Muslim Cleric Calls Mamdani, El-Sayed ‘Blessings’ of October 7

A cleric linked to the Muslim Brotherhood declared that the rise of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Michigan US Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed are “blessings” to come out of the October 7, 2023, attack.

“If not for the Al-Aqsa Flood, and if the Zionists were not put to shame, what is happening in Europe and America would not be happening,” secretary general of the Qatar-based International Union for Muslim Scholars Ali al-Qaradaghi said, going on to specifically list Mamdani and El-Sayed as “blessings of the Al-Aqsa Flood.”

The statement, reported by MEMRI, was made at an event in Turkey and aired on Palestine Today TV.

Jamie Metzl, who served on the National Security Council under President Bill Clinton and later worked as Deputy Staff Director of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee under then-Senator Joe Biden, made the stark observation during an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends.”

“The January 6 Republicans have lost their primaries and the October 7 Democrats, in many cases, are winning theirs,” Metzl said. “So, it’s, in my view, it’s very bad news.”

“Our country is the beneficiary of having a strong two-party system, and that means we need two patriotic parties, fighting to make America a better place for everybody,” Metzl explained. “And if the Democratic Party is veering to the far left with these unelectable DSA candidates, even if a majority of the small number of primary voters choose them, I think it’s going to be bad for the party and bad for the country.”

The contrast Metzl draws is striking. Republican voters have rejected candidates tied to the January 6 Capitol protests. Democratic voters, meanwhile, appear to be embracing candidates aligned with the Democratic Socialists of America, a faction that has faced accusations of failing to adequately condemn the October 7 massacre that killed over 1,200 Israelis.
