A Tribute to My Friend Who Showed His Undying Love for Jesus Through His Great Generosity

Dennis Doyle was a great man with a generous heart, who was enormously successful in real estate and who used his business acumen to enrich the lives of millions. He was also one of my closest friends. He died of Alzheimer’s on May 15 at age 68.

Although we wrote about him in Charisma, and I did several Strang Report podcasts on the ministry he founded, you may not have heard of Dennis. However, in the Twin Cities, where he owned enormous amounts of real estate, he was well-known and greatly loved. I wanted to add my personal tribute to the many good things being said and written about his life.

I knew Dennis well for almost 20 years because we were in a small group of Christian businessmen who met several times a year. We would discuss not only business but spiritual issues and, in a way, hold each other accountable. Though the men in the group were all successful, Dennis was the most successful from a financial perspective. However, he was humble and rarely talked about himself or of all he had accomplished. Most often he talked in the group about helping others through the ministry he founded in 2000 called Hope for the City, later called MATTER.

Two decades ago, Dennis visited some Indonesian pastors in Los Angeles who had been businessmen in Indonesia. He learned they collected surplus supplies to distribute to the poor back home. He realized he could do the same in the Twin Cities, the headquarters of huge companies like Target and General Mills with surplus usable products but no way to distribute them to the poor. Where others saw this surplus as a problem, the Doyles saw an opportunity. Dennis set up a small non-profit ministry, rented some trucks and for $40,000 in costs was able to distribute $1.8 million worth of product to the poor the first year.

In the early years Dennis and his wife, Megan, provided the funding. As the ministry grew, others came alongside because they saw how much good was being done and how efficient the ministry was. One of these people was Gene Simmons of KISS, who is also a philanthropist. They became friends, and KISS did several fundraiser concerts that, over several years, raised several million dollars for the ministry. Gene Simmons and KISS also brought notoriety to the ministry. As the ministry grew—and to broaden its appeal, especially to a new generation, the ministry changed its name to MATTER.

I remember Dennis explained the name, how the donors matter; the poor matter; and everything is made up of matter! According to its website, MATTER “was founded on a simple, yet profound question by the Doyles. As people of deep faith with a keen sense of responsibility toward the poor and most vulnerable in our world, they asked themselves, ‘what do we have in our own hands that can help?'”

Dennis did so much in such a short time a book could be written about it, but because I can only touch on a few highlights, I invited his widow and my close friend, Megan, to reminisce about Dennis and what his life represented. This very personal podcast gives a glimpse of this incredible man.

Dennis’ reputation as a successful entrepreneur is certain to be remembered by those whom he did business with over many, many decades. However, Megan says, his legacy takes on a much higher meaning in the kingdom of God.

She spoke of his generosity and added, “His life was a life of someone who never gave up. He had to get his last ounce of life in before he would let go. That’s how he lived his whole life. He did everything 150%.”

To give you an idea of Dennis’ godly character, he once said this: “Don’t judge, come up with grand ideas. Come up with a spirit of love, and you’ll reach people in a way they will understand.”

Acting on the Doyles’ grand idea to reach the people in the Twin Cities, they began to leverage their corporate network, and the response from several businesses, including Target and Cargill, were overwhelming. MATTER took off from there exponentially, and today it has impacted more than 40 million people worldwide since its inception. In fact, Megan told me that MATTER has given away more than $650 million of corporate surplus to the poor during that period of time.

“We continue to feed the poor in Minnesota and in other areas of the United States,” Megan told me. “We continue to furnish hospitals overseas as well as provide technology centers. We partner with Microsoft to bring computer access to faraway places in Africa and Indonesia, where a computer could not be afforded. To succeed in today’s world, you have to have computer skills. If there’s one thing separating the developing world from the Western world, it’s technology. So, the more we can help to close that gap, the better the whole world will be.”

I have conducted other interviews with the Doyles in the past. Their love for people is second to none. As MATTER President Quenton Marty recently said: “Dennis was one of the humblest people I’ve known. … He was a rock star. He always had time for people and wanted to hear their ideas. He never took himself too seriously, and he never considered himself more important than others. This is what I admired most about my dear friend and mentor. He will be greatly missed.”

