NFL Quarterback Baker Mayfield Says Rock Bottom Led Him to Christ: ‘It’s Not About the Stats’

For Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield, faith wasn’t always part of the playbook.

In a candid conversation on The Sports Spectrum Podcast, the former No. 1 NFL Draft pick opened up about how hitting “rock bottom” — both on and off the field — became the catalyst for a deeper walk with Jesus Christ.

“I was trying to make things happen on my own,” Mayfield said. Raised with minimal church attendance, he admitted his early understanding of Christianity was simply that “you do good deeds” and “you’re a good person.”

But things began to shift during college at Oklahoma, where he met Pastor Adam Starling. “I didn’t have to be perfect; I didn’t have to have it all figured out,” Mayfield recalled learning. The message that “we’re all born sinners” and “we’ve been saved” stayed with him, though it would take a few more years before it truly changed him.

It wasn’t until he joined the NFL — and joined Professional Athletes Outreach with his wife Emily in 2020 — that Mayfield said things finally started to click. “There was a lot of emptiness that I had… I thought I could fulfill it in other ways and did not.”

Then came the hard part: his career spiraled. After being cut loose by the Browns and floating as a backup, Mayfield said, “God taught me a lesson. He had to take my career down to the studs and make me realize that I’m more than a football player.”

It wasn’t just football. Mayfield said his marriage was struggling too — especially as he and Emily faced difficulties trying to have children. “We weren’t doing well at all,” he shared.

To rebuild, he had to return to the foundation. “For me to climb back up, I had to dive into the word and accept the grace,” he said. “That was something that was really, really hard for me.”

Since then, things have changed. Mayfield found new life — and a new team — in Tampa. “God’s timing is perfect,” he said. “It’s been such a special ride to let God take us through that.”

Now, he says it’s about more than football. “It’s not about the stats or anything on the field,” Mayfield said. “It’s about how I carry myself, how I inspire others and try to bring people together.”

Mayfield wants to share those lessons with younger athletes, emphasizing that Jesus is “the only thing that made me feel whole.”

He also gave credit to his wife’s growing faith, saying, “God had her back the whole time, kept her strong through a lot of trials and tribulations. I’ve seen her faith grow… I’ve fallen more in love with her.”

For Mayfield, the comeback story isn’t about football glory — it’s about finding purpose beyond the game.

“It has to be part of the daily routine,” he said. “And you have to make your priorities align with that.”

‘Close the Doors!’: Pastor’s Shocking Fundraising Tactic Caught on Camera

When it comes to church conferences and offerings, there’s always a fine line between boldness and backlash.

Gospel legend and pastor Marvin Sapp found himself walking that tightrope after a video went viral showing him telling ushers to “close them doors” during a fundraising moment at a recent Christian conference.

Sapp didn’t mince words in the clip: “I said close the doors. Ushers close the doors, close the doors. Close the doors. We all going to leave together. Y’all ain’t going no place but to the restaurant.”

Breaking NewsSpirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

That moment, caught on camera, raised eyebrows and lit up social media with critics accusing him of manipulation. But Sapp pushed back strongly against the claims, defending his actions as biblical and necessary—as reported by The Christian Post.

“Some have taken issue with a particular moment when I instructed the ushers, rather firmly, to close the doors during the offering,” Sapp wrote in a Facebook post. “To those unfamiliar with the church context or who may not regularly attend worship gatherings, this has been misinterpreted as holding people hostage, as well as offensive. That was never my intent.”

/**/

His goal? To raise $40,000 for the conference’s budget by asking 1,000 people in the room and 1,000 watching online to donate $20 each. Ministers onstage were expected to give $100, because as Sapp said, it “costs to be up here.”

He further explained, “The truth is, when finances are being received in any worship gathering, it is one of the most vulnerable and exposed times for both the finance and security teams. Movement during this sacred exchange can be distracting and, at times, even risky. My directive was not about control it was about creating a safe, focused, and reverent environment for those choosing to give, and for those handling the resources.”

