’

Bishop T.D. Jakes, one of the most prominent voices in modern Christianity, experienced a medical emergency during his sermon last Sunday. Reports suggest he suffered a seizure, leaving many within the faith community pondering the spiritual and physical implications of such an event. As his sermon transitioned from a heartfelt prayer to instructions for giving, Bishop Jakes’ vulnerability seemed to surface, culminating in the abrupt health crisis.

The moment was poignant, especially given his closing words: “I still love to preach. I ain’t tired of preaching. I miss you, I miss you.” This sentiment shines a light on the paradox that many in ministry face—the deep love for their calling weighed against the demands that come with it. For Jakes, who had recently returned from ministering in Zimbabwe for The Jubilee Conference earlier in November, the strain of global ministry likely compounded the exhaustion.

In the aftermath of the incident, Bishop Jakes’ daughter, Sarah Jakes Roberts, and her husband, Touré Roberts, provided an update on his condition through social media. They assured the faith community that Bishop Jakes is in stable condition and recovering well from the incident.

Isaiah Saldivar: This Is Why Megachurch Pastors Fail

Over the past year, we have unfortunately seen a lot of megachurch pastors appear to fall into sin. However, what is the spiritual principle behind this? Why does it seem as though we keep having leaders fall?

In a recent livestream, Isaiah Saldivar discussed why we continue to see this heartbreaking phenomenon of megachurch leaders falling.

The first thing that Saldivar mentions is how there was a time when pastors wanted nothing more than to be friends with the world, craving the attention of being known for speaking on secular podcasts, marrying and spending time with celebrities and gaining attention from people outside of the faith. However, this couldn’t be further from what the people of God are called to be like.

Emmanuel, God With Us

God has a beautiful plan for your life. And He wants to lead you each step of the way. That is why one of the names of God, Emmanuel, means “God with us.”

God wants to be intimately involved in our lives. He wants us to know His voice and follow Him.

In fact, He wanted to be with us so strongly that He sent His Son, a part of Himself, to physically walk the earth. That baby in the manger was God, and He is still with us today. He’s our hope for change.

Breaking News. Spirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

When I think about the person I am today, I am amazed how God has changed me—and I’m so grateful for the ways He allows me to help others now. There were times when I came very close to giving up along the way. But God was faithful to be with me, help me and keep me going on those days.

I know that apart from Him, I can do nothing. However, in Him, I have everything I need to live the abundant life He gives me in Christ. It is the same for you. You can all have the strength and confidence to keep going because of what Jesus has done for you … because God is with you every day. God really cares about you—a lot.

Have you noticed that when God speaks to your heart, He only has caring and encouraging things to say? He never asks us, “Why aren’t you more like this person?” or, “When are you ever going to amount to something?” That’s because in Christ, God sees you as perfect.

Many people don’t realize God sees them that way. In fact, if you have ever been hurt or rejected, you may have thought God is mad at you and doesn’t really listen to your prayers.

But that is not true. The fact that God sent Jesus is proof of that. Jesus came, He lived, He died and He rose again so we can have a real relationship with our Father God. He did it all for you.

In Christ, you are His own special child. God decided to adopt you because it gave Him joy, as it says in Ephesians 1:5 (NLT), “God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.”

You can’t earn or buy His love. It is simply a gift He wants you to receive because you are so dear to Him—you are His child! Romans 8:38 (NLT) tells us, “Nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.”

I encourage you to be bold enough to believe that God let Jesus come to earth and go through everything He went through just for you—because you’re that precious and valuable to Him! Take a step of faith and believe that God loves you intimately, He has a great plan for your life, and His promises are true.

Renewed Like the Eagle

Some of you may be struggling right now and finding it difficult to recognize the many blessings Father has given you. But I want you to ask yourself: “Has God brought any good things into my life?”

Beloved one, first and foremost—aren’t you going to heaven? Has He ever given you anything that has brought you pleasure or happiness? Did you ever enjoy spending time with family and friends? Has anybody ever shown you love? Did someone ever demonstrate kindness to you? Maybe you liked the outdoors and playing with your classmates when you were younger? Do you enjoy looking at God’s amazing creation?  Do you still relish the food that you eat? Are you able to see or hear? Do you have relationships that bring you satisfaction and fulfillment?

Every one of these that adds to our joy, every simple pleasure that we have ever experienced or that we are capable of feeling—is a gift from God.

“Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow” (James 1:17, NASB).

God is truly good, and He is worthy to be praised! He desires for us to walk with an attitude of thanksgiving.

Breaking News. Spirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

Yeshua told a story about 10 lepers (Luke 17:11-19). He healed 10, but only one came back and gave thanks. Jesus said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine—where are they?” (Luke 17:17).

