‘Enough Is Enough’: Pastor Lorenzo Sewell Confronts Dearborn Leaders Over Sharia Law

A Christian pastor delivered a fiery rebuke to Dearborn, Michigan, officials Tuesday, accusing city leaders of abandoning equal justice and allowing Islamic influence to supersede American law.

“America, we have lost this city,” Lorenzo Sewell, pastor of 180 Church, told the City Council. “This is a city that is no longer up under American laws. We are up under Sharia law. We will not have it anymore. Enough is enough.”

Sewell’s remarks came amid mounting tensions following an attack on Christian political activist Jake Lang during an Islamic Arbaeen March. Video showed Lang being punched, chased and threatened with a rock. Police arrested one person and sought help identifying others involved.

“You are not up under American law. You are up under Sharia law,” Sewell told officials while demanding further arrests.

Sewell also defended America’s Christian heritage before a council governing the nation’s first predominantly Arab city.

“You’re only 1% of this nation,” Sewell said. “We are not a nation of Muslims. We are a nation of Christians. We are one nation under God.”

Sewell argued that unequal enforcement of existing laws has created a separate standard for the city’s Muslim community.

“You have seen what has happened in this city, and it is my people that have funded you,” Sewell said. “It’s my people that made sure that you have what you have, and you spit on us. You degrade us.”

His declaration carried a clear message: Christians will not remain silent as the biblical principles that influenced America’s founding are pushed aside.
