How Some Evangelicals Tragically Have Joined the ‘Woke’ Culture

It’s difficult to imagine this issue would rear its ugly head in any Bible-believing church—especially a Pentecostal one—but there is a major atrocity I believe tragically has infiltrated many sanctuaries across our great country.

The best words I can use to describe this problem is the “Christian left.”

There are a lot of Christians out there that are espousing things I don’t really believe add up to the Word of God. And sometimes, it’s hard to understand.

That’s why I decided to bring Lucas Miles back on to my Strang Report podcast. The last time I had him on, we talked about how liberal thought has hijacked the church in recent years. We discussed how the influence of our culture and other theologies and beliefs is sparking division within the church. It’s the definitive work of the enemy, and it’s the exact opposite of what God wants when He comes back soon for His bride.

The author of The Christian Left and an ordained pastor with more than 20 years of ministry experience, Miles says the church has fallen into compromise in many, many ways and, in a lot of cases, believers aren’t even aware of it. That is exactly why he wrote the book.

“This is a book that I hope will correct a problem in the church,” Miles told me on my podcast. “And in order to really correct it in the right way, I had to address some of the individuals that are perhaps creating these problems in the church, which certainly puts a little bit of a target on my back.

“I have been preaching for 20-plus years, and at the same church for 17 of those years. I’ve seen a rising, what the New York Times is calling ‘liberal Christianity,’ and I’m seeing very few people brave enough to address it. I really felt like the Lord prompted my heart and He asked me, ‘do you want to undertake this?’ I believe God give us a choice sometimes. It is a challenging topic, but I didn’t want to miss what God has for me, so I took it on.”

Miles says that there has been a “leftward drift” in the church for many years. It’s just been so gradual and subtle that many people have not noticed it.

There are now a lot of believers that refer to themselves as “evangelical Democrats,” or so the stickers on the back bumper of their cars say. But there are a lot of Republicans that are liberal, too. We’re not just talking about liberal politics; we’re talking about attitudes within the church.

So, what is the definition of the term “wokeism?” Miles says this:

“There was a definition I used in my book, and I pulled it from a book called Woke Christians. The author refers to Christians who embrace sort o a pro-choice position on abortion, as well as gay marriage, and also things like BLM. Beyond that, wokeism is really the recognition or consciousness of heightened political correctness as well as a consciousness of an oppressed society.

“I think it’s really a false consciousness of an oppressed society. But it frames a lot of how the woke community operates because they see themselves and many of those around them in some sort of victim state. It really divides society into groups—the oppressed and the oppressor—and anybody that doesn’t look like you is most likely the oppressor. As a woke Christian or individual, you are the oppressed. It’s rather pessimistic because it doesn’t really give any opportunity for redemption or forgiveness.”

Remember the Sacred Sacrifices That Secured Our Liberty

Here in the United States, we have celebrations during the month of May. Are you ready to celebrate Memorial Day? When we visit cemeteries this time of year, there are flags that different people and organizations have put up in honor of those who have given their lives to win us the freedom we enjoy and prayerfully cherish. Have you ever given thought to what you are free to do in your daily life that someone was willing to die for? That alone is worth meditating on and thanking the Lord for those blessings. Let us keep our governmental leaders in our prayers that they fear the Lord and make wise, God-honoring decisions for all people.

There is a far greater freedom for all people. Jesus won that for us. Nearly 2,000 years ago, Jesus laid down His life to pay our sin debt in full. For those who choose to make Jesus their Lord and Savior, we have the freedom from guilt and condemnation. There is a joy in knowing God removes our sins as far as the east is from the west. He remembers our sins no more. Now, that is a freedom to celebrate every day! Praise the Lord! Can we live out that freedom in praising and magnifying the Lord every day? Can we recommend Jesus to others? We are blessed to be a blessing!

