Snake Cut in Half? Kathryn Krick Shares Miraculous Moment That Left Her in Awe

God truly has given us the authority to trample snakes and scorpions, both in the spiritual and natural realm.

What began for Apostle Kathryn Krick as a normal jog on a nature trail turned into a powerful prophetic moment after an unexpected up-close-and-personal encounter with a snake.

“I’m literally running down the trail and I trample on a snake,” Krick said. “Oh my gosh, I literally was running and I literally trampled on a scorpion. Are You kidding me, Jesus? Whoa!

“This is half of a snake. This is literally half of a snake. It’s literally cut in half. This is insane. I am in awe,” Krick said. And in a miraculous way, it provided the confirmation about what the Bible says in regards to our authority over these beasts.

Krick described how the moment unfolded in real time: “I was running and I trampled on a snake, like it was slithering across, before I had time to slow down and I trampled on it. Half of it slithered off somewhere somehow. Oh my Jesus.”

In the middle of this encounter, she had been worshiping. “I was singing this song out loud so loudly… ‘Oh my goodness, you’re a good, good God.’ I’m literally like singing my lungs out, jogging and I trample on a scorpion. This is insane. Never in my life did I think this would happen.”

What seemed like a shocking coincidence quickly became spiritual revelation. “Day number two in a row that God has completely shocked me. God, You are amazing.”

Krick pointed to the authority Jesus gives believers: “I have given you all authority over every demonic power. You shall trample over snakes and scorpions and no power of the enemy shall overcome you.”

Krick continued, “No power, no evil scheme of the devil, no evil strategy of the devil to try to stop you, to try to stop the work of God, to try to stop the casting out of demons and God’s people to be free—nothing can stop you.”she declared.”

Her message? We have been given all power and dominion over the enemy at all times.

“Those snakes will come by you and try to bite you as you’re running and you will trample on them. Jesus, Jesus, the devil’s defeated. The devil’s under our feet.”

Krick closed with a bold declaration: “I declare that every scheme against the work of God, against God’s people being free, against this book ‘Unlock Your Deliverance’ from reaching all the people who need it—I declare that these schemes must be destroyed like this snake was in Jesus’ name.

“I trample on them in the spiritual realm and I declare that they are under my feet. They’re under our feet. And Jesus has the victory in Jesus’ name.”

Kathryn Krick’s unexpected encounter on the trail is a vivid reminder of the spiritual authority believers carry through Christ. What appeared to be a startling accident was, for her, a divine confirmation of victory over the enemy and a prophetic symbol of breakthrough. With bold faith and unwavering worship, she turned a moment of shock into a declaration of triumph, reinforcing the truth that no scheme of the enemy can stop the advancing work of God.

‘The King of Kings’ Outperforms Every Expectation—See What Happened!

Christian films and shows are here to make a massive impact.

With the success of both “The Chosen: Last Supper” and Amazon’s “House of David,” it appears that the faith-based entertainment industry is doing exceedingly well.

According to the Washington Examiner, “The King of Kings” brought in $19 million, breaking the record for the best opening weekend of a faith-based animated film of all time.

Previously, “The Prince of Egypt” held this title when it scored $14.5 million during its release in 1998.

In a press release from Angel Studios, it was shared that movie’s Rotten Tomato Popcorn Meter score was at 97, with an “A+” CinemaScore.

“The Angel Guild picks winners. Angel’s revolutionary idea is simple: know your audience – and listen to them,” Angel’s Global Head of Theatrical Distribution and Brand Development, Brandon Purdie said. “Families want quality films to see together in theaters. This weekend simply reflects what audiences are craving.”

It’s clear that the demand for films that celebrate biblical truths and values is not just growing—it’s breaking records. This milestone is not merely about box office numbers; it reflects a deeper hunger within audiences for films that resonate with their faith, uplift their spirits and offer families a way to connect through shared experiences.

As the faith-based entertainment industry continues to flourish, it’s evident that Christians are hungry for content that aligns with their values and speaks to their spiritual journeys. The future of Christian films looks brighter than ever, and the success of such productions serves as a powerful reminder: when we boldly stand by our faith and listen to the desires of our audience, God’s message will continue to reach the world in powerful and transformative ways. This is not just a victory for the industry but a victory for the kingdom, as these films carry the light of Christ to an ever-widening audience.

‘HE IS RISEN!’ Trump’s Easter Speech Goes Viral, Christians Are Praising This Moment!

