13-Foot ‘Doomsday Fish’ Washes Ashore: Is This an End-Times Warning?
What in the world is happening with the “doomsday fish?”
Another one of these bizarre creatures has emerged, this time washing ashore dead in Indonesia, and its appearance is once again stirring questions about whether something bigger is coming.
According to the Daily Mail, the giant oarfish measured more than 13 feet long and was discovered Tuesday around 7:30 a.m. on Pink Beach along the coast of Komodo Island. Those on the beach eventually carried the massive, ribbon-like creature inland.
Oarfish are no ordinary sea creatures. These deep-sea dwellers have developed a chilling reputation over the centuries because of their alleged connection to earthquakes and other catastrophic events.
Naturally, this latest appearance sent speculation soaring online.
Sahlan, head of Telone Hamlet in Sekaroh Village, told detikBali that visitors camping in the area found the fish. Despite the unsettling chatter surrounding the creature, he said residents remained calm.
“Even though it’s gone viral and all sorts of things are being said, God willing, none of our residents are panicking,” Sahlan said. “The situation here is calm.”
Scientists have found no evidence that oarfish can predict natural disasters, and marine authorities have dismissed the ominous legend as myth.

Still, history has given people reason to keep watching.
The Daily Mail noted that nearly two dozen oarfish reportedly washed ashore in the months before Japan’s catastrophic magnitude 9.1 Tōhoku earthquake in 2011. Close to 20,000 people died from a tsunami that was activated by that earthquake.
Does that make the oarfish a prophetic warning?
As Charisma has previously reported, strange occurrences in nature should remind Christians of what Scripture says about creation groaning as we move closer to Christ’s return. Romans 8:22 tells us that “the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now.”
With creation behaving in increasingly unusual ways, it’s worth paying attention to what Jesus told His followers to do: watch, discern and remain ready.