I want to extend my thanks to those who serve in the military. Thank you for your service and in defending our nation. For those of you who may have lost a loved one and have moments of grief in your heart, it is my prayer that Christian friends and family will join around you to comfort you. Please keep the good memories in your precious mind. I look forward to the day where I get to see my loved ones in heaven. Getting excited about seeing our loving and gracious Father very soon should inspire us to share Jesus in our daily lives. Lord, we pray for open doors and the wisdom of how to speak and act to share your love with others.

We have been digging into two of my books, Heaven Bound and Walking the Talk. I would like to invite you to spend some time with me in Bible Study. We will be diving into sharing Jesus with those around us as well as growing with the Lord. You can read along and listen to my recent episode of Loved Always on the Charisma Podcast Network. My website, , has links to purchase each book. Bring along your Bible as it is the foundation for any book I write to help believers. There are countless Scriptures in these books. We will only be able to touch the surface within this framework. I would like to make sure you have great resources that help you in your journey with the great God we love, serve and worship.

Please enjoy the verse of the day or leave a prayer request at . {eoa}

Chicago Mayor Faces Backlash for Declining to Give Interviews to White Journalists

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot recently made the announcement that she would only be granting interviews to reporters of color. She has faced backlash for the decision. Chicago NBC reporter Mary Ann Ahern was one of the reporters with whom Lightfoot refused to grant an interview.

Ahern said, “I think it’s outrageous for an elected official to choose who will ask questions.”

The Best Plan for Breaking Out of Your Pressure Cooker

Ever feel overwhelmed with life, society, dysfunctional relationships, let alone the foreboding knowledge of coming wars and rumors of wars? Along with many other prophetic voices, I declared that 2020 was a dress rehearsal of things yet to come.

To describe the emotional impact of the last several months, I would call it: “living life in a pressure cooker!”

So how do we navigate life in the midst of chaos and times of uncertainty? Sometimes we try to go it alone, or we run away from the very people that we need. When we get overwhelmed, we may tend to become fearful or wrestle with feelings of rejection, as though we are looking from the outside, longing to be let in.

These are the very times we need to run toward community and not away from it. These are the very times we need to run to worship and the Word instead of callusing ourselves against it. I have felt rather overwhelmed at times this last year, and instead of running away from accountability and trusted key relationships, I have chosen to run to trusted leaders.

Run to Jesus, Our Older Brother

I run to Jesus! Who do you run to? Jesus is so much more than a doctrine, as the Son of God. Jesus is my Savior, my friend and my older brother. He is the one who has gone before me. I often go back to the old hymns I grew up on to help me find solace for my unsettled soul such as, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.” I may sing it softly, or I may loudly sing in declaration, “How Great Thou Art, How Great Thou Art!” But I sing it from my heart because my heart needs to be connected.

Jesus announced to the world that He was the one who had come to set the captives free. Jesus was and is “despised and rejected—a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief” (Isa. 53:3, NLT). Jesus was overwhelmed! You can relate to Him. You can run to Him.

Jesus Himself came among us as a servant. He told us that the greatest among us is to be the servant of all: He who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves” (Luke 22:26, NKJV). Sometimes that may mean dropping your title, letting go of your need to be recognized and instead serving cups of water to your brothers and sisters.

Walk in Forgiveness

I had to learn how to walk in forgiveness and how to conduct myself as a son of a perfect Father. In that process, I learned that I did not have to reach perfection in my own strength. I learned not to fear retribution. Our heavenly Father loves us simply because He made us. We are His; He said our names are inscribed on the palms of His hands (see Isa. 49:15-16).

God’s healing touch manifested itself over time for me. He healed me from feelings of rejection I received from growing up with verbal abuse. Sometimes the process came in dramatic ways, and sometimes the healing came as part of my concerted effort to establish His truth in my heart. I learned (and I’m still learning) how to trust Him all the way, all the time.

As a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ, each of us needs to be like a rhinoceros—thick-skinned but with a big, sensitive heart. For too long I have been thin-skinned with a big heart. I have learned the hard way about feeling rejected because of my prophetic sensibilities, and the primary lesson I have learned is that my flow of revelation will slow to a trickle if I do not get up when I have been knocked down.

