Messianic Rabbi: Are We Too Much Like Jonah?

Every year, followers of Judaism prepare for the approaching fall holy days of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Our thoughts turn towards repentance and forgiveness.

As part of my personal process of searching my heart before G-D in preparation for these special appointed times, I spend time reading and studying Bible passages and narratives which have themes that call G-D’s people to repentance.

One of my studies this year has been the book of Jonah. I began to read these words, which are very familiar to me since I have read them since I was a small child. However, as I read them this time, for some reason, they changed from being words about a man who lived a long time ago to words that are extremely relevant to the followers of Messiah today. These are the words:

“Now the word of Adonai came to Jonah, son of Amittai, saying: ‘Rise, go to the great city Nineveh and call out to her, for their evil has risen before me.’ But Jonah rose to flee to Tarshish, from the presence of Adonai. He went down to Jaffa and found a ship going to Tarshish, paid the fee and went down into it to go with them to Tarshish—away from the presence of Adonai” (Jon. 1:1-3)

As I read these verses, three things jumped out at me. First, Jonah was called by G-D to go to Nineveh, a Gentile city outside the boundaries of Israel. Second, the reason Jonah was called was because Nineveh had become evil. Third, twice in these verses we read the words “away from the presence of G-D.” These words hit me like a sledgehammer and brought conviction to my heart.

Just as in the first point above, as we look around our world today, it would be hard not to see the similarity between the evil of Nineveh and the growing evil of our world. We live in a world in which a growing number of people call evil good and good evil. And just as Jonah was called to go to Nineveh, we have a similar calling to our world, as we read in Matthew 28:19:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, immersing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Ruach ha-Kodesh, teaching them to observe all I have commanded you. And remember! I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matt. 28:19-20).

Just as in the second point above, we who are part of the body of Messiah, also known as the Commonwealth of Israel, have been called to reach out to those who are outside of that Commonwealth: evil people, sinners and unbelievers.

And just as in the third point, too many of us respond like Jonah by rejecting the call to preach the Good News. The result is exactly the same when we refuse to go to those to which we were called; we end up moving away from the presence of G-D.

Wow, just think about that for a moment. If we are not obeying the commandment to go into all the world and preach the Good News, we are moving away from the presence of G-D. So, if we want to know why we don’t seem to have the fire of G-D in our midst and if we are not seeing miracles, signs and wonders in our services and homes, we need to consider that we may have joined Jonah in running away from our calling. Remember, we can be running away from our calling even if we are sitting, standing, praying and worshiping in our house of worship.

And the result of running away from our calling will always result in our running away from the presence of G-D.

As we read Jonah chapter four, we find out that the reason Jonah didn’t want to go to Nineveh was because he knew that if he preached the message of repentance to them, they would repent and that G-D would forgive them. Unfortunately, this is the same reason that too many of us don’t want to fulfill G-D’s calling in our lives—even if we don’t want to admit it to ourselves.

We look at those in our world the same way Jonah looked at the people of Nineveh. Those people are evil and they deserve G-D’s judgment and if we preach the Good News to them, they will repent and G-D will forgive them.

Now, I know that most of us would say, “That isn’t what I believe,” or, “That isn’t what’s in my heart,” but the truth is that if deep down we didn’t think like Jonah, then we wouldn’t be running away like Jonah. If we want to dwell within the presence of G-D, we need to repent from being like Jonah and begin to preach the Good News to our Nineveh.

Should We Fast for a Great Awakening?

On April 21, 2007, the Lord woke me up at midnight and spoke a lengthy word to me about America. I have read over these words often over the years since then, and I’ve seen parts of this prophecy unfold. I am waiting for the ultimate fulfillment. I heard the Lord say:

“There is a Great Awakening coming to this nation. For I have heard your cries and I long to heal your land … Only those things which can be shaken, will be shaken that the sin in the land may be laid bare.

“Repentance. I require repentance from My people who have through the generations allowed the enemy to take ground in this nation. I require repentance for the abortions and for the prayerlessness. I require repentance for the apathy and for the idolatry. You shall have no other gods before me. I am indeed the God of America.

“Yes, there is a Great Awakening coming to this nation. I am the author of it, and I will bring it to pass. Just turn from your wicked ways and humble yourselves. Stand in the gap and make up the hedge. I am the Lord, and I am a warrior. I will not leave or forsake this country. I will fight through you, and with you to regain what has been lost.

