Official Update on Jimmy Swaggart Released by Family

Donnie Swaggart, son of world-renowned televangelist Jimmy Swaggart, offered a heartfelt update on his father’s health Monday, asking supporters for continued prayer and faith as the 90-year-old minister remains hospitalized after suffering cardiac arrest.

“I’ve just come from the hospital and having a few minutes alone with my dad,” Donnie Swaggart said in a video address. “I wish that I could tell you right now that there are recovery and things are going better, but there’s been no change.”

The Swaggart family has been candid with their audience since the health crisis began, providing regular updates. This time, Donnie made clear that the situation is serious. “The bottom line as we sit here right now is that without a miracle, that’s the only thing that we can hope for.”

Despite the somber report, Swaggart shared words of faith and hope from Psalm 18:30. “As for God, his way is perfect. The word of the Lord is tried. He is a buckler to all those who trust in him,” he said, reading from Scripture. “We don’t question the Lord… His ways are perfect.”

He asked supporters to pray especially for his mother, Frances Swaggart, whom he described as “the rock and the strength of our family and of this ministry.” According to Donnie, she has remained constantly by her husband’s bedside, “and you can imagine the physical and mental and emotional toll that this is having on her.”

“I would ask you to pray for her to have strength and clarity of thought,” he added. “This situation is beyond human strength… It’s in the realm of supernatural strength that is needed.”

Swaggart also reaffirmed the family’s dedication to their ministry, promising viewers that the SonLife Broadcasting Network would remain true to its founding message. “I made a promise and a vow to my dad that we would never deviate, that we would never divert from the message that God has birthed this network around—Christ and Him crucified.”

As for the family’s spiritual posture, Donnie Swaggart was unwavering. “You will never hear any of us question the Lord as to why. We know in whom we have believed, and we are persuaded that he is able and his ways are right.”

He concluded the video with gratitude for the outpouring of love, citing even a recent act of kindness from local restaurant staff who paid for his mother’s meal. “You never forget acts of kindness like that,” he said. “Keep praying and keep believing. All things work together for the good of them that love the Lord. And this family loves God. This family lives for God. And this family serves God.”

Updates will continue through social media and broadcast if any change occurs, Donnie said.
