Dinesh D’Souza: Stunning Archaeological Discoveries Are Vindicating the Bible

For centuries, skeptics have tried to bury the Bible beneath doubt, criticism and claims that its stories belong more to legend than history.

There is just one problem: The ground keeps giving up evidence.

Dinesh D’Souza believes something remarkable is happening in our generation. Ancient civilizations are emerging from obscurity. Biblical names are appearing on artifacts. Places described in Scripture are being uncovered. And in Israel, the past is suddenly speaking into the present.

In an interview with Charisma Media’s James Lasher about his new book, “The Stones Cry Out,” D’Souza said biblical archaeology is bringing Scripture into startling historical focus.

“Suddenly, the people and the places and the events of the Bible are like springing to life,” D’Souza said. “They’re entering the pages of history via the pathway of archaeology.”

And D’Souza has a challenge for those convinced archaeology would eventually dismantle the Bible.

“There’s not a single significant archaeological finding that contradicts the Bible,” he said.

Consider the Hittites.

D’Souza noted that 19th-century skeptics once pointed to the Bible’s repeated references to the Hittites as evidence that Scripture described civilizations that never existed. Then archaeologists uncovered evidence of a sprawling Hittite empire.

Even more remarkable are discoveries tied to obscure biblical characters. D’Souza highlighted clay seals bearing names corresponding to Jehuqal son of Shelemiah and Gedaliah son of Pashur—two figures appearing briefly in Jeremiah. For D’Souza, such details directly challenge theories that biblical accounts were manufactured centuries after the fact.

Then there is Sodom and Gomorrah.

D’Souza discussed archaeological work connected with Stephen Collins and pottery discoveries that, according to D’Souza’s account, showed evidence of exposure to extraordinary heat. He suggested an atmospheric explosion involving an asteroid or comet could potentially explain the devastation uncovered at the site.

“The biblical description of Sodom and Gomorrah is God rained fire and brimstone from the sky,” D’Souza said, “and this appears to perfectly match that description.”

But perhaps the most breathtaking evidence concerns Jesus Himself.

D’Souza recalled walking the ancient Pilgrimage Road from the Pool of Siloam toward the temple—the world of the New Testament suddenly beneath his feet. When he asked Zev Orenstein what the chances were that Jesus had walked that route, D’Souza said Orenstein answered, “100%,” based on Jesus’ Jewish identity and His recorded visits to the temple.

“You have this kind of eerie feeling that you are walking the footsteps of Jesus,” D’Souza said.

Yet this story does not end in the ancient past.

“There is an urgency,” D’Souza said, “and a sense that somehow the reason the stones are crying out so urgently is that we are in fact in the last age of mankind.”

Jesus declared in Luke 19:40 that if His followers became silent, “the stones would immediately cry out.”

Two thousand years later, stones buried beneath the land of the Bible are emerging with a testimony of their own.

Perhaps the question is no longer whether the stones are crying out.

It is whether this generation is listening.