I got to know Dennis in 2001, when he was in his late 40s. As I got to know him, I knew one thing was apparent. He loved Jesus. He really did. Dennis let his light shine before men, as Jesus commanded us to do. Because of that, he was greatly loved. I never knew anybody who didn’t love Dennis.

As I told Megan in the podcast, I know that even people who never knew Dennis will be inspired by his life of devotion to Christ and his generous spirit. Not only did he help the poor, but he made a difference in the lives of the people he hired, the clients he served and the entire Twin Cities area. Minnesota is better because of Dennis Doyle.

He was a role model to many, as he was to me. I’ve personally been inspired by his generosity both as a friend who helped me navigate a few business issues and a servant of Christ who extended generosity to tens of thousands he never met.

One of Dennis Doyle’s favorite sayings and the credo for which he lived his life was, “Do good by doing good.” It was as simple as that for him. {eoa}

Prophecy: It’s Time for the Body to Get Out of Poverty

I keep hearing the word “entrepreneurship.” This word keeps cycling through my soul and spirit.

The word came from the Holy Spirit weeks ago as I was preaching. I intended to teach on spiritual warfare when the Holy Spirit released entrepreneurship, business ideas and creative strategies in the message. It has been continually coming up in my spirit about creating wealth for distribution and residual income.

I’ve been hearing that we need to create businesses—and not only for ourselves but to assist others. It is time for the body of Christ to come into wealth and get out of poverty. The poverty and lack mentality has been active too long. God wants to distribute wealth, but it comes with business creation. One of the burdens on my heart these past few weeks has been to help other people start businesses.

Whether ministry or business, we keep too many ideas to ourselves and don’t try to establish other people. The fleshly tendencies of competition, jealousy and pride take hold, and we want to continue to build our empire and thrive more than we want to help others succeed.

Elisha got a double portion of Elijah’s mantle (2 Kings 2:9). Shouldn’t we as kingdom citizens desire to lead everyone we are mentoring or helping to create a double portion? Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples” (Matt. 28:19a). When we sow and invest in others from a secular or spiritual aspect, we are making disciples.

Many of us are looking for our financial situation to change and increase. However, this will usually happen by us creating and changing our position. This is best done with the Holy Spirit’s partnership. In my new book, Prophetic Spiritual Warfare:Partnering with the Holy Spirit to Manifest Your Destiny, you can learn how to manifest God’s will for your life through declaring prayer, conquering warfare and discerning the spiritual realm. I teach you how to rebuke and bind demonic attacks in your life.

I need you to fulfill your destiny. The Lord needs you to walk in your calling. There are many people in the world whose lives need to be changed yet by knowing and embracing Jesus. You can be that conduit as you release your prophetic destiny and God’s will for your life.

The Lord is creating wealth, entrepreneur ideas and business opportunities. Take time to get into the presence of the Lord and receive His instructions on how you can manifest this in your life. {eoa}

WATCH: New Single From Israel Houghton, Chandler Moore on God’s Miracles, Signs, Wonder

When the world was shut down, Israel Houghton of Israel & New Breed got to work. From a time of quarantine to a time of musical inspiration, God revealed Himself to Houghton in new ways. And for singers, new revelation from God means new music.

From their newest album, Feels Like Home, comes hit single “He’s a Wonder”: a song dedicated to returning to that childlike wonder believers have when first encountering Jesus.

This is a spiritually charged feeling Houghton is all too familiar with. He recalls in a prior interview when he accepted Jesus as his Savior at the age of 5.

“My mother had the good sense to tell me that was the presence of God—that I should always go after when God is in the room and make sure I’m sensitized to that,” he says.

And that became a recurring theme in the singer’s life. Just before God called him to start a church, Houghton prayed, “Lord, I’m done. I’m done with helping people know my name, with trying to pursue some sort of career path. I just want to worship. I just want to be used by You.”

Now, despite the hills and valleys he’s traveled through, Houghton, along with friend and fellow performer Chandler Moore, offer “He’s a Wonder” as praise to the God who “takes my breath away.” {eoa}

Have You Embraced the Place Where You Are Stationed?

One morning while I was in prayer, the Lord called me a hypocrite. Ouch! When I inquired as to why, He answered, “Because you rally people to pray for your city, even for your mayor, but you despise where you are.” The Lord continued, “You are mad at the city. You have despised the land. It should be the powers and principalities that are ruling over it that you should be dealing with!”

