A Family’s Prayers Answered in an Incredible Way

As a growing family, living in expensive New England, Massachusetts, business owner and entrepreneur Rob Willington knew he needed to find a way to pay for his family’s medical costs. The options available to him and his family via the Massachusetts Health Connector were limited and unaffordable. As a family of faith, they also had objections to many of the products and services conventional health insurance providers are mandated to cover.

Willington and his wife learned of Liberty HealthShare from a friend and member of the nonprofit health care organization that offers affordable medical cost sharing, an alternative way to fund health care. The family of six enrolled as members, received their membership cards and began sending their monthly share amount of $449. The membership was put to the test several months later when their youngest son, Liam, became ill.

He was admitted to a local hospital with a potentially life-threatening illness. Liam’s doctors were convinced his condition required a transfer to a hospital in Boston. Transporting Liam via an ambulance in Boston traffic was a risk that could not be taken, and as a result, a life flight was called in for transport.

Liam’s parents knew he needed the flight, but they worried about the expenses. They were left with the choice of which option was better for their son, and they chose to put Liam on the flight.

Liberty HealthShare members were there for the Willington family; members shared their medical costs 100 percent. This allowed the Willingtons to concentrate on the health of their son, not medical costs. Liam received the specialized treatment needed for his illness and made a full recovery.

The Willingtons show their appreciation by reciprocating each month when they send their monthly share to another member with expenses to pay. The family knows firsthand how it feels when others across the nation extend their personal financial and emotional support.

The health ministry consists of people who agree that liberty, freedom and the choice to choose an option that fits best for each individual are a person’s God-given right. Liberty HealthShare members are exempt from the individual mandate of Obamacare and take a personal pledge to meet the needs and medical expenses of other members enrolled.

Liberty HealthShare members share in up to 100 percent of necessary medical expenses, including alternative treatments. Liberty HealthShare is a national community of like-minded people, committed to helping take care of each other’s medical expenses. Memberships are offered for individuals, couples and families.

Liberty HealthShare members have an open network, which means they choose their own doctors and hospitals without the hassle of co-pays. Dealing with medical crises and expenses is stressful, so Liberty HealthShare aids in making the situation as easy as possible for the member. There is a team of professionals that will advocate on the member’s behalf throughout the process to manage the individual’s care efficiently.

Liberty HealthShare is a community of people who commit themselves to help pay medical expenses giving members a peace of mind to concentrate on the priorities at hand as opposed to the healthcare costs.

Faith, Firearms and One Minister’s Journey

On Tuesday, May 10, PBS will nationally broadcast the documentary film The Armor of Light, followed by a town hall meeting with evangelical leaders held at Northland Church in Orlando, Florida. Check your local listings.

In a gripping portrait, director Abigail E. Disney follows the journey of an evangelical minister trying to find the moral strength to preach about the growing toll of gun violence in America. The Armor of Light tracks Rev. Rob Schenck, pro-life activist, head of Faith and Action and the presiding leader of the Evangelical Clergy Alliance, who questions whether being pro-gun is consistent with being pro-life. Rev. Schenck is shocked and perplexed by the reactions of his long-time friends and colleagues who warn him away from this complex, politically explosive issue. Along the way, Rev. Schenck meets Lucy McBath, the mother of Jordan Davis, an unarmed teenager who was murdered in Florida and whose story has cast a spotlight on “Stand Your Ground” laws. Also an evangelical Christian, McBath’s personal testimony compels Rev. Schenck to reach out to pastors around the country to discuss the moral and ethical response to gun violence.

In expanded efforts to continue a prayerful and biblical conversation on guns and gun violence, Rev. Schenck and other evangelical leaders have launched a new website called Sword of the Spirit—A Christian Conversation on Gun Violence. Created to be a “safe place” for pastors, evangelical leaders and laymen, the site provides pastoral resources, inspiration, articles and a forum where all can be encouraged to seek out biblical guidance on the issue of guns and gun violence in America ().

You Won’t Believe the Stir This Sign Has Created

Pornography has created a deadly battlefield for Christian Men. A new film series is giving men the weapons to fight, conquer and walk in freedom,” read a sign at the National Religious Broadcasters convention earlier this year.

As controversial as this might seem, it looks like the sign is right on the money with 68 percent of men in church struggling with pornography. This is flowing on to families, as 56 percent of divorce cases cite pornography as being one of the causes of the break up.

The good news is that there are men in churches around the world who are walking with broken guys on their shoulders, bringing them off the battlefield of bondage and into freedom with Christ.

There are now 350,000 men who have been through the Conquer Series and are learning to conquer porn and walk in freedom.

Will you take a stand with these men and bring the Conquer Series to your church? To your families?

If you’re at one of the 91% of churches that does not have a program for men, find out more about the Conquer Series today.

Latest Porn Stats reveal Church’s dirty little secret

The latest statistics on pornography and the church were released by the Barna Group at the Set Free Summit in Greensboro, NC last week. The existing statistics were daunting enough, stating that 68% of church going men viewed Porn on a regular basis.

The latest stats, available in a report called The Porn Phenomenon, reveal that the porn epidemic is escalating.

Earlier in the year, Josh McDowell who commissioned the research revealed that “Of young adults 18-24 years old, 76 percent actively – and these are Christians – actively seek out porn.”