“Be encouraged now because as you go forth boldly with My Word and My Spirit, there will be the sound of truth, and it will prevail in the land. Speak boldly and clearly and watch as the mighty men arise to take their positions on the wall and in the churches and in the marketplaces, for I am raising up deliverers and reformers in this generation who will not shrink back at the challenge that is coming in the days ahead.

“Yes, it will grow darker before My light shines brightly from this nation again. But the light has not been extinguished and will not be extinguished. The time to rise up is now. I am calling you to war. I am calling you to repentance. I am calling you to My side. I am the Captain of the hosts. I am calling you to victory. I am calling you to destiny. Will you answer?”

Will you answer? Whether you live in America or some other nation, God has revival on His mind. He sent Jesus so that none would perish, but all would have eternal life through faith in His Son (see John 3:16). When we answer God’s call to repentance and to fasting, we are helping shape the history of our nations.

It’s Getting Darker

Many years after releasing this prophecy, we’re seeing the darkness increase. Keep in mind, when the Lord spoke these words to me I had no idea we even needed a Great Awakening. I was not a student of revival history. This was before the Great Recession in 2008. It was before immorality was legalized. It was before COVID. Clearly, we need a Great Awakening.

This Prophetic Declaration Will Combat the Enemy’s Lies That Block Your Healing

Are you believing the lies of the enemy? Do you struggle to believe that God loves you? Do you feel like He has some master plan to harm you?

The truth of the matter is that God is not against you, but unless you know the promises in His Word, you will believe the enemy’s lies. To help you overcome the lies concerning God’s will and ability to heal you, I have written up the following confession of faith to combat the enemy’s lies that block your healing.

In the name of Jesus, I am loved (Rom. 5:6) and loved unconditionally (2 Tim. 2:13), I am adopted (Rom.8:15), God is my Father, and I am His child (2 Cor. 6:18), I am not alone (Heb. 13:5), God is always with me (Matt. 28:20).

God thinks about me (Jer. 29:11). His precious thoughts about me outnumber the sands of the earth (Ps. 139:17). I am valuable to Him (Matt. 10:31), and He says that I am chosen, royal, holy and special to Him (1 Pet. 2:9).

I judge God faithful (Heb. 11:11), truthful (Num. 23:19), just (Deut. 32:4), able (Rom. 4:21), willing (Matt. 8:3) and faithful to heal me (1 Thess. 5:24).

I have been redeemed from the hand of the enemy (Ps. 107:2)—the thief, the devil who comes to steal, to kill and to destroy (John 10:10)—and loosed from the contents within his hand, the curse (Gal. 3:13) and delivered from the spirit of fear and the power of death (Heb. 2:14-15; 2 Tim. 1:7).

I believe in my Lord Jesus Christ, Jehovah-Rapha, the God who heals (Ex. 15:26), and in the power of His blood to heal me (1 Pet. 2:24).

I find comfort in knowing that He bore my griefs, carried my sorrows and pains, was wounded for my transgressions, crushed for my wickedness, the punishment for my well-being fell upon Him and by His wounds I am healed (Isa. 53:4-5).

I take my God-given authority (Luke 10:19), and with the power of life and death in my words (Prov. 18:21), I renounce this spirit of death attacking me and my family, and I release the Spirit of life to flow through my every cell, tissue, organ and system to cleanse, purify, heal, re-create and make me whole again in spirit, soul (mind and emotions) and in my physical body too. In Jesus’ name, amen!

Quote this confession of faith, no less than three times per day, get it deep into your spirit and allow the power of His healing word to have its way in you.

I Believe Dr. Stella Immanuel and Frontline Doctors Have Been Vindicated and Deserve an Apology

When I heard that Anthony Fauci was stepping down in December as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and chief of the NIAID Laboratory of Immunoregulation, as well as the position of chief medical adviser to the president, I knew I needed to interview Dr. Stella Immanuel on my podcast the “Strang Report.”

It seems the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Fauci are now backpedaling and are admitting that the COVID vaccine doesn’t prevent the disease, that masks are ineffective and that Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin actually are effective. These are the protocols they previously demonized if anyone disagreed with the CDC “party line.”

Immanuel was one of the original frontline doctors who publicly said that the CDC was lying to the American people. America’s Frontline Doctors were canceled in many ways, and I know this because I interviewed Immanuel throughout the height of the pandemic:

  • In Aug. 2020 I interviewed Immanuel for my podcast on why the CDC does not want the American people to know about Hydroxychloroquine when it works in other countries.