The circumstances that brought me to Lakeland, Florida, back in the 1980s were not ideal. Choices I had made resulted in years of lost dreams, a broken heart and the overwhelming disappointment from unanswered prayers that I encountered there. Honestly, I had been looking for a way to board the next train out of town. “Maybe Texas or Virginia will be better,” I pondered. “Just get me out of here,” became the cry of my heart to the Lord. I wanted to run as far away from this place as possible. In my heart I wanted no part of it. My hurts dictated my attitude.

There I was, an ordained minister travelling throughout the state and the U.S. leading worship and prayer meetings, while holding resentment toward my own city at the same time. Sounds ludicrous, doesn’t it? Yet it was true. I had to come to terms with my sin. Right there in that moment, I chose to die to my self-justified accusations against my city. I repented for despising the land God created. I had to ask Him to forgive me for hating the city I lived in. I had to accept the fact that the Lord ordered my steps, and I was there for a reason. What I thought I wanted had to die. At that moment, I chose not only to reside here but also to invest my time and prayers into the success of my city.

Let’s get one thing straight: We cannot go to war for something we don’t believe in. Today’s common church mentality is to tolerate this earthly life until we get to heaven because the world’s final destination is doom and destruction. This is not God’s mandate for the church. We were saved to take dominion. We must search our heart and get clear of any resentment, judgment or curses we have spoken over our city, nation, business, family or church. If we do not do that, chances are our motives for praying will be tainted. We must come to terms with the fact that “The earth belongs to the Lord, and its fullness, the world, and those who dwell in it” (Ps. 24:1). We were born and placed in our territory for such a time as this. We are called to exercise dominion where God has planted us on this side of eternity.

Are we willing to die for our cities? How about our churches? What about our government? Jesus was willing to lay down His life for the cause of the kingdom—are we? There is a cost to walk this walk. The price is everything. We will know when we’ve come to this place. Until we get here, we must be aware of our heart motives in battle. You see, if we lay down our lives for our cities, then we no longer filter our prayers and actions through our own desires. Our eyes and ears will be tuning to the Lord, and we will pray and do what He is doing on the earth. It’s no longer prayers that demand our will be done. Our prayer lives will declare, “Lord, Your will be done!

Revelation 12:7-11 says:

Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was there a place for them in heaven any longer. The great dragon was cast out, that ancient serpent called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world. He was cast down to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him.

Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying: “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto the death.”

As a believer of Jesus Christ, we must know that the blood of the Lamb redeems us. Jesus paid the ultimate price of redemption for us with His life. He became the sacrificial Lamb who took away all of our sins. Couple this truth with our own personal stories of salvation, and our willingness to die for the kingdom’s cause will overcome the work of the accuser of the brethren in our midst. In Jesus and His finished work of redemption we live!

5 Ways Another Pentecost Will Surprise Us

When people staged surprise birthday parties for me in the past, I usually figured out their plans. But two years ago some friends organized a party without my knowing, and when I walked into the room I was totally shocked. There were banners, balloons, a cake and 30 people—and I didn’t see it coming. This must be how it felt to be one of the disciples on the day of Pentecost.

Jesus told His followers they would be baptized in the Holy Spirit, but He gave them no clue about when or how. The key word in Acts 2 is “suddenly,” found in verse 2. When they were gathered together they heard the sound of wind; they saw flames of fire; and they began to speak in languages they didn’t know. The commotion attracted a huge international crowd. After Peter preached, 3,000 people decided to believe in Jesus. And none of this was rehearsed.

We will celebrate Pentecost this year on Sunday, May 23. Are you ready for another surprise? On the first Pentecost, heaven literally came down. The Holy Spirit “filled” the room (v. 2) and “filled” the disciples (v. 4). That’s because they needed supernatural power to do the work Jesus commissioned them to do. The church can’t do its job if we are filled with ourselves; we must be empty and surrendered, so God can work.

We are overdue for another heavenly visitation. As I have read and reread the book of Acts this year, I see five blessings of Pentecost that we need today:

1. We need the rushing wind of new life. Acts 2:2 says “a noise like a violent rushing wind” filled the upper room where the disciples prayed. The sound was evidence of the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit. Just as the Spirit brooded over the waters of creation to bring life (Gen. 1:2), the Holy Spirit breathed His life into dry bones and brought forth a living church.