I have learned that I always need the main and plain truth of the gospel more than I may think. The way of the cross leads home, and through Jesus we each have a personal place of belonging.

It’s the Gospel Truth!

The truth is that Jesus was punished for our sin that we might be forgiven (see Isa. 53:9-12). He was wounded for our sicknesses that we might be healed. “By his wounds we are healed” (Isa. 53:5, NIV). He became poor for our sakes that we might have His wealth. Our Lord died so that we might have His life. (Read all of Isaiah 53—the ringing declaration of the divine exchange.)

We have been accepted, adopted and cared for. God does not only tolerate us, He fully embraces and loves us (see Eph. 1:5-6, 3:14-15; John 1:12-13). After all, He created us. He always has time for each and every one of us.

Accept the fact that you are fully accepted in Christ. Lay down your bitterness and forgive those who have rejected you. Instead of returning evil for evil or withdrawing to lick your wounds, sow a blessing. Search out Scriptures that reinforce the fact that you are accepted in Christ, loved with an everlasting love that does not depend upon your performance.

Let the Spirit of God transform your mind. Accept yourself. Recognize that “We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them” (Eph. 2:10).

We belong to our Master, Jesus, and He suffered utter rejection. We know because He said, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” (Matt. 27:46, NKJV). By comparison, anything we suffer is insignificant. Turn to Jesus! He loves you so much!

That sounds like a good plan for when you feel overwhelmed, right?

Prophetic Dream: Witness This Season of Creative Miracles

Recently, I had a dream that I was sitting across the table from a prophet, and we were having a discussion about the season we are currently in.

What struck me was the level of creativity that this particular prophet carried. As we discussed the new era, I responded to all they were saying by saying, Yes! We are in a time, right now, of only God.” I knew in the dream that the Lord was speaking about the unprecedented miracles and demonstrations of His power.

I felt a strong sense in the atmosphere that if God doesn’t show up, then the “impossibilities” won’t move. There is nothing that can be done in man’s strength to shift the impossible.

My heart was so excited in the dream because I knew the Lord was speaking of the time we are in now—a season of seeing demonstrations and a level of His power that we have not seen before. This is a time where the faithfulness of the Lord is going to resound loudly in the earth. He is going to show Himself as faithful. He is going to show Himself as the one who never changes and the one who is good and faithful to accomplish that which He has spoken and promised.

As I woke up and sought the Lord’s heart more deeply over what He had been speaking, God began to strongly highlight the creativity that was present in the dream. He told me that many people have received promises and prophetic words from the Lord in this season, but they have not yet manifested. And there has been such a significant battle over these particular promises over their lives. Now the Lord wants to encourage His people that He has not forgotten, and this is a time where there will be mighty demonstrations and the fulfillment of that which He has spoken in unexpected, unusual and creative ways.

Meeting in the Cool of the Day

I heard the words “creative miracles” resound loudly all around me in the spirit. There will be such supernatural, mind-blowing miracles that will loudly defy the natural in more creative ways than have ever been seen. The explosive demonstrations of His power-performing, creative miracles will answer prayers in such creative ways, testifying to His name and His power. They will boldly declare Zechariah 4:6 (ESV):

“Then he said to me, ‘This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.'”

The Lord showed me that these creative demonstrations of His power, to fulfill that which He has spoken, are not only going to heal people’s hearts of deep disappointment, pain, grief, trauma and weariness in the long waiting, but they will usher many people into the deepest place of divine communion with Jesus.

I saw that many places of the heart have been wounded in their relationship with the Lord because of ongoing disappointment, delay and hardship, but there is a flourishing place of intimacy that is being restored. Not only is a deep healing taking place, but there is a new garden being entered into with the Lord that takes “meeting with the Lord in the cool of the day” to a whole new level.

“I Am Restoring the Song of Their Hearts”

The Lord’s words resounded loudly in my heart: “I am restoring the song of their hearts. Many have lost their song, but a new song is bursting forth within them as they see the way that I will creatively fulfill that which I have spoken. The demonstration of My faithfulness will cause them to flourish.