I believe this is, unfortunately, the mindset of many of us today. Only about 10% of us are thanking Father God for all the good that He has brought into our lives. If we want to experience more of God’s goodness, we need to acknowledge what He has already done. And it is a choice. We are self-aware; we can decide if we are going to be thankful or if we are going to be ungrateful.

Let us consider the words of King David: “Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits; Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion; Who satisfies your years with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle” (Ps. 103:2-5, NASB 1995).

I was recently visiting a friend who is 91 years old. She has known the Lord for over 50 years. Every time I see her, it is as though she had just been saved the week before. At each visit, she has got a new joy or a fresh revelation.  She has never stopped hungering or thirsting for the things of God.

When I entered her apartment, the instant I laid my eyes on her, I saw the dew of heaven on her face. Yes, her hair is all gray, and she can hardly walk. She is bound to her apartment and doesn’t get out. Yet heaven was resting on her face. There was a peace. There was a youth. There was a beauty. And I said in my heart, “I am witnessing the reality of God’s Word. That truly, those that are His, that put Him first—Elohim the Creator will be their portion even when their hairs are gray.” Beloved, just as David said, we will be transformed day by day so that our youth is being renewed like an eagle. Praise HaShem!

You may be sitting somewhere right now and thinking, “My youth is not being renewed like the eagle.”  I am speaking particularly to some of us, who as we are aging, we are dealing with things in our lives and in our body that we never experienced when we were younger. Maybe our eyesight or hearing is going bad, and all the other things we sometimes need to deal with that come with age.  I understand that. In fact, the Bible tells us that the outer man is decaying, but not to lose heart.

“Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day” (2 Cor. 4:16).

The person that we actually are is not the outer man. It is not our hair, body, face or even our vital organs; all of that is going to fade away. We are going to leave our bodies. It is not our outer man right now that is being renewed, even though God does bring restoration at times to our physical bodies. We are talking about our inner man. If we are truly going after God in spirit and in truth, our inner man is being daily renewed.

God’s promises are reality. You can sink your teeth into them. Those who are going to please God must believe that He is and that He is bound by His Word to be a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Heb. 11:6). Will you go after God?

I can assure you of this: if you will go after Him and make Him first in your life, He will never leave you, He will never forsake you, and just as Jesus saved the good wine until last when He performed His first miracle, the last years of your life will be the best years of your life in the spirit. The power of God will become stronger and stronger and stronger upon you. Your spirit will more and more come into unity with HaShem, with Father God, and even though your outer man is decaying, your inner man will be renewed and rise up—with the strength of an eagle.

Breaking Update: Daystar President, Joni Lamb, Releases Official Statement on Recent Allegations

Daystar president and co-founder, Joni Lamb, addressed recent allegations and the decision to terminate son Jonathan Lamb’s employment at the network.

In a video posted to YouTube, Lamb addressed the ongoing situation to Daystar viewers.

“Recently, Daystar made the decision to terminate my son, Jonathan Lamb’s, employment,” Lamb says. “That decision was not taken lightly. It followed a 15-month review of Jonathan’s performance and his refusal to take any steps to satisfy a detailed performance improvement plan put in place. He also refused my offer to participate in a formal mediation to resolve grievances in a biblical and professional manner.”

In a statement posted to the Daystar website, Joni Lamb gives more details on the situation.

Rather than take any steps to improve his performance at Daystar, it seems clear now that Jonathan was focused on fabricating a smear campaign. You see, Jonathan was extremely disappointed that he was not named future President of Daystar following the death of his father and my husband, Marcus, despite the fact that Marcus had clearly given a directive to the family and the the Board that I would succeed him as President. His disappointment in not getting his way only deepened when I married Doug Weiss, who has been such a blessing to me, the rest of my family, and Daystar.

“I can tell you that as a mother, as a grandmother, this situation saddens me deeply and it grieves my heart because I love my family. I love all my children. I love my grandchildren. Everyone knows we have dedicated our lives to spreading the love of Jesus, and to see it attacked by my son Jonathan and his wife is truly heartbreaking.

I want to assure you that all the allegations that are circulating against myself, my late husband, and other members of my family are completely false and we have already begun to take legal steps to defend ourselves and will address the accusations in a God-honoring way.

We stand firm in our faith, knowing that God is with us, and His purpose for Daystar is far greater than any challenge we face.

“While this attack is very painful and wrong, I know that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against a spiritual enemy who seeks to destroy and divide, no matter what the cost. I want to ask you for your prayers. Thank you for your continued love and support.”
