Jonathan Cahn: The Prophetic Signs of Jesus’ Return Are Unfolding
What will Jesus find when He returns?
That is the sobering question at the heart of Jonathan Cahn’s message on the second coming of Christ—a message not centered on predicting dates or constructing prophecy charts, but on whether God’s people will actually be ready when the Master returns.
Drawing from Jesus’ words in Luke 12, Cahn emphasized that Christ warned His followers that the Son of Man would come at an unexpected hour.
“Our faith, your faith is not only based on what has happened, but what will happen,” Cahn said. “We are to be a people of expectation of the future, as people waiting for their master to return.”
Cahn pointed to what he sees as a remarkable connection between Old Testament Messianic prophecies. Zechariah describes the Messiah coming humbly to Jerusalem on a donkey, while Daniel depicts Him coming in glory with the clouds. According to Cahn, the apparent mystery is resolved through one Messiah and two comings: Christ first coming to suffer and die, and ultimately returning to reign.
But for Cahn, understanding prophecy means little if it does not transform how Christians live.
Addressing disagreements over whether the rapture occurs before, during or after the tribulation, Cahn shifted the emphasis away from the debate and toward readiness.
“As far as readiness, we need to be as pre-trib. Be ready to meet the Lord at any second,” Cahn said. “As far as endurance and perseverance and standing no matter what, we got to be post-trib, ready to stand no matter what we go through.”

That urgency becomes especially significant when considering the culture’s spiritual condition.
Cahn warned that the “master’s house” illustrates what can happen when people begin living as though the Master will never return. He pointed to growing carnality, compromise and apostasy, arguing that both Western culture and portions of the church have increasingly abandoned biblical standards.
He compared today’s spiritual condition to Israel at Mount Sinai. When Moses’ return from the mountain appeared delayed, the Israelites turned toward the golden calf. Cahn sees a similar pattern unfolding today as society rejects God’s commandments and increasingly embraces idolatry, sensuality and its own definitions of morality.
Yet the biblical promise remains: The Master is coming back.
That reality should produce expectation, not fear. Christ’s return represents rescue, redemption and the ultimate end of evil, death and sorrow.
The question, then, is not whether Christians have perfectly decoded the prophetic timeline.
The question is whether they are living as if Jesus could return at any moment.
“We do have to be a people of prophecy,” Cahn said. “You do have to be aware of the times that you’re in. Watching, knowing the signs, not getting caught up in everything else, knowing and eager for the day that He comes.”
The Master may appear when the world least expects Him. For the church, Cahn’s message is simple: Keep your lamp burning, remain faithful and be ready.
