Roger Goodell Defends NFL’s Upcoming ‘Bad Bunny’ Halftime Show Amid ICE Controversy

The commissioner of the NFL, Roger Goodell, is once again defending the upcoming Super Bowl’s Halftime performance by Bad Bunny.

According to Fox News, Goodell said, “Listen, Bad Bunny is…one of the great artists in the world, and that’s one of the reasons we chose him.”

Goodell further stated that he believes Bad Bunny is the right fit for the job “to unite people” right now. Speaking of Bad Bunny’s criticism of ICE during the Grammy Awards, Goodell stated:

…he understood the platform he was on and this platform is used to unite people and to be able to bring people together with their creativity, with their talents and to be able to use this moment to do that and I think artists in the past have done that. I think Bad Bunny understands that, and I think he’ll have a great performance.

This unity, however, may not be for all people. As Bad Bunny previously stated, he plans to use this time to give thanks to “queer icons.”

When cultural movements celebrate identities, lifestyles or ideologies that conflict with biblical teaching, Christians are not called to bend under pressure or remain silent to avoid backlash. Instead, we are called to stand with humility, compassion and courage—anchored in God’s Word, not public opinion.

As the world grows louder in defining its own version of truth, the Church must grow stronger in faithfully living out biblical principles, refusing to compromise what God has clearly spoken.

Bad Bunny Confirms He’ll Use Super Bowl to Broadcast ‘Queer Icons’ into Living Rooms Everywhere

At this point, instead of watching the Super Bowl halftime show, just take a bathroom break.

Puerto Rican rapper Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, known by the ridiculous stage name Bad Bunny, has decided to use the opportunity not to entertain, but to honor “queer icons.”

Radar Online reported Thursday the Puerto Rican’s performance will also see him pay homage to “generations of drag, resistance and cultural rebellion.”

The outlet relayed comments by those close to the artist about the upcoming show.

“He loves controversy. He lives to push envelopes,” one stylist said.

“He is 100 percent going to wear a dress. A political thunderbolt disguised as couture.”

“He’s not playing it safe. The NFL has no idea what’s coming. Zero,” another source added.

Ironically, for what’s considered acceptable by today’s cultural norms, this is playing it incredibly safe. Nothing will go over better with droves of screeching leftists, mainstream media outlets, the celebrity class, and the ideologues that push their dogma than a man wearing a dress.

Wearing drag, being “queer,” and just generally acting like what would be considered strange 20 years ago is now the most normal manner of behaving.

He isn’t railing against the establishment; he’s just trying to put off the NFL’s conservative audience — an audience that, in the general cultural sphere, has never dominated it.

Culture leans left, after all.

Families and children watching at home, should they tune in, will now be subjected to the spectacle of a man in a dress.

For years, the LGBT crowd insisted their lifestyle was a personal choice, and they insisted they were not interested in influencing future generations. But in recent yeas, they’ve done an about-face, proudly taunting, “We are coming for your children.”

Drag queen story hour and “gender affirming care” already made this evident.

A truly norm-breaking performance would be one without any social commentary or political messaging — left or right — at all.

What if the halftime show was just good and everyone enjoyed it? How radical that would be.

Meanwhile, Total Pro Sports reported Turning Point USA’s alternative halftime show is “100 percent on,” although few details are known.

Whatever TPUSA has planned, assuredly, families won’t see men in dresses.

Petition Demands Country Legend Replace Bad Bunny for Halftime Show

A petition launched this week calls for the NFL to replace Bad Bunny with country music legend George Strait for the Super Bowl halftime show.

“The Super Bowl halftime show is one of the most watched music performances worldwide, celebrating not just the sport but the cultural tapestry of America,” the petition says. “In recent years, this performance has leaned increasingly towards modern pop and international artists. While this approach certainly broadens the audience, it’s pivotal to remember the roots that have made American music what it is today.”

George Strait “embodies the heart and soul of American music,” it notes, adding that Strait “is not only a legend in the country music genre but a staple in American musical history.”

The 2026 Super Bowl “offers a unique opportunity to pay tribute to American music’s rich heritage by featuring George Strait in its halftime show,” the petition adds. “His performances are known for their authenticity and raw emotion, qualities that are crucial as we aim to unite fans from coast to coast.”

“The Super Bowl halftime show should unite our country, honor American culture, and remain family-friendly, not be turned into a political stunt. Bad Bunny represents none of these values; his drag performances and style are the opposite of what families expect on football’s biggest stage,” it explains. “Again, George Strait embodies unity, tradition and the timeless American music that truly deserves the 2026 Super Bowl spotlight.”

Similarly, Turning Point USA announced that it will put on an “All American Halftime Show” as an alternative to the halftime appearance from Bad Bunny.

NFL Picks Bad Bunny for Super Bowl: An Insult to God and America

The Super Bowl halftime show was once an American cultural centerpiece. Families could gather around the television, enjoy the game and celebrate what made this nation unique. But in recent years the NFL has turned its most-watched spectacle into a stage for moral confusion and cultural decline. The selection of Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny for the 2026 halftime show is the latest and perhaps most blatant insult to both America and biblical values.

A Performer Who Represents Rebellion

Bad Bunny is not simply a global music star. He has built his brand on rebellion. Known for crossdressing, kissing male dancers and performing sexually charged routines, he has been hailed as a “queer icon” by progressive outlets. His videos have been praised by LGBT media for promoting gender-bending imagery and his concerts regularly include shocking visuals many would describe as demonic.

Is this really the image the NFL wants to beam into millions of American homes? Once again it seems the league would rather embrace rebellion against God’s design than celebrate what is good true and honorable.

Anti-American Messaging

Beyond the moral issues Bad Bunny has openly taken aim at the United States. He previously vowed not to perform in the continental U.S. because of immigration enforcement policies yet the NFL is rewarding him with the most American stage of all. In his music video “NUEVAYoL” he even depicts the Statue of Liberty draped with a Puerto Rican flag as a scene of cultural conquest not unity.

At a time when Americans long for unity tradition and respect for their country the NFL is signaling that it will side with globalist politics and cultural subversion over patriotism.

A Spiritual Issue at the Core

As Christians we recognize that this is not simply about poor taste in entertainment. Scripture tells us in Ephesians 6:12 that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities against powers against the rulers of the darkness of this world.” The halftime show has become less about music and more about pushing an agenda that glorifies darkness while mocking God’s created order.

Even many of Bad Bunny’s own fans and concert goers have pointed out the disturbing use of demonic figures and imagery at his shows. When the audience itself is calling out what looks like evil on display it should be a wake-up call that this is more than just edgy art. It is spiritual warfare playing out in real time on the biggest stage in America.

When a performer is praised for crossdressing celebrated for shocking audiences with perversion and platforms occult imagery for mass consumption we should not be surprised. The world has exchanged the truth of God for a lie just as Romans 1:25 tells us.

A Call for Discernment

The NFL’s choice of Bad Bunny is not just anti-family anti-God and anti-American. It is a declaration of where our culture is headed. Christians must not shrug this off as “just entertainment.” What we allow into our homes shapes the next generation.

Instead of applauding rebellion we must pray for discernment, stand boldly for biblical truth and continue to remind this nation of the words of 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways then I will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Bad Bunny’s halftime show may be cheered by the culture but it will be yet another moment when America turns its back on the values that once made her strong. For Christians and patriots alike it is time to recognize the battle we are in, a battle for the soul of our nation.