President Trump’s holy week statement is taking the world by storm.

On Truth Social, the president released a statement Sunday night about the remembrance of the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ as we begin Holy Week.

This Holy Week, Christians around the World remember the Crucifixion of God’s Only Begotten Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and, on Easter Sunday, we celebrate His Glorious Resurrection and proclaim, as Christians have done for nearly 2,000 years, “HE IS RISEN!”

Through the pain and sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross, we saw God’s boundless Love and Devotion to all Humanity and, in that moment of His Resurrection, History was forever changed with the Promise of Everlasting Life.

As we approach this Joyous Easter Sunday, I want to wish Christians everywhere a Happy and very Blessed Holiday. America is a Nation of Believers. We need God, we want God and, with His help, we will make our Nation Stronger, Safer, Greater, more Prosperous, and more United than ever before. Thank you, and HAPPY EASTER!

The White House also released an official statement that the president mentioned he and the First Lady are joining in prayer with Christians all over the world right now.

This Holy Week, Melania and I join in prayer with Christians celebrating the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ—the living Son of God who conquered death, freed us from sin, and unlocked the gates of Heaven for all of humanity.

Beginning with Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and culminating in the Paschal Triduum, which begins on Holy Thursday with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper, followed by Good Friday, and reaching its pinnacle in the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday night. This week is a time of reflection for Christians to memorialize Jesus’ crucifixion—and to prepare their hearts, minds, and souls for His miraculous Resurrection from the dead.

The White House officially said that it is imperative we remember the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross in order to fully celebrate His Resurrection.

/**/

During this sacred week, we acknowledge that the glory of Easter Sunday cannot come without the sacrifice Jesus Christ made on the cross.  In His final hours on Earth, Christ willingly endured excruciating pain, torture and execution on the cross out of a deep and abiding love for all His creation.  Through His suffering, we have redemption.  Through His death, we are forgiven of our sins.  Through His Resurrection, we have hope of eternal life.  On Easter morning, the stone is rolled away, the tomb is empty, and light prevails over darkness—signaling that death does not have the final word.

This Holy Week, my Administration renews its promise to defend the Christian faith in our schools, military, workplaces, hospitals, and halls of government.  We will never waver in safeguarding the right to religious liberty, upholding the dignity of life, and protecting God in our public square.

As we focus on Christ’s redeeming sacrifice, we look to His love, humility, and obedience—even in life’s most difficult and uncertain moments.  This week, we pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon our beloved Nation.  We pray that America will remain a beacon of faith, hope, and freedom for the entire world, and we pray to achieve a future that reflects the truth, beauty, and goodness of Christ’s eternal kingdom in Heaven.

May God bless you and your family during this special time of year and may He continue to bless the United States of America.

This statement is in stark contrast to the Biden administration, that chose Easter last year to celebrate the transgender community. Let us thank the Lord that Christianity continues to be restored under this new presidential administration.

Now Exposed: Satanic Symbols in Ads, Fashion and Kids’ TV

For years, Christians who warned about hidden messages in media were mocked as conspiracy theorists. But today, it’s not hidden anymore. The darkness is right in front of our eyes—in commercials, music videos, fashion ads and even children’s programming.

In a recent video, Taylor Alesia uncovered some of the wicked, scariest ads that have been blatantly attacking Christianity for years.

Breaking NewsSpirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

From Bizarre to Blasphemous: The Rise of Demonic Imagery

One of the most disturbing examples comes from an Adult Swim commercial by filmmaker Mike Diva. It features cloaked figures with triangle heads, demonic rituals and even a baby transforming into a literal demon. It’s been praised in the art world for its surrealism—but spiritually, it reeks of Antichrist symbolism.

/**/

Another shocking commercial came from Céline Dion’s children’s clothing line, which features genderless symbols, black magic dust and babies surrounded by demons. One baby even wears a onesie labeled “New Order”—a likely nod to the New World Order. These aren’t just fashion statements—they’re prophetic warning signs.

The Occult Agenda Behind Consumer Products

In 2023, Balenciaga faced massive backlash for a campaign featuring children holding bondage-themed teddy bears, along with hidden references to child abuse and Satanic imagery. This wasn’t an accident—it was intentional. Every element in these ads is meticulously placed.

