Colorado GOP Nominee Victor Marx Recounts Terrifying Encounters With Demonic Forces

Colorado Republican gubernatorial nominee Victor Marx has described terrifying encounters with what he believes were demonic forces, offering accounts of spiritual warfare that much of the secular media readily dismisses.

Marx, a Marine veteran, missionary and Christian evangelist, documents the encounters in his 2024 book, “The Dangerous Gentleman: A Call for Men to Be Courageous in a Culture of Fear.”

During humanitarian operations in Iraq in 2017, Marx said he attempted to pray with a captured ISIS commander facing possible execution. He hoped the man would become “a brother in Christ while he still had the chance.”

Marx said the man’s appearance suddenly changed.

“His face became contorted, morphing into a hardened, angular mask within seconds,” Marx wrote. “I and those around me watched as that man transformed in front of our eyes. Muscles bulged out of his forehead. His eyes narrowed. Stranger still, his ears … got pointy.”

Marx said another person photographed the apparent transformation “from start to finish.”

He also recounted praying with a teenage girl in a youth prison who allegedly began growling, tearing at herself and making “otherworldly—or under-worldly—noises.” Marx said her appearance became reptilian and her eyes rolled backward.

“Believe it or not, I could actually smell sulfur and rotten eggs, to the point where I thought I would throw up,” he wrote.

Marx does not describe these individuals as possessed. Instead, he speaks of different levels of demonic influence.

“I believe the Word of God that I can pray for people and see people set free from, whether it’s demonic oppression,” Marx told 9News reporter Kyle Clark.

We know spiritual warfare is neither imaginary nor merely symbolic. Scripture declares that “our fight is not against flesh and blood,” but against spiritual forces of evil. Marx’s accounts confront a reality our culture—and too often the church—would rather ignore: Demons are real, but the authority of Jesus Christ is greater.
