Did God Place Biden in The White House?

House Speaker Mike Johnson, a prominent Louisiana Republican and Evangelical, shared insights on God’s sovereignty and his perspective on the 2020 election during a recent GOP media briefing.

The 51-year-old leader, who assumed the role of Speaker last fall with the backing of former President Donald Trump, emphasized his faith and adherence to biblical principles in understanding political events.

At the GOP leadership’s weekly press conference Jan. 17, Johnson responded to a question about President Joe Biden’s victory, stating, “I’m a Bible-believing Christian, right? The Bible says that God is the one who raises up people in authority.” Expressing his personal faith in the Scriptures, Johnson affirmed that Biden’s election “must have been God’s will.”

Johnson drew parallels between his beliefs and those of America’s Founding Fathers, referencing the Declaration of Independence. He emphasized that the Founding Fathers acknowledged that our rights are not bestowed by the government but by God, emphasizing the equality and inherent value of all individuals.

According to Johnson, understanding God’s sovereignty leads to the belief that God allows individuals to rise to positions of authority. He reiterated, “[Biden’s election] must’ve been God’s will then. That’s my belief.”

Looking ahead to the 2024 election, Johnson expressed optimism about a potential “regime change” for the Biden administration. He believes that collective decisions made by the nation, guided by free will, will result in a better choice in the upcoming election cycle.

In his previous remarks in October, after being elected as Speaker amidst internal turmoil, Johnson stressed his belief in Scripture, and called on lawmakers to recognize their responsibility and use their gifts to serve the American people.

House Speaker Johnson’s election as Speaker received support not only from former President Trump but also from influential Evangelicals, including Ronnie Floyd, Tony Perkins and Franklin Graham.

Importance of Christians Putting God First in Election Season

Johnson’s perspective highlights the significance of Christians prioritizing God and His principles during election seasons. Christians are called to seek God’s guidance and align our choices with biblical values when participating in the democratic process.

Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.”

Colossians 3:17: “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”

1 Timothy 2:1-2: “Therefore I exhort first of all that you make supplications, prayers, intercessions and thanksgivings for everyone, for kings and for all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and honesty.”

Christians can impact society positively by aligning their votes with principles grounded in their faith. By seeking God’s wisdom and adhering to biblical values, we contribute to the promotion of justice, righteousness and the well-being of our nation

Man Who Spent 23 Minutes in Hell: How Do We Understand God?

A common misconception among Christians is the belief that man cannot understand God’s ways. We often hear people use the phrase, “God’s ways are not our ways” referencing the verse in Isaiah 55:8–9 (NKJV), which says, “‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,’ says the Lord. ‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.'”

People will misinterpret a verse like this and then draw a conclusion. This particular Scripture has been used to explain the reason we can’t know why things happen in life. This is an example of why it is so very important to read Scripture in the correct context. The Bible is our greatest tool to understand God and grow in our faith; however, we need to do a little research when we apply Scripture.

To whom was God speaking when He made that statement in the book of Isaiah? If we read the preceding verse, we find that He was speaking to “the wicked, who forsake His way, and the unrighteous man His thoughts” (v. 7). He is not speaking to His children. It’s the wicked who can’t know His ways, but we His children are expected to know His ways.

Your next question might be, “What about the sovereignty of God?” Of course God is sovereign, but only outside His written Word. Another way to put it is that He will not do anything against what He has already written because His Word will never change (Ps. 89:34, 119:89). His written Word declares His will, and He expects us to know what it says.

Remember when Jesus was about to heal the woman bowed over with a crippling disease in Luke 13:16? He said, “So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound … for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond?” He expected them to know that she had a right to be loosed being a daughter of Abraham, since He said, “ought not” posed as a rhetorical question.

Another example is when the apostles couldn’t cast the demon out of the boy in Matthew 17:17b, Jesus said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you?” He expected by then that they should have had the faith required and know it was His will to deliver the boy.

When Jesus entered Jerusalem on the donkey, He said in Luke 19:44b (KJV), “because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.” He expected them to know this date because it is spelled out in Daniel 9:25. The verse needs some study to discover the exact date, but God expected them to have been diligent to study and learn the time Jesus would enter Jerusalem and declare Himself the Messiah. They didn’t study, and He chastised them for it. As a matter of fact, He revealed that the city would be destroyed by their enemies.

Still more Bible verses clearly state we are to know His ways:

— “But let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me” (Jer. 9:24).

— “Having made known to us the mystery of His will” (Eph. 1:9a). He said He has made known to us His will.

— “Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is” (Eph. 5:19). In other words, If we don’t understand his will, we are unwise.

— “For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding” (Col. 1:9).

— “But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things” (1 John 2:20). John is not saying that we know everything there is to know, but that we have the capacity through the Holy Spirit to discern right from wrong and truth from error.

If we don’t read and study the Bible, we won’t know what His will is. Instead, we will voice our own opinion and possibly mislead people with inaccurate information. Always be sure that you seek understanding and apply the Word correctly.

Of course, we cannot know all things, but for the most part, God’s Word declares to us His ways and His will.

Discover God’s Will for Your Life

Marilyn Hickey loves to mentor people. She’s been a school teacher, a pastor’s wife and a Bible teacher, and she wants to pass on her mantle and raise everyone into the wonderful potential that God has for them.

Years ago, a woman mentored Marilyn, showing her valuable things that have sustained her to this day. Sharing her wisdom, Marilyn has compiled a wonderful resource, “Mentored by Marilyn,” that discusses the will of God.