“There are new places of encounter with Me in new gardens that I will have them explore and tend with Me, where they will not only see the new songs restored, but there will be more songs than ever before.

“Many have found confusion, doubt and difficulty creeping into their place of intimacy with Me in hearing My voice, because doubt, deep disappointment, disillusionment and fear have clouded their hearts; but oh the depth of the symphony of My heart and the symphony of heaven! They are going to hear and move into these new garden places.

“Delay has screamed and stolen from their lives, but now I am marking the ground with flourishing and blossoming life. The move of My mighty hand, bringing forth mighty miracles in creative ways, will cause the ground to flourish again; and angelic hosts will guard these places, standing alongside My people with their hearts full of faith in who I am and My faithfulness, trusting that what I have spoken will not be delayed or stolen again.”

God is going to make a way; He is faithful to do what He said (see 1 Cor. 1:9).

“Every dry and barren place will burst forth with abundant blossoms, dancing and spinning with delight” (Isa 35:2, TPT).

“Everyone will say, ‘Come and see the incredible things God has done; it will take your breath away! He multiplies miracles for His people!’ He made a highway going right through the Red Sea as the Hebrews passed through on dry ground, exploding with joyous excitement over the miracles of God” (Ps. 66:5-6, TPT).

What God is doing and going to do—the creative demonstrations of His power to fulfill that which He has spoken to you—is going to take your breath away. He wants to release hope and encouragement to you today to remain in the place of faith, holding on and waging war with your prophetic words, knowing that He does not fail (see 1 Tim. 1:18).

This is a time of victory in seeing what happens when the creative, demonstrative power of God bursts forth as He steps in. It’s time for unprecedented demonstrations of His creative, miraculous power! {eoa}

Kirk Franklin Featured on New ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’ Single

The upcoming Space Jam sequel, set to release in theaters July 16, 2021, includes a faith-infused Gospel track featuring singer-songwriter Kirk Franklin and Atlanta-based rapper Lil’ Baby.

The single “We Win”, released May 21, features Lil’ Baby on the verses, with Franklin jumping in on the choruses, backed by a robust Gospel choir.

Franklin simply wrote, “Tomorrow…” when announcing the new single.

While the song centers around a primary theme of winning together, it also references a few spiritual elements.

Lil’ Baby sings of being called to pray when it “felt like I was cursed” in the first verse, and continues with the reference to prayer later on with Lil’ Baby singing, “Lot of time I was in need of work / Talked to God like I need this to work.”

“Long as I keep puttin’ my faith and trust in God / I know that everything will be fine,” sings Lil’ Baby.

Franklin previously released additional collaboration efforts since his last album in 2019, such as “Millionaire (Good Like That)” with Tauren Wells and “Together” with For King & Country and Tori Kelly. His album, Long, Live, Love, earned two Grammy awards in 2020 for best gospel album and best gospel song.

The upcoming film marks the first theatrically-released film to feature the Looney Tunes characters since Looney Tunes: Back in Action (2003). Like its predecessor, it will be a combination of live-action, traditional hand-drawn 2D animation and 3D CGI effects featuring LeBron James.

A Humble Heart Comes Only Through Healing Hurt and Helping Others Do the Same

In an emotional teaching, Pastor Mike Signorelli of V1 Church has a message for Millennials: the way to rise is through humility. He acknowledges that millennials have gone through trauma, including abuse, church hurt, abandonment and mentors’ failures. Signorelli says that this has caused a generation who knows the Lord to grow cold to the Lord.

Millennials know the truth, yet the combination of past experiences and their access to a social media platform, where they can air their opinions, has created a root of pride when God calls us to humility. Signorelli calls each of them to look at themselves and challenges them with the idea that they have turned into something worse than what hurt them because of this pride.

However, there is hope if we allow God to humble us. He challenges us to go back to a place where we say, “Not my will, but thy will;” to put aside our own agendas and opinions for those of God. Pastor Mike encourages us that we must decrease so that God can increase. We decrease when we come before God solely with a broken and contrite heart, and that is when He can mold us into all that He has called us to be.

