Wikipedia Co-Founder Shares His Path from Agnostic Skepticism to Christianity

Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger has announced that after years of being an “agnostic” and a “skeptical philosopher,” he has now converted to Christianity.

“It is finally time for me to confess and explain, fully and publicly, that I am a Christian,” the 56-year-old wrote on his blog.

“Followers of this blog have probably guessed this, but it is past time to share my testimony properly. I am called to ‘Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.’ One of the most effective ways to do so is to tell your conversion story. So, here is mine,” he began.

In the detailed account, Sanger takes readers through his decades-long conversion process.

The online encyclopedia co-founder recalled early memories of going to the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, with his parents.

“My father was an elder in our church when I was a small child. I remember a few Bible commentaries on the bookshelves, which I found forbiddingly difficult,” he wrote.

Sanger said that he asked many questions about God and faith as a young child, but by his teen years he resolved that God did not exist and belief in Him seemed “irrational.”

“Without realizing it, I probably stopped believing in God when I was 14 or 15: even today, I do seem to remember the belief slipping away, as I occasionally mused that I no longer prayed or went to church,” he shared.

A few years later he settled in, becoming a “philosopher and a so-called methodological skeptic,” which he describes as “someone who withholds beliefs” that cannot be known “with certainty.”

Sanger shared, “When I got serious about matters, I would say, ‘I do not even know what “God” means.‘ But generally, I called myself an agnostic.”

By the time he arrived at college, Sanger knew he wanted to study philosophy and aimed to become a college professor.

However, he quickly became disillusioned with academia because of a lack of “any sincere concern for truth” among fellow philosophers.

Sanger said he took the most issue with modern atheists who claimed that “they simply lacked a belief that God exists, but their mocking attitude screamed that God did not exist.”

“I was always willing to consider seriously the possibility that God exists. They were not. Nor was I very hostile to religion,” he explained.

By 2001, Sanger had started Wikipedia and also began to more seriously search out whether God existed.

“After enough years of dealing with these ‘adepts,’ the thought slowly dawned on me: maybe, just maybe, I too had been indoctrinated, in a way. Perhaps I had misunderstood things I only thought I had understood,” he wrote. “Perhaps I had not been exposed to the best representatives of the faith. In short, perhaps, I had not given Christianity a fair shake. And yes, I couched this in terms of ‘Christianity’ to myself: I never found any interest in other religions. This thought sat uncomfortably in the back of my mind for many years.”

Tensions Rise as Hostage Deadline with Hamas Reaches Critical Stage

Saturday noon (Israel time) is the deadline for Hamas to release more Israeli hostages. Hamas, Israel and President Donald Trump all are focused on that time frame.

Hamas is indicating it’s ready to release three more hostages on Saturday. Israel warns that it must, or it’s war.

Israeli Government Spokesman David Mencer declared, “If those three are not released, if Hamas does not return our hostages by Saturday noon, the ceasefire will end and the IDF will resume fighting until the final defeat of Hamas.”

After seeing three nearly-starved hostages coming out in the last exchange, President Trump had demanded that Hamas let all of the remaining hostages go this weekend.

“Saturday at 12 o’clock, and after that, I would say all hell is going to break out,” Trump cautioned.

Yet, he also left the final decision up to Israel.

“I would say Saturday at 12, we want them all back. I’m speaking for myself. Israel can override it,” he added.

The terrorist group clarified that it would continue releasing hostages “as scheduled,” meaning only three hostages on Saturday. This runs contrary to Trump’s demand to free “all of the hostages,” and some calls by Israeli officials to release all nine remaining hostages who are alive and scheduled to be freed throughout the rest of the deal’s phase one.

Reportedly, Hamas claims the hostage release depends on Israel supplying caravans, tents, and heavy equipment for clearing rubble, its key demand in recent days.

Jailed for Preaching: Urgent Crisis Facing Persecuted Pastors

Eleven Nicaraguan pastors and ministry leaders are pursuing legal justice from an international court after being held in prison for months and facing $80 million in fines for holding mass evangelism campaigns spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.

As CBN News reported, those leaders had partnered with the U.S.-based ministry Mountain Gateway and successfully shared the Gospel with thousands of fellow Nicaraguans.

Britt Hancock, founder of Mountain Gateway Order, Inc., told CBN News how it all started. “In 2023, Mountain Gateway helped to organize a series of mass evangelism campaigns — eight of them throughout the year,” he said. “We began in February and had the last one in November. But 1,000,000 people in total came to those eight meetings.”

Pastors and ministry leaders affiliated with the Nicaraguan branch of a U.S.-based Christian ministry known as the Puerta de la Montaña were arrested shortly after their last outreach.

According to a Nicaraguan Police press release, the pastors were accused of money laundering and organized crime.

The ministry publicly denied the allegations and argued the charges were fabricated because the authoritarian regime of Nicaragua felt threatened by the success of the outreaches.