Even toys like the Magic 8-Ball, marketed to children as harmless fun, have occult origins. Created by the son of a spiritist, the toy is modeled after a spirit-writing device designed to communicate with the dead. What the Bible calls abomination, our culture calls entertainment.

Witchcraft in Pop Culture—Marketed as Empowerment

Kris Jenner once marketed “Wicks of Wisdom” candles—ritual items infused with spells, crystals and affirmations designed to “unlock” success. Even Kim Kardashian joked about performing voodoo with Marilyn Monroe’s hair. This isn’t harmless celebrity quirk—it’s open alignment with witchcraft.

Media aimed at teens, such as the “Sabrina” franchise, subtly normalizes witchcraft by casting it as fun, quirky and empowering. But Leviticus 19:31 gives us a clear warning: “Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them.”

Mocking Christianity, One Commercial at a Time

Perhaps the most overt example came from a KFC commercial that mimicked a baptism. A boy is carried into water by a group in ritualistic clothing—and then he emerges as a chicken. What appears as satire is actually a spiritual mockery of baptism, designed to ridicule Christian symbolism.

We are in a time when the enemy is no longer hiding. Satan’s agenda is loud, proud and well-funded. But Jesus is raising up a remnant that refuses to be silent.

It’s time to expose the works of darkness and stand boldly for truth. Don’t be deceived. Don’t be silent. Sound the alarm.

Reaching the Non-Religious Americans

Researchers are finding that people may be becoming more receptive to Faith in God.

For starters, they have found that the long decline in religious faith has stopped, with the number of religious Americans hovering around 70%. Now, recent research by Ryan Burge and Troy Jones reveals that there is hope of reaching the other 30%.

It turns out that only 10% of the non-religious, about 3% of Americans, are openly hostile to religion. These people are militant atheist evangelists, trying to convert others. Even this group may be reachable with a message of love and peace, because they have higher anxiety and more mental health concerns. Let them see it in your life and they may want it for themselves.

Breaking NewsSpirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

Another group, about 7% of Americans, claim to be perfectly happy avoiding the spiritual side of life. Most don’t pray and don’t say they believe in an afterlife. Like some of us were, they will be perfectly happy continuing to be sinners until it does not work. It may take a life crisis to open their eyes, and if a Christian has invested in a relationship, they may then be open to the Gospel.

The remaining people claiming to be non-religious, about 20% of Americans, are leaning toward Spirituality, but have not found a home. Half of them pray daily, and a third of them attend church at least once a year.

Tellingly, two thirds of them want to be connected to God but are opposed to organized religion. To reach these people, Christians need to help overcome their fear of church through love, and be ready to give an answer for their faith with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15).

Burge and Jones suggest that revival can reach the non-religious if we know them better. We believe that the key to reaching the hard-core Atheists, the complacent Atheists, and the spiritually homeless is the friendship and love expressed by individual Christians. Be genuine and don’t overlook the power of your own testimony (Rev. 12:11).

As we approach Easter many of the unaffiliated non-religious may be making their annual, perhaps obligatory, visit to church. Take one to lunch and befriend them. You will be glad you did.

The Passover and The Nativity

As we look forward to the Jewish Passover celebration on Apr. 13 next week, many Christians also celebrate Passover as a prophetic picture of the sacrifice of Jesus, the Lamb of God, for our sins.

Many of the ancient church fathers found an additional reason to celebrate Passover. They believed that Jesus was born on Passover. Our research into scripture, history, and astronomy shows that they were right.

The Bible does not tell us when Jesus was born. However, the search for His birth date can begin with strong scriptural evidence about the year of His birth.

Breaking NewsSpirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

We know from Luke 3:23 that Jesus was about 30 when He began His ministry. The prophet Daniel tells us the year of Christ’s anointing would come 69 7’s, or 483 years, after the decree which sent Ezra to Jerusalem in 458 B.C. (Daniel 9:25) Doing the math, and remembering that there is no year “O”, Daniel’s prophecy says Jesus would begin His ministry in A.D. 26. This year is backed up by two dates from Scripture. John the Baptist began his ministry in the 15th year of Tiberius, A.D. 25, (Luke 3:1) and Jesus cleared the Temple the first time 46 years after Herod began renovating it (John 2:20) in 20 B.C. (According to Josephus), or A.D. 27. Thus, many Bible scholars believe that A.D. 26 is the year Jesus began his ministry. If He was 30 years old, remembering again that there is no year “O,” He would have been born in 5 B.C.