Joyce Meyer: Keys to Answered Prayer

When you pray, do you have a vague feeling that something is lacking … that there isn’t any power in your prayers? Do you struggle with doubt or fear, or simply lack confidence that God even hears you at all?

I used to have feelings like this and would think, Maybe I didn’t say the right thing, or pray long enough, or my words weren’t eloquent enough. It was so frustrating because I didn’t want to waste time, wondering if it was doing any good. After I pray, I want to know that God is working and my prayers make a difference.

It’s easy to complicate our relationship with God and think we have to do certain things a certain way for them to be effective. But I’ve discovered that powerful, life-changing, dynamic prayer is amazingly simple!

Two Things We Must Do

It’s vitally important for us to have faith in God when we pray. Hebrews 11:6 (AMPC) says, “Without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].”

Ask yourself, “Do I believe God hears me, that He cares about me and wants to be involved in every area of my life?” If we don’t really believe God loves us and wants to help us, we will struggle to have faith in Him. That’s why knowing and experiencing the love of God is critical to developing a powerful prayer life.

It’s also important to approach God with sincere hearts. James 5:16b says, “The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].” A sincere heart is focused on God, trusting that He hears you and will answer. It doesn’t mean you have to cry or yell to pray with sincerity; it’s all about the attitude of your heart toward God.

You Have to Ask

It’s exciting to get the revelation that God loves us, cares for us and wants to help us. But we have a part to do in getting the things God has for us—we have to ask. James 4:2b says, “…You do not have, because you do not ask.”

Now, it’s important to understand that we have to ask for God’s will to be done, not just for the things we think we want or should have apart from Him. James 4:1 tells us that striving to get what we want based on our carnal or fleshly desires leads to “strife (discord and feuds) … conflicts (quarrels and fightings).” This causes us to be jealous, covet what others have and become angry when we can’t “obtain [the gratification, the contentment, and the happiness” we are seeking (James 4:2).

These verses show us what causes problems in people’s lives. We think we’re unhappy because we don’t have all the stuff we want. But the reality is only God can give us what we’re longing for in our hearts. He alone is the source of righteousness, peace and joy (see Rom. 14:17). And we will never enjoy life until we learn to abide in Him and trust Him to do what’s best for us.

The Key to Praying for God’s Will

If you’re not sure whether you’re asking for God’s will in your life (and we all go through times like this), then you need to take time to just abide in Christ. In John 15:7, Jesus says, “If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.”

To abide means to live, dwell and remain; it’s not just spending time with God on Sunday morning and then going through your week doing what you want apart from Him. God wants to do life with us Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday too! As we spend time studying His Word, meditating on the Word, communicating with Him through prayer and asking Him to fulfill His plans for us, we will know His will in our hearts.

It’s an amazing privilege to be able to talk to God! I want to encourage you to come to Him with humility and ask Him for the desires that are in your heart. Tell Him, “Lord, I don’t want anything You don’t want me to have. So if this is not Your will, don’t give it to Me. I’m trusting You and want You to be in control of my life.” Pray about everything that’s on your heart, and keep it simple. Remember, prayer is simply talking to God, and you can pray anytime, anywhere, all day long … and He will answer. {eoa}

Prophetic Word: The Lord Says, ‘I Am Rebooting Your Love Walk’

At the start of the month, I asked the Lord what He had in mind for May, and this is what He said:

“In May, I am rebooting your ‘love walk.’ Your love has grown cold in many areas compared to the way I desire for My love to burn in you. You have been too exhausted to love well, but now that I have rebooted your soul and spirit through some measure of rest and refreshing, it’s time for Me to reboot your love walk also.

“Think not that your time of rest and refreshing is over; it is not. In reality, it has only begun. It may take several years for you to learn the new rhythms of a life that is based in My rest, but this month, I will reinforce your foundations, beginning with your love walk. It is time for you to become lovesick for Me again.