It’s challenging to consider what God’s will is for you. Sometimes you feel confused and people tell you different things, your circumstances can change and your health can be a challenge. But with God’s help, you can figure it out.

Do you want to know God’s will for you? Do you want to get God’s best for your life—the plan He has for you? You need to understand that there’s the perfect will of God, permissive will of God and the overriding will of God. Sometimes God will move in a situation and override what’s happening.

An illustration of God’s overriding will is in the story of Balaam (Num. 22-24). Balaam was an iffy believer, up one day and down the next. He loved money. Balaam got a call from Balak to come and curse the Israelites. He wasn’t going to do it, but Balak offered him a lot of money. Balaam started to go, but we see the overriding will of God when his donkey gives him a hard time, crushing his foot against a wall. Balaam cursed the donkey, and the donkey talked back to him, saying, “Don’t treat me like this; I’ve been a good donkey to you.” So Balaam went to Balak and told him he would not say anything except what God said. Balaam looked down at the Israelites and instead of cursing them, he blessed them. The tribes were camped in a cross, and you cannot curse what God has blessed. (If you had a curse and gave it to Jesus and the cross, then when the curse came, the cross would have already taken it for you. So when you accept curses, you are accepting things that Jesus already took for you.) Like Balaam, you have a supernatural, loving heavenly Father who will override circumstances to get you in His will.

One of the most exciting things about having a relationship with God is to know His will for you. You need to know the sovereign will of God, the moral will of God and His individual will for you. You’re not an accident’, ‘ you’re a divine appointment. God’s plan for each person is unique. Want proof? Read Psalm 139 to be convinced.

There are times when you think you blew it and missed God’s will. Don’t stress, God can create a new beginning for you. He can take circumstances and make them work for you, not against you. You need to learn how to hear God’s voice, get to know His Word to be directed by it and practice the power of speaking in tongues. You need to know how to maximize your day God’s way to be a high producer.

Do you want to know God’s will continually? “Mentored by Marilyn,” Volumes One and Two, will help you fulfill your calling and ministry.

10 Keys to Survival in the Lord’s Prayer, Part 1

Prayer. Prayer is the master key that unlocks the door to a victorious life and a powerfully effective ministry. These are perilous times, but we are not helpless or hopeless. We have prayer. Where there are praying believers, there is a listening God, ready to intervene and equip us with everything required for this walk of faith. In Luke 21:36 Jesus points to prayer as the key to escaping the difficult days that are unfolding before our very eyes:

“Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”

10 Keys to Survival in the Lord’s Prayer

The key to survival is prayer. The Lord’s Prayer contains a full set of keys and is the perfect pattern for prayer that Jesus gave us. When they came to the Lord in Luke 11 and Matthew 6 and said, “Teach us to pray,” Jesus gave the most powerful keys for survival in Scripture’s most famous prayer.

Key 1

The Lord Jesus began by saying, “Our Father,” (Matt. 6:9). You cannot have a powerful life of prayer without a relationship with God. When the Lord began with the words, “Our Father,” He was talking about something significant and powerful. Only by the Holy Spirit are we able to have this personal relationship with the Father. In Romans 8:15 and Galatians 4:6, it is the Spirit who says Abba Father. Relationship is key. The first thing we must develop is a relationship with God the Father.

And today, many believers lack that understanding of relationship. Do we know God the Father? Many people talk about God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, but the Lord Jesus made it very clear: we must have a relationship with the Father. And that happens through Jesus. God will not hear those who have no relationship with Him. We must develop our relationship with the Father.

Key 2

Jesus said, “Which art in heaven,” (v. 9). That means our citizenship; we have to recognize that we are citizens of heaven. We must pray from the perspective that our citizenship is in glory. We know from Scripture that we are citizens of heaven.

“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,” (Phil. 3:20, NIV).

In the first minute of our salvation we become citizens of heaven, and we have rights. If you are an American, you have rights today as a citizen of the United States. We have greater rights as citizens of heaven. To establish yourself as a citizen of heaven, you must disconnect from the earth. Look to heaven. “Set your affection on things above,” Paul said in Colossians 3:2.

You might say, “How do I disconnect from the earth?” Stop watching things that are beneath your heavenly citizenship. Stop being involved in the affairs of this life. It’s quite simple. Everyone knows how to disconnect. Just shut it out. Shut the world out.

Key 3

You must build your worship. “Hallowed be thy name,” (v. 9). That is adoration. It means entering into the realm of worship. Not only are we to develop our relationship and citizenship, but we are also to develop our worship.

Key 4

Jesus said, “Thy kingdom come,” (v. 10). That means I put His interests ahead of mine. “Thy kingdom come” has to do with the destruction of the kingdom of evil in my life. It means I am to have no connection whatsoever to the satanic, no relationship with the flesh. I am responsible for shutting it out of my life. His kingdom coming into my life is what the Lord meant when He said, “Thy kingdom come.” How does His kingdom come into my life? By dismissing all other kingdoms out of my life. I don’t allow demonic influences or worldly connections. I shut the door and walk away from anything that would hinder the kingdom of God in my life.

Key 5

Jesus said, “Thy will be done,” (v. 10). This means we have to know His Word. You cannot know His will without knowing His Word. It is absolutely impossible. When the Lord said, “Thy will be done,” He was saying, “It is time for you to know His mind. It is time for you to know His revealed will, which is the Bible.” After you know His mind, His will, then you can confidently make your petition known.