Sapp cited 1 Chronicles 29 to justify his method, referencing how King David called the people to give openly and generously toward the building of the temple. “Specific amounts were recorded not because God needed their money, but because the people needed to show their commitment to the vision and because stewardship demands accountability,” he wrote.

Still, there’s a real risk when leaders blur the line between encouragement and coercion—especially in a worship setting.

While Scripture encourages generosity, closing doors and singling out giving amounts can come off as pressuring rather than inspiring. Church leaders should tread carefully, especially in an age where actions are instantly scrutinized online. Boldness in leadership is one thing, but spiritual authority must never become a tool for control.

Todd Mullins: 3 Secrets to Stepping Into God’s Supernatural Power

Are you faithfully walking in God’s supernatural power?

In an impactful message, Pastor Todd Mullins of Christ Fellowship Church delivered a powerful call for believers to prioritize God in every area of their lives. With conviction and sincerity, Mullins challenged his congregation to give their best to what matters most.

“It’s important for you to be able to discern what’s important,” Mullins declares. Warning of the subtle danger of distraction, he added, “Distraction means your life is losing traction.” He urged believers to be mindful of where they invest their time, energy and focus.

Mullins outlined three practical areas where believers must put God first: their day, their week and their finances. He encouraged starting each day with intentional time in God’s presence. “We call it the first 15—five minutes in the Word, five minutes in worship, and five minutes in prayer,” he explained. Though it may seem small, Mullins assured, “Consistency over time beats intensity every time.”

He also underscored the significance of corporate worship, reminding the congregation of the sacredness of gathering on Sundays. “Sunday is the start of the week,” he emphasizes. “There’s something that happens here when two or more of us gather in the name of Jesus that just doesn’t happen anywhere else. It’s ordained and holy.”

When addressing finances, Mullins didn’t shy away from the discomfort the topic often brings. “You talk about money—oh!” he says with a smile. Yet he stressed the importance of financial stewardship as an act of trust. “God knows things that you and I don’t know. He knows things about the economy that you don’t know,” he states. “When we live a God-first life, we’re saying, ‘God, we’re going to trust You.’”

Above all, Mullins wants Christians to know that starting with small habits of change will eventually turn around their entire lives for the glory of God. “Small moments create momentum,” Mullins says.

As Todd Mullins passionately shared, the simple yet profound prayer to “make room” is an invitation for God to move in powerful and unexpected ways. When we surrender our plans, clear out distractions and trust Him fully, we create space for His presence, His power and His miracles.

May we all embrace this prayer and watch as God fills every empty place in our hearts with His divine abundance.

Blood Moon Is Over—Now Brace for the Supernova Explosion!

We just had the blood moon come and go. Now, could we be in for a supernova explosion?

This year, the “Blaze Star,” is expected to explode, with the greatest predictions occurring either in the month of March, or on Nov. 10. But what exactly is this “Blaze Star?”

Breaking News. Spirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

As The Network Journal noted, the star system, whose scientific name is T Coronae Borealis, has exploded every 79 years. The system contains both a white dwarf and a red giant. This incredible system completes the same process over and over again: “exploding after completing 128 orbits around its binary companion.”

/**/

While the most likely date this month for the explosion was Mar. 27, it is reported that Nov. 10 of this year and June 25, 2026, could very well be the days that this explosion takes place.

What’s most intriguing about this, is how the supernova explosions lines up with the blood moons taking place this year. From the Purim Blood Moon to the coming Rosh Hashanah one, is it possible that this celestial event will also take place during a biblically significant time frame?

Throughout Scripture, celestial events are often seen as signs pointing to divine messages or shifts in God’s timeline. Joel 2:30-31 declares, “I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth… The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.”

Moreover, this cosmic spectacle could be a reminder of God’s sovereignty over the heavens and the earth. Psalm 19:1 proclaims, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”

Whether or not this celestial event fulfills a specific prophecy, it undeniably draws our attention upward—reminding us to keep our eyes fixed on the One who holds the stars in His hand.

