At 5 years old, Kevin Stitt was asked the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Over 40 years later, his mother reminded him of his answer to that question. His response will surprise you.

Kevin Stitt is a family man, entrepreneur, believer in Christ and the 28th governor of Oklahoma. His story is one of small beginnings—starting his business with just $1,000, a computer and no plans for politics—and later leading a lucrative 20-year-old finance business and a successful political campaign.

His advice to those wishing to enter politics is quite simple; don’t be afraid, and just go for it. After being led by God to run for office with no prior political experience, Stitt was faced with following that very same advice. Being a newcomer to the political arena, Stitt had to overcome his own fears and self-limiting beliefs in order to realize the call that God placed on his life.

A little over two years after his election, Stitt has been challenged with some unique and tough decisions on behalf of constituents, including managing business and school closures during the COVID-19 pandemic and working across party lines to unify and advance the state during times of severe political tension. It is his faith and kingdom mindset that has kept him on course and able to meet the needs of those who need him most.

In Episode 1 of Kingdom in Politics, you’ll hear more of Stitt’s story, including his experiences as a new political leader, his position on important decisions that will have generational impact and his thoughts on believers in politics. You’ll also hear his response to the childhood question from over 40 years ago. This kingdom leader’s story will hopefully inspire you to step out in faith and go for it!