Although the government was unable to produce any evidence of the alleged illicit activity or alleged unlawful funds in court, the pastors were imprisoned for over eight months.

They could not contact their families or their own legal counsel but were rather set up with government-appointed lawyers who failed to provide them with any charging documents or files to prepare a defense adequately.

Last March, the 11 individuals were formally sentenced to between 12 and 15 years in prison and ordered to pay over $80 million in fines per person.

A month later, the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) International filed a precautionary measures request with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights saying the pastors were “fraudulently convicted.”

“No person should be imprisoned or punished for their faith, but that is exactly what has happened with these religious leaders. It is our prayer that Nicaraguan authorities will uphold the human rights and dignity of these pastors and that they will release them from their wrongful imprisonment,” the legal group declared last year.

Faith, Snow & Donuts: How 1 Man is Making a Difference

In the snowy hills of southwestern Pennsylvania, ministry is breaking free from tradition, embracing the thrill of snow sports while transforming lives.

Josh Knipple, a youth minister and ski shop professional, is using his passion for skiing and snowboarding to spread faith as part of Snowboarders and Skiers for Christ.

For Josh, the mountains are more than just a playground—they’re a sanctuary.

“You have that peace when you’re out here on the mountain—you get away from the noise of life, get away from busyness,” Josh says. “A lot of days, I’ll come out here and spend time in prayer, just ride up the lift.”

Each snowfall calls Josh and his family of six to the slopes, where they turn the mountains into both a place of fellowship and adventure. Balancing the demands of raising four children, serving as a youth minister, writing children’s books, and working at a ski shop, Josh sees each role as an opportunity to shine as a beacon of light on every mountain he conquers. But for him, this isn’t just about adventure—it’s a calling.

“What do you think Jesus did? He spent time with people. He built relationships with them, ate with them, drank with them… that’s ministry,” Josh explains.

Christian ministries reaching out to the snow sports community are part of a growing movement. While exact numbers are hard to pin down, it’s estimated that nearly 150 such ministries operate across the U.S. Skiers and Snowboarders for Christ alone shares the gospel in seven countries.

Josh serves the SFC mission on the slopes near his hometown in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Now closer to home, he focuses his efforts in Southwest Pennsylvania, particularly on Laurel Mountain. There, Josh’s approach is simple: faith and donuts.

Each Tuesday, before heading to the mountain, Josh stocks up on a dozen sweet treats. “It’s like I said, who doesn’t like a donut?” he laughs.

The donuts are more than just a snack—they’re a tool to connect with strangers, break the ice, and build relationships on the mountain. He sees them as a chance to love others and share the transformative power of faith.

“Build relationships, share Jesus—the best way to say it is to be myself and allow people to see how Jesus has changed my heart… and let them know He can do that for them,” Josh says.

Trump spoke first to Putin in a lengthy, wide-ranging phone call. “We agreed to work together, very closely, including visiting each other’s Nations. We have also agreed to have our respective teams start negotiations immediately,” Trump posted on social media.

Later, in a separate post, Trump said, “I just spoke to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine. The conversation went very well. He, like President Putin, wants to make PEACE. …It is time to stop this ridiculous War, where there has been massive, and totally unnecessary, DEATH and DESTRUCTION. God bless the people of Russia and Ukraine!”

Zelenskyy also spoke out after the conversation, stating on X, “No one wants peace more than Ukraine. Together with the U.S., we are charting our next steps to stop Russian aggression and ensure a lasting, reliable peace. As President Trump said, let’s get it done. We agreed to maintain further contact and plan upcoming meetings.”

Trump’s announcement came shortly after his Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth urged NATO leaders to abandon their hopes of restoring Ukraine’s pre-2014 borders and instead prepare for a negotiated settlement with Russia.

He also said it’s not feasible for NATO to admit Ukraine to the alliance. “The United States does not believe that NATO membership for Ukraine is a realistic outcome of a negotiated settlement,” Hegseth said.

“We went to, number one, fill their cup – and to reach those that would most likely never darken the door of a church – with the love of Christ and we saw an amazing response,” he said.

The ministry partnered with Duane Chapman, famously known as “Dog the Bounty Hunter,” and his wife, Francie Chapman, along with former NFL players Joe Jackson and Mike Barber to share the gospel and worship alongside many of the inmates.

“What a powerful and amazing weekend. Ministering at Angola Prison with Dog The Bounty Hunter and Mike Barber, Feb 1,” wrote Joe Jackson on Instagram. “Angola was once known as the bloodiest prison in America. It still is, but it’s the blood of the Jesus cleansing the soul.”

“The thing that stuck out to me most was the faith community (within the prison)…our pastors literally had tears running down their face for guys that they have prayed for, for so long (were now) accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior,” Bodine said.

How These Women Found Freedom Through Life-Changing Visions of Jesus

Women’s rights—or the stark absence of them—within Islam have sparked heated debates for centuries. Yet, the issue reached a boiling point in Sept. 2022, when the tragic death of Jina Mahsa Amini, a young Kurdish-Iranian woman, shocked the world.