‘Passion of the Christ 2’ Begins Filming This Summer: Here’s What We Know

More than two decades after the release of The Passion of the Christ, Mel Gibson is finally moving forward with the long-awaited sequel, and it’s sounding even more intense than fans imagined.

Titled ‘The Resurrection of the Christ,’ the film is set to begin filming in August 2025 at Rome’s legendary Cinecittà Studios. “The Resurrection” will also shoot in several ancient southern Italian towns, including Matera, which was also featured in the original film.

Jim Caviezel is expected to reprise his role as Jesus, with Maia Morgenstern returning as Mary and Francesco De Vito as Peter, based on listings from IMDb.

While many details have been kept under wraps over the years, Gibson recently opened up about the ambitious nature of the story. Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience, he called the film “an acid trip,” saying, “I’ve never read anything like it.”

Co-written with Braveheart screenwriter Randall Wallace and Gibson’s brother, Donal Gibson, the sequel explores far more than just the Resurrection.

/**/

The storyline will cover “the fall of the angels to the death of the last apostle,” according to Gibson, who emphasized the supernatural scope of the film. “You need to go to hell. You need to go to Sheol,” he said, referring to the realm of the dead

In a 2022 interview, Gibson shared even more on the unique structure of the film: “It’s not a linear narrative,” he explained. “You have to juxtapose the central event that I’m trying to tell with everything else around it in the future, in the past and in other realms, and that’s kind of getting a little sci-fi out there.”

Despite its bold premise, production is now firmly set for summer 2025, with Cinecittà’s massive new Studio 22 serving as the main production hub.

After the original Passion of the Christ shocked Hollywood by grossing over $612 million worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing independent film of all time, expectations for the sequel are sky-high, and based on what Gibson’s saying, it could be one of the boldest biblical films ever made.

Massive Pyramid Shafts Could Be Tied to End-Times Prophecy

Have scientists just stumbled upon a gateway to the underworld beneath the sands of Egypt?

That’s the buzz surrounding a recent discovery by a team of researchers from Italy and the United Kingdom. Using high-frequency electromagnetic waves, similar to ground-penetrating radar, the team claims to have uncovered what they call an “entire hidden world” beneath the Pyramid of Khafre at Giza. Their findings suggest the presence of massive spiral shafts and chamber-like structures that descend over 4,000 feet into the earth—deeper than anything previously known at the site.

If confirmed, this discovery could rewrite ancient history. And according to some, it might even tie directly to biblical prophecy.

While mainstream archaeologists are quick to dismiss the data as flawed or inconclusive, the researchers behind the project remain confident, stating their findings have an 85 to 90% confidence level. Yet, instead of open investigation, the reaction from the archaeological community has largely been resistance.

Breaking NewsSpirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

That resistance hasn’t stopped others from speaking out—especially those who have been warning for decades that sites like Giza may hold far more than relics of ancient civilizations. L.A. Marzulli, an expert on the Nephilim and pre-flood world history, weighed in on the news.

“We believe that what we’re looking at is pre-flood and it’s fallen angel technology, Nephilim architecture. That’s what it is,” Marzulli says.

And he didn’t stop there.

/**/

“I’ve never believed for a second… you know Zahi Hawass with all due respect, and he goes off, you know, ‘The Egyptians were great builders’ and all this other nonsense. And it’s just like, excuse me—they did not build the Great Pyramid.”

Marzulli went on to highlight a little-known fact about the Great Pyramid’s structure. “The pyramid is not a four-sided pyramid. It’s an eight-sided pyramid,” he says. “Each side, instead of being straight across, is slightly convex. But you don’t see that unless you’re in the air… They didn’t even know that until someone flew over with an airplane and went, ‘Wait a minute, this thing’s got eight sides.’”

It’s these kinds of architectural anomalies, coupled with the sheer size and engineering precision of the pyramids, that fuel speculation about their true origins and purpose.

Could these mysterious underground shafts be what Revelation 9 describes as the “bottomless pit”? The biblical passage reads: “Then the fifth angel sounded: And I saw a star fallen from heaven to the earth. To him was given the key to the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace,” (Rev. 9:1-2).