Jesus would have been born either in the Spring or Fall of the year according to the Scripture surrounding the birth of John the Baptist. John’s father, Zechariah, was a member of the priestly order of Abijah (Luke 1:5) which, according to Rabbinical sources, ministered at the Temple in May and November. The angel Gabriel appeared to Zechariah in the Temple, and Zechariah would have gone home and probably conceived John the Baptist in June or December, who would have been born nine months later in March or September. We know from Scripture that John the Baptist was six months older than Jesus (Luke 1:26) so Jesus would have been born in September or March of 5 B.C.

To find the exact time of year we look to Astronomy and history. We know that there was a star which appeared when Jesus was born and that Magi from the East, possibly following the prophetic teachings of Daniel the Magi (Daniel 2:48), came looking for Him (Mathew 2:1,2). The Chinese also saw the Star, identifying it as a Nova which appeared in the Spring of 5 B.C. and burned for 70 days. Based on the 5 B.C. springtime appearance of the Star of Bethlehem, John the Baptist was conceived in December of 7 B.C., Jesus was conceived in June of 6 B.C., John the Baptist was born in September of 6 B.C., and Jesus was born in March of 5 B.C.

King Herod, the tyrannical ruler of Judea, had interviewed the Magi when they arrived in Jerusalem. According to our research, described in our book The Stars of His Coming, there were signs in the sun, moon and stars surrounding the birth of Jesus beginning with Zechariah in 7 B.C. The Magi would have testified to the same date, and for that reason Herod ordered all of the Children under two years old in Bethlehem to be killed. Josephus tells us that there was a Lunar Eclipse on Passover and that Herold died later that year. This lunar eclipse, or blood moon, occurred on Mar. 23, 5 B.C., concurrent with the star of Bethlehem.

Scholars have shown that the Passover and the Solstices and Equinoxes were associated with Christ’s birth by early church fathers, including Clement of Alexandria, Julius Africans, Hippolytus of Rome and the author of De Pascha. Some believed that Christ was born on the Passover, while others believed He was conceived on the Passover and born nine months later on the Winter Solstice. The old Roman Solstice date, Dec. 25, ultimately was selected by the church to replace a pagan holiday celebrated on that day, but strong support for the birth of Jesus on Passover remains. Hippolytus stated that the “Genesis.” which has been translated as either “Birth” or “conception” of Christ occurred during a Passover Lunar Eclipse on Apr. 2, 2 B.C. This was a dating error, and the only Passover Lunar Eclipse occurred on Mar. 23, 5 B.C. Jesus must have been born on Passover of 5 B.C. because had He been conceived in March Herod would have died prior to his birth.

Get your FREE CHARISMA NEWSLETTERS today! Stay up-to-date with current issues, Holy Spirit news, Christian teachings, Charisma videos & more!

There is also one more piece of evidence to suggest that Christ was born on Passover, Mar. 23 5 B.C. We find it in Revelation 12:1-2, which describes a sign in the heavens, a woman clothed in the sun with the moon at her feet, at the moment of Christ’s birth. The woman clothed in the sun is the Zodiacal constellation Virgo (The Virgin), which promises that God will send a savior through Virgin birth. Astronomical research shows that the blood moon of Mar. 23, 5 B.C. occurred while the moon was in the feet of Virgo. Thus, Revelation 12:1-2 presents us with a picture of the night sky when Jesus was born, and that night was Mar. 23, 5 B.C.

Of course, we know that the whole world will continue to celebrate the birthday of Jesus on Dec. 25. In its way, it is fitting to celebrate the Advent on the old Roman Winter Solstice, when it all began with the conception of John the Baptist around the Winter Solstice of 7 B.C. and signs in the sun, moon and stars began to appear. For more information view our YouTube presentation “The Story of the Star of Bethlehem” at International Star Bible Society.

So, on the Ancient Roman Winter Solstice date of Dec. 25, you’re really celebrating the beginning of the “Signs in the Sun, Moon and Stars” in 7 B.C. which led to Christ’s birth on Passover, Mar. 23, 5 B.C.

And don’t fret that you may be late wishing Jesus a happy birthday this Mar. 23. He uses the Jewish Lunar Calendar so He will celebrate His birthday on Passover Apr. 13, this year.