Arrested by Iranian authorities for allegedly wearing “improper clothing,” Amini was brutally beaten in a police van, taken to a detention center where she collapsed and, just three days later, succumbed to her injuries.

Her death ignited a wave of protests across Iran, as women defiantly took to the streets, raising their hijabs like banners, chanting “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî” (“Woman, Life, Freedom”). The phrase echoed not just through Tehran but across the globe, as the world bore witness to a courageous uprising that demanded not just change but an entire shift in the fight for gender equality in the Islamic world.

Three former Muslim women gathered to dive deep into these issues in a powerful Roundtable discussion on a new program by “I Found the Truth”. It’s a ministry committed to sharing powerful stories of how Jesus is revealing Himself to Muslims worldwide through supernatural encounters like dreams and visions.

The new “I Found the Truth” Roundtable series creates a space for raw, honest conversation. Among the women were two Iranian-Americans who shared their personal journeys of seeking truth and confronting the harsh inequalities they faced as women within Islam. Yasra Larki, one of the women at the table, recalled how she was just nine years old when she was forced to start wearing the hijab in Iran – taught that even as a little girl, she was a temptation to men and thus must veil herself.

Larki reflected on the deep emotional struggle of being treated as less than human, as inferior to men. “I feel like when I look back, one of the hardest things I faced was knowing I didn’t have the same rights as men,” she shared. “It was like always being seen as less, as not worthy. Like a second-class human. Even in families, when a boy is born, there’s so much celebration. But when a girl is born, it’s not the same excitement. It’s just so sad.”

It began in 2014 with one church and now 821 churches in 62 countries hosted the event this year.

“It’s incredible to see the joy and hope in the faces of our Kings and Queens as they step onto the red carpet at Night to Shine—that moment when they realize the cheers and applause are for them, said Tim Tebow, founder, and chairman of the Tim Tebow Foundation.

“For many, it’s the first time they’ve ever felt truly celebrated, especially by someone outside their family. But that’s exactly why Night to Shine exists—to remind them of their inherent worth, that they are God’s beloved royalty, seen and cherished by Him every single day,” he continued.

‘It Changed Something in Me’: Trump Admits Attempted Assassination Transformed His Belief in God

President Donald Trump said an assassination attempt on his life drew him closer to God and that he believes people need faith to find true happiness.

Trump made his remarks at the 73rd annual National Prayer Breakfast Feb. 6, referring to the July 13, 2024, campaign event in Butler, Pennsylvania, during which he was hit in the ear by a bullet.

Two spectators were also injured during the shooting, and Corey Comperatore, a dad, husband and volunteer firefighter, was tragically killed.

“None of us knows exactly when our time on earth will be over,” Trump told those gathered at the prayer breakfast. “You never know—a truth I confronted a few short months ago when there was an incident that … was not fun.”

The president has frequently said he believes the Lord saved him that day.

He repeated this Thursday, explaining how people have told him it’s practically impossible he survived—an unlikely arc of events that happened when he turned his head slightly toward an immigration chart he was referencing during the campaign event.

“God was watching me,” Trump said, quipping, “immigration saved my life.”

“It changed something in me,” he said. “I feel even stronger. I believed in God, but I feel much more strongly about it. Something happened.”

‘All Glory to God’: Philadelphia Eagles Thank the Lord After Super Bowl LIX Win

After the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, key fixtures in the year’s biggest football game openly gave all the glory to God.

Case-in-point: Eagles Coach Nick Sirianni immediately credited the Lord while accepting the Lombardi Trophy on Sunday after his team’s big 40-22 victory.

“All glory to God,” Sirianni said.

And that’s not all. The victorious coach also told Fox Sports reporter Tom Rinaldi that he and his team feel truly “blessed” and grateful for their talent and accomplishments.

“God’s blessed us very much,” Sirianni said. “He gave us all the talents to be able to get here, so first and foremost, thanks to Him. … Thank God, thank You Jesus.”

And Sirianni wasn’t alone in looking above following the team’s big win.

Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts, who was named the game’s Most Valuable Player after completing two touchdowns and 17 of the 22 passes, also praised God for the victory.

“God is good—He’s greater than all the highs and the lows,” Hurts said as he took home the Pete Rozelle Trophy. “Couldn’t be here without my teammates. The effort, the determination everybody displayed to get to this point.”

He continued, “It’s never been about what any one of us does, it’s always been about what we do and how we’re responding to certain things.”

Hurts’ comment about the “highs and the lows” is one he’s made before. In fact, leading up to Sunday’s game, Sports Spectrum quoted him referencing this very statement while speaking about the importance of faith in his life.

“My faith has always been a part of me,” he said. “I’ve always wanted to root myself in that and keep Him in the center of my life and everything that I do. So through the highs and the lows, He’s greater than all of them, and that’s something that I can always acknowledge.”