We need this new life today. The church is dry. Our congregations are aging. Many churches today haven’t baptized a new convert in years. We can’t jumpstart new life in our churches with programs, nice buildings or slick social media promotions. We need heaven’s wind to resuscitate and revive us. Lord, send the wind again!

2. We need the fire of God’s holiness. There was no giant pillar of fire standing nearby on the day of Pentecost. In the time of the New Covenant, the flame rests on each person. The fire burns much closer to us. The Holy Spirit comes to live inside of each of us, and the flame rests on every head. Every believer is ignited with a holy passion for God.

We will not impact our wayward culture unless every Christian carries the fire inside. Not only does everyone need to be filled with the Spirit, but we must also learn to maintain the fire and never quench it. This requires that we crucify our ungodly desires and develop close intimacy with the Holy Spirit. Lord, send the fire again!

3. We need the tongues of supernatural anointing. I hear a lot of talk about the Holy Spirit these days, but words can be cheap. In the New Testament, the disciples had more than words—they had the demonstration of supernatural miracles. They had what the Bible calls “the manifestation of the Spirit” (1 Cor. 12:7). One definition of “manifestation” is “a perceptible, outward or visible expression.”

Many Christians today have gone so long without seeing the reality of God’s healing power that they don’t even believe God heals today. But God never unplugged His power; we short-circuited it with our unbelief. People need to know that the same Jesus who makes lame beggars walk and blind men see is still working in us. Lord, send Your miracles again!

4. We need bold preaching that produces conversion. The miracles of wind, fire and speaking in tongues were important. But the biggest miracle happened when Peter, a flawed man who had denied Jesus three times, preached a bold sermon. Peter had many weaknesses, yet the Spirit worked through him anyway. He “raised his voice” (v. 14) and bravely defended his faith.

This is a lesson for us all. You may speak in tongues, but if you don’t use the Spirit’s power to reach lost souls, you have cheapened the definition of a Pentecostal. We often say that tongues is the initial evidence of the infilling of the Spirit. But if someone isn’t bold to witness, they can’t be full of the Spirit. Lord, give us souls again!

5. We need the miraculous unity of the Holy Spirit. Before the day of Pentecost was over, people from all over the Roman Empire had come to know Jesus Christ—people from Egypt, Libya, Mesopotamia, Rome, Persia and beyond. Peter had prophesied this miracle when he said the Holy Spirit would fall “on all mankind” (Acts 2:17). Pentecost is not Pentecost if it does not break down racial and cultural barriers. The Holy Spirit is grieved by racism and classism. Lord, break down the walls again!

I hope you are praying for another visitation of Pentecost. We can’t predict what it will look like exactly, or where it might begin, but our hearts should be desperate for God to unleash it. {eoa}

Prophetic Word: The Lord Says, ‘I Am Unsheathing My Sword’

Matthew 10:34-39 records the words of Jesus: “Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn ‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man’s foes will be those of his own household.’ He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And He who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.”

Christ isn’t anti-family; however, He does oppose anything and anyone that takes precedence over Him.

“For you shall not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God” (Ex. 34:14).

The Lord says, “Within this season, year and decade, I, the sovereign Lord, am unsheathing My sword. I shall commence to divide (to separate into two or more parts, areas or groups) for the purpose of identifying the authentic from the counterfeit, allies from adversaries (both foreign and domestic), guardians from perpetrators, law-abiding kingdom citizens from law breakers and gatekeepers from gate destroyers.

“I, the Lord, am employing the ‘cutting weapon’ with a vengeance. My intent is to expose (to leave without shelter or defense), uncover (make known to the public information that was previously known only to a few people or that was meant to be kept a secret), and unearth (to dig up; bring to light) all internal enemies of the Lord Jesus Christ’s church. This unsheathing of the sword, this employing of the cutting weapon, will recalibrate and realign My body with the sovereign God’s will established before the foundations of the world.”

God says retribution (a dispensing of punishment) is coming at large to the church. {eoa}

The Belonging Co. Founder Alex Seeley: God Will Call and Equip You

Author, speaker and founder of The Belonging Co., Alex Seeley learned from a young age how to trust God and obey, even when she didn’t feel qualified or equipped.