10 Character Traits of Those Who Make God Their Dwelling Place (Part 2)

The first part of this article explored 10 traits that characterize those who make God their dwelling place, emphasizing gratitude, worship, submission to Christ, and stewardship of creation. This way of living continues to shape how believers engage with God, others, and the world.

In this second part, we’ll explore 10 additional traits that further illustrate what it means to live in the sacred reality of God’s presence.

  1. A Deep Awareness of God’s Sovereignty

Those who dwell in God live with the unshakable knowledge that He is sovereign over all creation. Psalm 46:10 declares, “Be still, and know that I am God.” This awareness brings a profound sense of peace and trust, even in uncertain times.

Believers rooted in God’s sovereignty understand that nothing happens outside His control. They rest in the assurance that every event, whether joyful or challenging, is woven into His divine plan. This trust allows them to live without fear, knowing their lives are secure in His hands.

  1. A Life of Intercession

Dwelling in God’s presence inspires a heart for prayer, not just for personal needs but for others. Those who make God their refuge take on the role of intercessors, standing in the gap for their families, communities, and the world.

Breaking NewsSpirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

Their prayer life reflects God’s heart for restoration and healing. They echo the words of Ezekiel 22:30: “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land.” Their intercession can bring spiritual renewal and divine intervention in the lives of others.

  1. A Heart for the Lost

Making God your dwelling place means embracing His mission to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10). Those who live in God’s presence are burdened by the spiritual condition of others and are motivated to share the gospel.

This trait is rooted in love, not obligation. Their outreach is marked by compassion and understanding that they were once lost but have been found. Their lives serve as living testimonies, pointing others to the transformative power of Christ.

  1. The Pursuit of Holiness

God calls His people to be holy, as He is holy (1 Peter 1:16). Those who dwell in God strive to reflect His character in their lives. This pursuit of holiness is not about legalism but about becoming more like Christ.

They are intentional in avoiding sin and cultivating virtues such as humility, patience, and love. Their desire to honor God shapes their actions, words, and thoughts, making holiness a defining mark of their lives.

  1. An Eternal Perspective

Living in God’s presence shifts a person’s focus from temporary, earthly concerns to eternal realities. Colossians 3:2 instructs, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

Those who dwell in God are not consumed by materialism or worldly ambition. Instead, they prioritize what will last forever: their relationship with God, their impact on others, and their eternal inheritance in Christ. This eternal perspective brings clarity, purpose, and freedom from the distractions of life.

  1. A Spirit of Generosity

Recognizing that all they have comes from God, those who make Him their dwelling place live with open hands. They embody the spirit of 2 Corinthians 9:7: “God loves a cheerful giver.”

Their generosity goes beyond financial giving; it includes time, talents, and resources. They find joy in meeting the needs of others and investing in God’s kingdom. Their lives demonstrate true wealth is found in serving others and honoring God.

  1. Unwavering Integrity

Dwelling in God’s presence fosters a commitment to truth and righteousness. Those who live in Him strive to maintain integrity in all aspects of life, whether in relationships, business dealings, or private moments.

Proverbs 8:7-8 says, “for my mouth will utter truth;wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All the words of my mouth are righteous;there is nothing twisted or crooked in them.”

Psalm 15:1-2 asks, “Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent? Who may live on your holy mountain? The one whose walk is blameless, who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from their heart.”

Thus, their posture regarding integrity flows from their desire to please God above all else.

  1. Resilience in Suffering

Those who make God their dwelling place possess supernatural resilience in the face of suffering. They trust in God’s promises, knowing He works all things together for their good (Romans 8:28).

Rather than medicating themselves with their drugs, entertainment, and pleasure when faced with trials, they see hardships as opportunities for spiritual growth and greater dependence on God. Their resilience is a powerful testimony to others, showing that God’s presence provides strength and comfort in even the darkest times (Psalm 46).

  1. A Commitment to Reconciliation

Living in God’s presence compels believers to pursue peace and reconciliation. They embody the call of Matthew 5:9: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”

Those who dwell in God work to mend broken relationships, promote unity, and bring healing where there is division. They reflect God’s reconciling nature, understanding that He has reconciled them to Himself through Christ.

  1. A Life Marked by Joy

Finally, those who make God their dwelling place radiate joy. This joy is not dependent on circumstances but rooted in their relationship with God. Psalm 16:11 declares, “In your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

Their joy is contagious, drawing others to the hope and peace they have found in Christ. It reflects their deep awareness of God’s love and confidence in His goodness.

