Land of the Rising Tide

Images such as this continue to emerge of the devastation from northeastern Japan’s earthquake and tsunami on March 11 that left almost 30,000 people dead or missing, an estimated $310 billion worth of damage and triggered the biggest nuclear crisis in decades. Despite a daunting task of rebuilding, leaders from multiple Christian organizations stress how the tragedy can open doors for a gospel of hope. 

“This is our opportunity,” says Doug Stringer, founder of Somebody Cares. “We can see a nation of very honorable but proud people in a desperate situation receive the love of Christ through God’s people in a very tangible way … and meet the hope of glory because of it.”