In this video, she recalls how when she accepted God as her Lord and Savior, there was a profound connection moment. “I felt the physical manifestation of being separated from God, and that lifting of me, and being reconnected to God,” she says.

“I felt the call of God come over my life and I felt this impression that I would become a servant for Him.”

In 1984, Seeley recognized that women in ministry were a “rare breed,” so she was unsure of how exactly God would use her but at the ripe age of eleven, she knew that His promises were true and His plan was good.

Watch this video to learn about the “line in the sand” moment that propelled Seeley into her ministry, the doubt she faced and continues to face as a women in ministerial leadership and the truth the Lord continues to speak to her heart.

Mike Lindell Says God’s Justice Will Eradicate ‘Communist’ Cancel Culture

Despite cancel culture’s desperate attempt to silence him and ruin his company, MyPillow’s Mike Lindell hasn’t stopped fighting for truth and freedom in America. He truly believes what happened in November’s election was a great injustice for this country, and he has tirelessly worked to help overturn it.

Lindell told me on a Strang Report podcast recently that if the Supreme Court agrees to look at the election evidence he and his team has compiled, Donald Trump will be back in office by August.

But, Lindell says, it’s up to those conservatives who believe in the cause to get the word out to everyone to see that justice is done and to drive out the “communists” he says are currently in power.

“The election came and went, and all of a sudden when I got new evidence on January 9 that all of this was done through machines in an attack by China and I started putting it out there, the cancel culture started attacking me,” Lindell says. “I started being attacked through my business, and with that, we knew that they were hiding something.

“All of the evidence we have—and you can see it all on these are cyber footprints. We have it for every part of this election now, and we’re 100% certain that it will stand up in court anywhere. That’s one way for everyone, including Democrats, to be educated about all of the evidence we have.

“Another action is to watch the movie, Absolute Interference. You can see it on and . You watch that and you’re going to see 19 of these cyber attacks, which I had completely validated by white hat hackers, who worked for our government. I spent five weeks with them validating the evidence we have. What they did was they came back and said it was 100% what happened. They know the buildings they came from, the IP addresses and the IDs of the computer. They know exactly what time the interference came over here, and how much vote was flipped. That’s a cyber print.”

“People also need to pray and to let their friends and family know to pray for this,” Lindell says. “We need to bring our voices together.”

Lindell says we are in the middle of a spiritual battle between good and evil, but because God is on our side, believers need to stop living in fear and start living out our faith. It’s the only thing that can save our country.

“So, the battle is, when we get to the Supreme Court, they need to look at it and accept it,” Lindell says. “When they do, it’s going to be 9-0 and they are going to pull down this election.” {eoa]

As a Member of God’s Elect, It’s Time for You Act

If there was ever a time for God’s church to act, it’s now!

Psalm 119:126 says, “It is time for You, O Lord, to act, for they have broken Your law.”

While we understand a sovereign move from heaven is eminent, there is also an urgency for action, not just from heaven, but by God’s church. When the Lord acts, He uses His people, His church, to occupy, take ground and positions, and places where decisions are being made. This is where change happens.

Matthew 28:18-19 says “Then Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

Fearless Forward Motion Is Needed

The devil may have power to shift minds with his lies and manipulation, but he does not have authority. We do. When the church is mobilized into action, knowing the authority of Jesus resides inside of us, God backs us up in the places He sends us to take ground and make decisions according to His plans and purposes, thus bringing back into alignment and overturning destructive decisions.

Small Groups Have Great Influence

Small groups, intentional on prayer, receiving strategies and taking action, will be used by God to shift cities, counties, school districts and neighborhoods. As they multiply and mobilize, change happens. When God’s plan, purpose, power and favor are in alignment, He establishes His will. Prayer is the most important action needed, as it is through this avenue that God divinely instructs His people with timing, wisdom and plans to advance His kingdom and set in order things that are out of order.

Lawlessness Is Defeated When the Church Arises

“For the eyes of the Lord move about on all the earth to strengthen the heart that is completely toward Him” (2 Chron. 16:9). He’s looking for people who will take the charge and take back what has been stolen. His power is unlimited, and His plans are sure.

As God makes a way where there seems to be no way, corrupt leaders will be replaced with God-fearing leaders who won’t back down or be intimidated.

It’s time for you to act and take your place at this pivotal time in history. God is with us. Fear not. {eoa}