Conclusion

These 10 additional traits further illustrate the transformative impact of making God your dwelling place. From a deep awareness of His sovereignty to a life marked by joy, those who live in His presence reflect His character in every aspect of their lives.

As believers embrace this calling, they experience God’s nearness and become vessels of His grace to the world around them. Together, the 20 traits from both parts of this article offer a comprehensive picture of what it means to dwell in God, showing that dwelling in the matrix of His person and presence is not merely a place to visit but a way of life.

God Can Turn Trials Into Blessings

Are you facing trials that make you question, why me, Lord? Those trials could be relationship difficulties, financial struggles and personal challenges. They can sometimes leave you questioning God’s plan for your life. No one chooses to go through trials, and have a “threshing-floor experience,” it comes upon you—as a surprise.

In Judges 6, Gideon is on a threshing floor, threshing wheat in a winepress to keep it from the Midianites. The Midianites had been cruel to the Israelites, they burned their harvest, assaulted their women and killed their people. Because of this, Gideon was hidden away, grinding out the grain. The angel of the Lord came to him saying, “Gideon, the Lord is with you, you mighty warrior.” Gideon responded, “But if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? . . . But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.”

Breaking NewsSpirit-Filled Stories. Subscribe to Charisma on YouTube now!

Gideon is saying, where is the Lord? Isn’t that exactly what we say when we’re going through difficulties? When you’re having a threshing-floor experience you may experience a feeling of abandonment and you may be in a season of questioning God.

In response, God said to Gideon, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” In effect, God was saying, am I not on the threshing floor with you?”

When you’re on the threshing floor, God is there with you. He doesn’t desert you.

Gideon continued his dialogue with God saying, “But how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.” In today’s language, Gideon was saying, don’t you know who I am? I can’t handle this. I’m not made to handle this, my emotions can’t handle it, my background didn’t prepare me. God, I can’t take this.

When you’re on the threshing floor, you may also say, why is this happening to me? Where is the Lord? He has abandoned me. I can’t take it.

The Lord answered Gideon, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.” Gideon responded, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, give me a sign that it is really you talking to me.” Isn’t that like something you’d say to God when going through a tough time? But God, in His mercy, will give you a sign because threshing floors are God’s opportunities with us.

Back to Gideon—he offered a sacrifice and the angel touched it and fire flared and consumed the meat and bread. Then God told Gideon to tear down the altar to Baal.

While on the threshing floor, you may have to pull down some of your own altars. Maybe it’s things you’ve said you’d never do, that you’ve been doing. There may be things you’ve said you’d never do that God wants you to do. There may be false altars in your life that God wants you to tear down. It may be false pride that God wants you to tear down. You may have a big idea, but trust that God has a bigger idea for you.

Gideon pulled down those altars to Baal, and then went through some time of questioning God. Eventually, God used Gideon to be a deliverer.

What was God doing with Gideon on the threshing floor? He was making Gideon a deliverer. And that’s what God will do with you on your threshing floor—make you a deliverer. The threshing floor is where your ministry is made because that’s where God changes you and gets rid of the chaff (false altars). It’s where He checks out your motive to make sure you’re really in it for the Lord. God wants to know if you’re willing to follow Him and do what He tells you to do—or are you trying to be the big name? The threshing floor is important for ministry, and all of us have a ministry.

Don’t despise threshing-floor experiences. Your struggles are not in vain, but are an essential process God uses to refine, strengthen and prepare you for His greater purpose and to step into the identity the He calls you into.

This is the third part of an article covering the nearly 50-year history of a ministry that impacted hundreds of thousands, but then sadly veered off the “straight and narrow.” If you missed Parts 1 & 2 it’s essential reading to familiarize yourself with how things got started and three lessons we learn before continuing the never before published story.

God’s Redemption

Celebrating God’s faithfulness in 49 years of marriage, we look back and honor Him being trustworthy in every season. Starting over was painful but He guided and provided. One example was when an apostolic leader from England sent $2,000 a month for a year stating, “This is what covenant is all about!”

God plunged us into the life-changing Brownsville Revival (five million came and hundreds of thousands were converted!) letting me teach 1,100 students (two of my children!) for five-years plus enabled me to write 10 books from my experiences in decades of ministry.

The adventure unfolded as God had me plant a church in the Atlanta area that my son leads today. He later gave me the assignment I fulfill today of a cultural commentator doing weekly videos and articles from a Biblically informed perspective on today’s “hot button” issues ().