In the English Standard Version, it even reads: “He opened the shaft of the bottomless pit.” A shaft. A deep, spiraling tunnel. A chamber hidden far below the surface.

Coincidence?

Order James Lasher’s Newest Book, The Revelation of Jesus on !

We’re not saying the bottomless pit has been found—but we are saying this demands serious investigation. Why resist further excavation if there’s nothing to hide?

Others have floated alternative theories. Some believe the pyramids were ancient power plants. Temperatures at those depths can reach over 100 degrees Celsius, enough to generate superheated steam.

Others, like engineer Christopher Dunn and inventor Nikola Tesla, believed the pyramids harnessed natural energy or resonant vibrations. Still, some even suggest they were ancient weapons of mass destruction, wielding a now-lost science.

But one thing is becoming increasingly clear: The pyramids are not just tombs.

Proverbs 25:2 says, “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.” Daniel 12:4 speaks of a time at the end when “knowledge shall increase.” That time may be now.

As we continue to uncover things long hidden beneath our feet, believers must stay alert, grounded in Scripture and filled with discernment.

Jesus warned in Matthew 16:3, “You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.”

Let’s not be blind to the signs.

He Heard God’s Voice—What Followed Left Doctors Speechless

Christopher Gunderson spent the first 16 years of his life unable to eat and in desperate need of medical intervention for survival.

But Gunderson, born with chronic pseudo-obstruction syndrome, an ailment in which the gastrointestinal tracts can’t appropriately absorb food, experienced a miracle that changed everything.

“I was born … basically, where my stomach was completely paralyzed,” he told CBN News. “They call it complete gastroparesis, and it wouldn’t pump anything from my stomach to my small intestine.”

This meant Gunderson, whose story is briefly told in CBN’s new documentary “Investigating the Supernatural: Miracles,” would vomit whenever he ate, making nourishment near-impossible.

“It took my parents and the doctors several studies and diagnostic tests to figure out that that was truly the case that I had complete gastroparesis,” he said.

Doctors were forced to insert two tubes into his body. One, which went into his stomach, decompressed everything he swallowed to try and help process it through.

Breaking NewsSpirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

Another tube, connected to Gunderson’s small intestine, allowed him to get nutrition from formula — something he relied on for nutrients throughout the first 16 years of his life. As he got older and more active, the situation became tougher to navigate.

“I would have bile actually back up into my stomach and cause severe heartburn on a daily basis,” Gunderson said. “I’d have to constantly drain that out throughout the night and throughout the day.”

Eventually, doctors came to fear what might happen due to the lack of nourishment and complications.

“My parents were told multiple times that the doctors didn’t know how long I was going to live for,” Gunderson said, noting he went septic in the past and had infections. “They never exposed that to me, which I’m grateful for.”

Gunderson was raised in a Christian household but was skeptical that miracles are still unfolding. Despite that belief, he and his family found themselves at a 2011 event featuring Bruce Van Natta, a ministry leader whose own miracle healing story of being crushed by a truck and surviving has led to speeches, addresses, and books.

“My mom was hearing his testimony, and during the whole time that Bruce was talking my mom was hearing God tell her to go talk to him,” Gunderson said. “He was saying a lot of familiar medical terminology that most people wouldn’t really know because of what Bruce had gone through and what I’ve gone through.”

His mom ended up approaching Van Natta. While Gunderson wasn’t there at the time, she asked Van Natta if he would pray for her son. Van Natta agreed and told the mother to bring her son the next day to hear him speak — so they did.

Little did the family know, but something big was on the horizon.

“When we were there at that church the next day I had this pulsating sensation in my abdomen that I hadn’t had before,” Gunderson said. “And I was like, ‘What’s going on?’ And God said, He’s preparing me. And I haven’t really ever heard from God too much before in my spirit. I didn’t know how to … listen to his voice, listen to the Holy Spirit’s voice.”

In those moments of dialogue with God, Gunderson said he made a promise.

“During that time that I was having that pulsating sensation … I said, ‘If you heal me, I will not be quiet about it. I’ll tell anyone and everyone about this testimony, about this miracle that you did for me,’” he recalled.