Additionally, when asked about a friend’s porn use, 49% of young adults say that all or most of their friends view porn regularly.

Porn is now not just a male issue, with 33% of females aged 13-24 using porn regularly.

The church is currently ill equipped to deal with this epidemic. Only 9% of church goers and 7% of Pastors say that they have a program at their church to help those struggling with pornography.

The good news is that there is a Cinematic DVD series where over 350,000 men are learning to conquer Porn and walk in freedom.

Worship & Mission: Building God’s Throne Room on Earth

I’ve been really praying about this topic: worship and mission. These two words are like fire in my belly; they daily give me my purpose and reason. They are not entirely separate from each other; they are almost like a bride and groom—hard to have a wedding with just one of them. Yet mission will always be trumped by worship for worship abides forever. As we continue to create God’s throne room here among us, building his glorious throne of praise and going deeper in our understanding and experience, we will realize the passion God has for the lost and broken, that everyone needs to hear, see, and know the goodness of the gospel.

Revelation

I continually find myself in John 4, seeing and hearing the scene where “true worship” is discussed by Jesus and the Samaritan woman. Seeing once more that when Christ’s Lordship is established, living waters are our promise, our inheritance, our radical need, and God’s even more radical provision.

As we continue to reveal Jesus in every area of our lives, I see God’s throne being established among us in our churches, in our communities, in our families, in our new experiences and in our traditions. For wherever He is enthroned, there you’ll find hearts that are open and thirsty for the one thing none of us can acquire elsewhere, only from relationship with Jesus: Living Water.

How can truthful and authentic worship be anything but missional? In genuine worship we are constantly declaring God’s goodness, always announcing and declaring that he is with us, always being filled with joy in his presence, always announcing freedom, always dependent on the Holy Spirit to fill us, change us, lead us, and turn our sorrows into joy, our mourning into dancing.

More Than a Song

To worship with our life means that it is not just in the singing of songs that we find our hearts emblazoned with mission, but it is the result of a worshipful life where mission finds its expression in the going, the sending, and the daily expression of our faith in the ordinary. As Christ followers, all that we are should be somehow resulting in bringing the love and light of Christ to our world. Is this mission? Yes. Is this worship? Yes.

Limitless Connection

I’ll never forget sitting in the South African dirt with a beautiful four-year-old boy in an orphanage in Johannesburg. It seemed nothing could reach his lonely little heart, no toys or games, not even the crazy young musicians traveling along with us could find a way to connect with him. His eyes were glazed over; I cannot bear to think about what he had endured at such a young age. So in the dirt, into his gorgeous, perfectly formed little ears, I started to sing, “Jesus loves me.” It only took moments for his stunning tear-filled eyes to look up, and it was like our hearts connected right there and then. Building Jesus a throne in the middle of the dirt. As we drew near, he drew near to us (Jas 4:8). That’s the promise. There is no other name like the name of Jesus to heal our wounds, calm our fears, walk with us through suffering, and to even hold an aching four-year-old heart tenderly in his hands. This little boy’s heart was opened to the love of Jesus, and he experienced what it was like to draw from a well that could never be taken from him, and certainly never run dry.

I may not have been leading lots of worship through music over the last 12 months, but the mission of my life, as a worshiper, has not changed one bit. As I’ve sat in doctors’ waiting rooms and laid in bed for many months, that call to take Jesus to every sacred place burns in me just like leading people to his glorious courts through praise does. Living our lives poured out … in response to his great love for the world may know!

Is Peace Possible? Understanding the Current Middle East Crisis

One of Israel’s greatest Prime Ministers, Golda Meir, once said, “Peace will come when the Arabs love their children more than they hate us.”

Since Israel’s statehood in 1948, Israel has endured repeated wars and attacks.  They have constantly faced the threat of a hostile Arab world that wants it gone.  Thousands of their young soldiers have been killed in this struggle for their survival and thousands more citizens have perished in terrorist attacks and suicide bombings.

The rise to power of radical Islamic groups like the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, particularly given their historic ties to Hamas and their hatred of Israel, coupled with continued terrorist activity from Hamas and Hezbollah, and the looming specter of Iran’s nuclear weapons program have created the greatest threat to Israel’s continued existence they have faced since the Yom Kippur war of 1973.

Long-time allies such as Great Britain and the United States have recently shifted position and have taken a more adversarial role toward Israel, pressing for concessions of land for peace.  Keep in mind that all of the concessions made to date have only been met with demands for more, and have resulted not in peace but in continued hostility.

The lessons of the last century should have taught us that appeasement never works, but it appears that our generation is intent on learning that lesson at Israel’s expense.  Truth be told, it is highly unlikely if not impossible that any plan for peace engineered or imposed by man will succeed.

The only viable plan for peace that WILL succeed is God’s peace plan, and that plan is through the Prince of Peace, Yeshua – Jesus the Messiah.  Only when He is invited in and hearts are changed can Arab and Jew, Israeli and Palestianian live in true peace with one another.

About “Is Peace Possible”: Author, television host, and Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Bernis provides a fascinating insider’s snapshot into the rapidly changing Middle East conflict, analyzing the brewing undercurrents of impending doom from a historical, biblical, and prophetic perspective.  Using Scripture, Rabbi Bernis illustrates that this conflict is largely spiritual rather than merely political in nature, with God as the only solution that can succeed.