I’ve been privileged to serve as a public policy advisor for Liberty Counsel and be on the board of Intercessors for America national prayer ministry (established by Derek Prince) for almost 50 years. Last year God brought 2 billion online viewings, 80 million engagements and 100 million emails to our site. People want to pray!

Hidden Hand of God

It’s been said, “The wheels of justice grind slowly, but surely.” I found this true after I’d departed and prayed during the decade for God’s intervention.

For over a decade I tried repeatedly to come together with my friend a second time after he’d abruptly ended an initial meeting in which I tried to “plead my case.” I played part of a legal tape-recording exposing what the leaders had done but he was not interested. Then one day I was stunned when he requested to meet! He immediately took three trips to humbly ask forgiveness of me, my wife and family! God’s dealings resulted in a redemptive and God-glorifying time of reconciliation. What prompted this event?

I became aware of “shakings” in the flagship church, including lawsuits, with attendance allegedly falling from 3,000 to 500 and pastoral staff from 20 to five. Additionally, infighting among the apostolic team basically caused its collapse (one former leader recently publicly confessed very serious sin). The church network saw 30 churches depart, including the largest ones and eventually even the flagship one. Revenue dropped 46% with ministry assets falling from $6.2 to $2.8 million.

Character issues were raised about my yokefellow friend so he resigned his positions in the church (2004), the network of churches (2013) and “Together for the Gospel” coalition (2014). Later one of the most influential leaders in the Southern Baptist denomination came out publicly saying he was severing personal ties with him and erred in supporting him as a local publication did a cover story on the tragic story of what happened.

Over the years, three of the leaders called me (one in tears) and asked forgiveness for their sins, especially abuse of spiritual authority.

It took 13 years. I was amazed as I saw the period of time between Joseph’s betrayal by his brothers and their reconciliation – exactly 13 years! “What they intended for evil, God intended for good” (Gen. 50:20).

Lesson #3: Persevere with your God-given vision but recalibrate along the way.

A spokesman for Gateway Church stated they’ve repented for what he called “The defining problem in the Church today – moving from God’s focus on relational” to numerical/financial (even doctrinal) emphasis in measuring the health of a church. “We drifted away, paid a price but are in reset to be family doing life together as God intends.”

Here’s the deal: Confessing our sins and calling out to God for His mercy can result in a comeback. If we can stand the pull, He can pull us through!“Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning” (Ps. 30:5).

From that initial group of friends who gathered 50+ years ago, here’s good news and “fruit that remains” that honors God and has the current leader filled with hope that they’ll not just “survive” (as he feared) but succeed as indicated by his recent report:

  • Churches & ministries now in 47 countries
  • 95 “Partner” churches in Africa, Latin America, Asia, Canada and the Caribbean
  • 40 churches in “adoption” process
  • Plans to plant 15 churches in coming years
  • Pastors College equipping leaders to serve gospel centered churches

Finally, I’m happy to share that my gifted yokefellow leads a vibrant church he planted with his family and long-time friends in Kentucky! I still enjoy his sermons and keep his original plaque here on my study wall.

“This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes!” (Ps. 118:23).

It’s been said: “Those who fail to learn the lessons of history are bound to repeat them” (George Santayana). May we all go forward humbly expressing gratitude to God for His ongoing guidance and mercy, enjoying His sovereign grace as a people of destiny proclaiming Jesus, the gospel and truth for God’s glory.

The Rise, Fall, Recovery of People of Destiny/Sovereign Grace Ministry, Part 2

This is the second part of an article covering the nearly 50-year history of a ministry that impacted hundreds of thousands, but then sadly veered off the “straight and narrow.” If you missed Part 1 it’s essential reading to familiarize yourself with how things got started and the three lessons we learn before continuing the never before published story.

Going Astray

On my study wall, there’s a plaque that reads: “I would not be the man I am without your care and example. Your Yokefellow…”

That was then but something started to surface – the toxic trap of a fleshly contest. Was it due to insecurity… pride… envy… jealousy … I really didn’t grasp what was simmering.

In returning, my partner preferred “Gone with the Wind” to “Welcome Back Kotter.” He relished his role as senior leader, challenging me: “C’mon, how about now just let your boy do it!”