“Read Psalm 119 this month and pray through it. It is the lovesick prayer of a hungry man, the prayer of My servant David. Allow the words of this psalm to saturate your soul. These words are My words that I put in David’s mouth to pray and express himself, and they will you help you express yourself too. This is the psalm of the month.”

Concentrate on Your Foundations

“May is a month of foundations. Concentrate on your foundations this month:

— “Become revitalized in your seeking of Me.

— “Ask Me to help you hunger and thirst after My Word again.

— “Ask Me to make you a person of prayer, of the Word, of fasting this month.

— “Ask Me for grace to fast and fast well when you feel led to fast.

—”Ask Me for help with everything; I will not fail you or let you down!”

Speak Words of Big Faith

“You will see the declarations that you have been speaking begin to take root and grow this month. You have been speaking the Word diligently over your situation, and by doing so, you have brought blessing upon yourself. Trust in Me and in the ability of My Word to manifest blessings in your life. Continue speaking big words over your life in May.

“If you’re going to speak, you might as well speak words of big faith. It takes the same energy to speak a word, whether it is a word of faith or a word of doubt and unbelief. So if you are to expend energy, why not make every word that comes out of your mouth into a building tool to build the big life you desire?

“Don’t cast your pearls before swine this month or any month (not all people can understand), but continue speaking big words of blessing and hope for your future. Proclaim them loudly so that all can hear, and I will give you rest in the field of My blessing that I will bestow upon you in response to My Word.”

Ask Me

“Always pray for Me to rebuke the devourer. You are at a new level of intimacy with Me and a new level of blessing. The enemy would love to rob you of your blessing, but he cannot if I rebuke him. Continually ask Me to rebuke the devourer for your sake, and I will.

“Ask Me to show you things that you cannot ask or think this month. Eye has not seen nor ear heard the things I have prepared for you in the month of May. You will receive these things if you ask Me for them. It is just that simple.”

Saving the Best for Last

“I love you, My child. Think not that I do not love you because I have taken My time to answer some things. You have been hidden like an arrow in My quiver (Isa. 49), but I will take you out of My hiding place and propel you forward when I deem the time is right. I always save the best for last, though, so you can be assured that the things in front of you will be greater than all the things behind you.

“You can also rest assured that I have not forgotten even one of your dreams. I feel the burning of your heart and your wondering at My waiting period. I know you feel distressed in your spirit right now, but I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Ask Me to show you a sign for good, and I will. I am working in the situation even now.”

Don’t Worry or Fear—Just Seek Me!

“Those things that eye has not seen and ear has not heard are laid up for you this month. I have kept some things back that you will need in this moment; I will give them to you at the right time. I am He who equips you for battle, and I will never let you move forward without the tools you need. Do not worry or fear; I will help you!” says the Lord.

He continued: “You have been worried over many things, but only one thing is needful. Only seek Me. Return to your simple faith—the faith you had before you started trying to figure it all out. Seek Me in the morning and in the evening. Praise Me in your coming and in your going, and all will be fulfilled. I will supply all your needs this month and every month.

“I know it feels uncomfortable sometimes, but I am with you always, even to the end of the world. Do not think that I have abandoned you; far be it from Me to do such a thing! I have not abandoned you and never will. You have also been feeling like others have abandoned you, but I am your source of comfort, encouragement and fulfillment.

“Seek Me, My child. Come back to the foundations and shore them up. Walk in simple, lovesick hunger and adoration with Me—and I did say ‘with Me,’ for I am as lovesick for you as I desire you to be toward Me.

“I love you so much, My child. Ask Me to demonstrate My love in new ways today, for you need to see it. Ask Me for My comfort and encouragement today, for you need them both. I will help you if you ask.” {eoa}

Deliverance from the ‘Dead Man’ Spirit

I love casting out devils, and I recently encountered one I didn’t know existed.

It’s called the “dead man” spirit, and many people may be hosting it without knowing it.

If things are going wrong in your life and you’re experiencing manifestations of death, such as death in relationships, death of dreams or massive warfare, this could be the answer. {eoa}