  • In May 2021 I interviewed her again on the spiritual warfare she faced for standing up for her beliefs.

  • In Aug. 2021 we talked about the challenge to find pharmacies to fill prescriptions from doctors who are not part of the cancel culture or Big Pharma.

I had seen her on TV with the other Frontline Doctors, and had come to respect the stand she has taken. As I got to know her, I quickly warmed up to her as a person. I got to see what a dynamic Spirit-filled Christian she is and the strong belief she has in spiritual warfare.

As time passed, I had the privilege of publishing her book titled “Let America Live.”

In my podcast, which you can listen to here, Immanuel says, “I believe Anthony Fauci wants to resign now that he has done the worst damage, not just to America, but to the world. A lot of people died because of what Anthony Fauci did.”

Immanuel and others think it’s about time Fauci apologizes to the American people. However, she says that she does not trust the CDC even though they have backed down on COVID now, partly because of the upcoming midterm election and that voters are so disgusted with all the restrictions. However, she fears this is merely a reprieve and that later it will be something else that the Left, and the CDC, will use to control citizens. And I might add, take away our rights.

I have a special interest in COVID because during the lockdown in spring of 2020, I wrote a small book called “God, Trump and COVID-19” in two weeks. At the time everyone was trying to figure out what was going on, and I was trying to discern what was happening from a spiritual dimension. I went through the book this week to remind myself two years later of what I wrote. Much of what I speculated about has turned out to be true. The book, by the way, is still for sale on and sold on MyCharismaShop.

At the beginning of the pandemic I did podcasts with a few Chinese citizens now living in the United States who I was connected to by friends. I also interviewed missionaries in Hong Kong. They were saying in February 2020, a month before the lockdown, that the Chinese government was lying, and that the virus came from a Wuhan lab. This is all in my book. Of course I gave disclaimers that I could not verify it at the time, but now it has turned out to be largely true.

“You know during that time they had like a shadow government in the background controlling all nations. This stuff came from the WHO (World Health Organization), it came down to the CDC and it went to the hospitals and all the protocols were given and they were followed in lockstep in all nations,” Immanuel told me.

I have long felt that the virus, as serious as it may have been in the beginning, was used by politicians to fearmonger, telling people it was much worse than it really was and that there were actually cures that were being downplayed by Big Pharma because they didn’t get the big money from these other medications which were being used “off label.”

By the way, I had mild cases of COVID in December 2020 and again a month ago, and took both Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin and recovered quickly. I had two friends who died of COVID, and as far as I can tell, they did not use these medicines and ended up on ventilators in the hospital.

I believe a lot of the CDC regulations about masks and distancing weren’t really that effective. But not being a medical practitioner myself, I had no proof, and like a good citizen, I went along with the regulations back in 2020 when we didn’t know if this new pandemic was as bad as the “black plague” in Europe in the 14th century.

There is so much more that you can learn by listening to my podcast. In fact, Immanuel gave me information about doing spiritual warfare and actually praying and believing God to heal you if you got the vaccine (which is now creating a lot of health problems for those who took it), that we are putting it into a separate article to encourage people that they can pray and believe God to reverse any ill effects of “the shot.”

I want to say how much I admire Immanuel. She is a brave woman who has helped many people. Only a tiny fraction of her patients died of COVID. I think people like her who were willing to speak out, are partly what began the change in attitude on the part of many in the country that we shouldn’t necessarily believe everything that Fauci and Big Pharma said about COVID. Even conservatives were often fearful because they didn’t know who to believe. Now Fauci is changing his tune.

I encourage you to read Immanuel’s book, which you can buy at MyCharismaShop, and also to listen to the podcast that I mentioned, and to share this newsletter with friends, as well as the podcast.

And let’s see if Anthony Fauci and the CDC apologize for the havoc they created to the Frontline Doctors and others they canceled and demonized for views that now they admit were correct all along. {eoa}

How Saving Fatima Saved Me

My mother describes with wide-eyed whispers and divine wonder, the day when a judge decided prison wasn’t the answer for me. In a shocking move, she sentenced me to three years of probation (night curfew, drug treatment, mandatory check-ins, counseling and school).