The sin of satanically inspired competition simmered and spread subtly culminating in my brother eventually threatening to leave. We sought counsel from apostolic leaders in England who knew us well, with one causing near whiplash in my brother when he rebuked him: “You have an evil and unbelieving heart!” “When jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every evil thing” (James 3:16).

Satan stoked the fires and as a last resort we were counseled: “He’s saying he’ll leave if you don’t, so let him do the only thing he says he wants to do – be the senior pastor – so you focus on outward expansion of the ministry, returning home to share and enjoy relational support like Paul did!”

Nice on paper, not in reality. The day inevitably came when I posed the ultimate question, “Brother, I need to know not if you need me but do you want me here?”

His silence was deafening. Doris knew intuitively the reality of what was unfolding. “Larry, they want you gone.” Within a short time, with deep sadness we moved our family to a sister church where they said they wanted us. We left without any real explanation to the church (a year later they did gather a handful of leadership couples for a quiet “send off”).

Calvinism Controversy

So there’s no misunderstanding, I love and respect my brothers in Christ who embrace Calvinist/Reformed theology. Historically problems arise with Calvinist extremes and rigid application of this system. John Calvin was a controversial figure who was expelled from Geneva for the legalistic implementation of his doctrines.

My fellow leaders felt I didn’t “fit” so something needed to be done. My anointing centered on prayer, evangelism, faith, fulfilling one’s destiny and unity with the wider body of Christ. My involvement with Promise Keepers was viewed as being too “eclectic.” We needed to view things through the lens of 5-Point Calvinist/Reformed theology emphasizing God’s sovereign “election” of people with an emphasis on “indwelling sin.”

Calvinists highlight two foundations: God is Sovereign and God is good. We concur but celebrate a just and fair God who is love (not arbitrarily & capriciously predestining people for heaven or hell) who gives us freedom upon hearing the proclamation of the gospel to repent. “God does not want anyone to perish but that all come to repentance” (2 Pet. 3:9).

Leaders emphasizing Calvin’s (Reformed) doctrines of his five points () caused division. “Does God want everyone to be saved?” “Does God predestine people to hell?” Years later when the successor of my yokefellow left Christianity as a heretic many struggled legitimately: “Wasn’t he in the ‘elect’?”

My friend stressed, “Everything we do is shot through with sin!” and encouraged the reading of Puritan literature to grasp our “total depravity.” Our softball team’s leader suggested “Worms” as our team’s name so we could “share with inquirers on God’s wrath and salvation!”

I was given a teaching by theologian R.C. Sproul in which he said “Charles Finney was not a Christian if he didn’t accept certain Calvinist doctrines.” My father-in-law warned our now divided family, “This is heresy!”

I was marginalized in ministry and my book “Divine Appointments” was removed, labeled as “too man-centered” (also why our ministry name had been changed).

Many departed the ministry calling themselves “survivors” viewing Calvinism as a virus that infected the ministry. It was much deeper.

RC Sproul wrote on “The Death of Calvinism” in his Tabletalk magazine. “We are now so weak – only about 10% of Christendom embrace this system… to know how to regain the sway and influence we had it’s important to know how we lost it!”

Years later, under new leadership, changes were encouraged among the “family” of churches, softening the prominence of Calvinism to be more welcoming and less controversial as “gospel centered” churches.

Behind the Curtain

It didn’t happen overnight but there was a subtle slippage from “the simplicity of devotion to Christ” (2 Cor. 11:3). Legalism, man pleasing, conformity, fear of man, misuse of spiritual authority (domineering vs servant leadership) and sexual abuse scandals surfaced, eroding the fabric of the church.

When some issues arose during the turbulent teen years (in time all the “apostolic team” leaders faced parenting challenges), the leaders convened a private meeting, summoned me in (after five hours) and stated they’d “lost respect for me in leadership” so I should submit to their spiritual authority, “step down,” write an approved letter to be read to churches (affirming their care) then appear in public with my yokefellow who told me to nod approvingly as he “hit” key points.

They told me to “prove my humility” by submission (I tried for six months), being warned that if I refused it was “disloyalty and pride” and if I simply left the process that would prove it (yet that’s exactly what my yokefellow did years later, quickly relocating to another city). Finally, when my fellow leaders threatened me with a certain coercive pressure tactic, we confronted them. After 25 years invested in a ministry “the handwriting was on the wall” – it was time to go.

Lesson #2 Resist intimidation/manipulation and remain true to biblical convictions.