After Van Natta spoke, Gunderson and his family went up to him and Van Natta put his hand on his shoulders and started to pray — and that’s when Gunderson believes a real-life miracle unfolded.

“He started to pray for me, and I started to feel that pulsating sensation that I was talking about before, but to like the 10th degree,” Gunderson said. “It feels like when you flex your abdomen, which is like over, and over, and over again.”

He continued, “And, then, about halfway through the prayer, I actually felt this lightning bolt electric shock go from my right shoulder, down through my chest, and down through my abdomen, and I felt like God jumpstarted my stomach back up with a shock.”

Gunderson described the experience as “pretty painful,” with Van Natta noting that they needed to continue praying. Once those prayers were over, Gunderson wasn’t sure what to think. “I actually had a basketball game that night,” he said. “And, then, after the basketball game, we went out for dinner.”

But something was quite different about this dinner. Gunderson swallowed the entire meal without any abdominal pain — the first full meal he had ever eaten.

“My small intestine had never had to take anything on aside from just formula,” he said. “I wasn’t scared. I was more filled with excitement and joy, and it felt like it was very surreal.”

Over the next few weeks, Gunderson was cautious but soon came to believe that God had healed him. Soon, he weaned off of his tubes and eventually had them removed.

Doctors were shocked — and even skeptical — to hear Gunderson was off his feeding tubes and eating. Over time, though, it became apparent something had changed and doctors were elated, despite being unable to explain what unfolded.

Gunderson, though, knows a miracle took place. The experience totally changed his heart and mind.

“Before my tubes, I saw God as this higher being that’s just kind of up there and not really having a deep, meaningful relationship with us,” he said. “And, now, I actually have this inner dialect with Him.”

Watch him tell the full story. For more journeys like this, stream “Investigating the Supernatural: Miracles.” We’ll leave you with the trailer:

You’re Praying Incorrectly—Rabbi Schneider Explains the One Thing You’re Missing

In Mark 11:24, Jesus makes a bold and powerful statement: “Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted to you.”

This clearly shows that God wants us to ask for things that line up with His will, plans and purposes for our lives. And it contains something incredibly important within it: the power of faith.

In a new message, Rabbi Kirt Schneider emphasizes the significance of this verse, urging believers to embrace the reality that God’s answers are already given in the spiritual realm. Too often, we struggle with doubt and uncertainty, wondering if God is truly hearing us. Yet, as Rabbi Schneider explains, Jesus instructs us to approach prayer differently: believe that you have already received what you ask for. This is not wishful thinking—it is supernatural confidence, anchored in God’s faithfulness.

Breaking News. Spirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

Praying in Alignment With God’s Will

To fully interpret this verse, Rabbi Schneider highlights the importance of viewing it through the whole counsel of Scripture. Jesus’ promise is not a license to demand anything we want.

“We can’t be praying for ungodly things and believe that Jesus is going to grant those things. But there are certain things that are God’s will for us to have,” Schneider says. “Some of them are clearly spelled out in His Word. For example, Scripture tells us to pray for a spirit of wisdom and revelation, for power, for love, for all these things.”

God also has a heart for our personal desires as well. While they may not be specifically mentioned in Scripture, He often grants them when they align with His purposes. As Schneider points out, the key is to pray with faith, believing that God has already answered, even before we see the outcome.

Experiencing God’s Nearness

Rabbi Schneider also reminds people that many of us pray as though God is far away, pleading for Him to draw near. Yet the truth is, God already is closer than our own heartbeat. When we pray, we are not summoning Him from a distance—we are simply aligning our hearts with the presence of the One who is already with us.

To fully experience the blessings purchased through Jesus’ blood—healing, peace, provision and freedom—we must believe that they are already ours. By walking in this assurance, we activate the reality of God’s promises in our lives.

Jesus’ finished work on the cross was for our salvation and freedom in every facet of life. Now is the moment to fully and accept and believe that as children of God, He has every good and perfect gift from above already lined up for our lives.