I’d spent my teen years addicted to drugs and alcohol, and had committed many crimes; from robbery to car theft. In a miraculous course of events, the judge in my case suggested I take the opportunity she was giving to me as a way to become “the obvious leader I was meant to be.”

My mother and everyone who knew me shook their heads collectively. What? The comment was so out of context with the events of the trial that my mom wrote it down.

I spent three months in a drug treatment facility, where I mostly just tolerated things. At one point I found a brochure that invited young people on mission trips all over the world.

The drive for adventure and desire to grow in my faith gave me the confidence to ask my probation officer to go for two months to Malawi, Africa, and join a multi-denominational youth mission team in building an orphanage. I’m thankful she allowed it.

I was a juvenile delinquent still on probation. This mission organization ran like clockwork, and you either got on board with the rules and obedience to those rules or faced consequences. If you failed to do what you were told, you would be given an SB, a “special blessing.” This meant you got to work in the two-hour window of free time during the day. My nickname that summer was the “SB Queen.”

I had clashes with every authority in that mission organization. But I credit that mission organization with introducing me to discipling practices that would change my life. Bible reading, Scripture memory, godly and good work, community, prayer and submission were foundational to my growth as a disciple. Yet the thing that changed me that summer was a young African woman named Fatima.

During our last week in Malawi, we held open meetings for the community—music, drama and miming. Then each of us would share the gospel with at least one person from the crowd. That meant, going over a four-point tract telling the essentials of the gospel message.

Normally, I would have ignored the assignment. But I was coveting having my first free time all summer. I approached a young woman after the play and did the worst gospel presentation in the history of the world. I don’t think I’m exaggerating.

I said, “Sorry to bother you. But if I don’t go over some information with you I’ll get in trouble. Do you have a few minutes?”

Fatima assured me she did. I pulled out the paper and read the headings.

“God loves you,” I read, slow and loud. Then I added a little, “sweeet.”

You have sinned.” I added a little “bummer.”

“Jesus died to make things right.” I did a little “phew” and wiped my brow.

And finally, “Will you follow Him?”

I finally had free time.

Instead, Fatima said, “I think I would like to follow Jesus.” First I felt panic, then guilt: I probably should have read the whole thing, not just the headings.

I read it again including the bits underneath the headings that explained the gospel.

She nodded, “Yes, yes, I really would like to make this decision.”

I looked up all the Scripture verses and read them as well, and acted out the illustration the tract uses: being separated from God and then having God lead your life. I asked her one more time the question she had already responded to twice.

“Would you, Fatima, like to follow Jesus?”

And she said, “I really would like to.”

I finally let her. We prayed together.

Fatima left with a newfound faith because she had invited Jesus to be at the center of everything.

I left dumbfounded. What had just happened? How did it happen?

When the whistle signaled for Bible reading time, I sat down on the red African dirt and tried to read, but I couldn’t see the words because of my tears flowing.

See, I had believed that God could save anyone. After all, He had saved me. His love was unlimited. He could literally invade prisons with Good News. What I didn’t realize until this day on the other side of the world was that God could use me to save others.

God wanted to use me to help and serve other people. I wasn’t just a recipient of love; I was a bearer of it. I wasn’t just a participant in salvation; I was an ambassador of salvation. Once I understood that, something ignited in me—a hunger for service, to help others.

It changed everything.

Sometimes I describe this experience as my conversion to the wide, wide world of the gospel. Until that day, I’m pretty sure my salvation had me at the center. On that day, something shifted forever. I was no longer at the center. The wide, wide world was. And I was invited to partner with God in reaching it with the Good News.

My mother described this time in my life by saying, “You didn’t change speeds. You just changed direction.”

Because I had hope.

‘Christian’ Churches Are Becoming Temples to Drag Queens

On Saturday, Sept. 24, at 5 p.m., the First Christian Church of Katy, Texas, will host a “Drag Bingo” event for all ages.

This church is a member of the Disciples of Christ denomination, which promotes gender and sexuality affirmation, LGBTQ “marriages” and hosts a “Disciples LGBTQ+ Alliance” within their congregations. The “Drag Bingo” event, while claiming to be a drag event, is hosting several men who have had transgender surgeries.

To say this is an affront to the Lord, in the guise of openness, inclusion and love, does not convey the righteous anger and hurt this brings to God’s heart for His creation. He loves each and every individual that is wrongly promoting this event, and yearns for their repentance and spiritual transformation in Him.
