February 24 marks one year since the Russian army invaded Ukraine along multiple fronts.

While the fog of war makes it difficult to know exact numbers, it is estimated that more than 30,000 Ukrainian civilians—mostly women, children and the elderly—have been killed, mostly due to Russia’s bombing campaign that continues to rain terror across the entire nation. (The real number is likely much higher.) On the battlefield, as many as 200,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded, and as many as 120,000 Ukrainian fighters. Only God knows the true numbers.

Such statistics, however, cannot begin to calculate the grim toll the war has taken. More than 18 million Ukrainians have fled the country since the first bombs dropped last winter (while 10 million have since returned). The war has shuffled national alliances, shaken stock markets, starved Europe of oil and gas and exacerbated food shortages in poverty-stricken parts of Africa. Within Ukraine, more than 1,000 schools have been destroyed while more than 40% of the nation’s power grid has been damaged.

This week the war in Ukraine has once again risen to the top of the news cycle—with President Biden’s visit to Kyiv, Putin’s defiant speech to the Russian people, and the one-year mark of Russia’s invasion. As such, the war is on the minds of many Christians. And so it begs the question: What would God have us do about a war taking place halfway around the world?

To help answer that question I turned to Valentyn Korenevych, professor at Irpin Seminary (just outside Kyiv), pastor at Way of Truth Church and president of Olive Branch Ukraine, one of the nation’s largest war chaplain ministries. Korenevych is not only on the ground as events unfold in Ukraine, but he’s arguably one of the few Christians who has served as an officer in both the Soviet Army (1981-1991), and then after the fall of the USSR, the Ukrainian military (during which time he and his wife, Marina, became Christians).

Korenevych sees a stark difference between what he describes as a unified spirit present throughout Ukraine compared to what is happening in Russia. His 10 years as a logistics officer in the Soviet Army gives him rare insight into the structure and mindset of Russia’s invasion in Ukraine.

“The Soviet Army and the Russian Army are the same. It is the same spirit today that drove communism 30 years ago,” he says. “There are thousands of officers in the Russian Army today who are just like I used to be. It is not a godly structure.”

As a leader of scores of war chaplains serving Ukraine’s fighting men and women, Korenevych has seen Jesus show up in the frontline trenches. “Many soldiers will ask a chaplain to just sit with them during their night watch,” the colonel adds. “Everywhere we go along the frontlines of Ukraine the men and women soldiers say that there is this unique, unifying spirit that they can’t explain. We can then say that what they are sensing are the prayers of believers in Ukraine and around the world.”

“I think God wants to achieve several goals through this war,” he adds. “The first is to motivate His people to pray and to prepare for the Second Coming of Christ. We live in a time when the antichrist will come from one side, and God is preparing us for this. But from the other side, God prepares something opposite. God’s other goal in this war is destroy the antichrist spirit in Moscow and even in Ukraine, where many people still have a Soviet world mentality,” he says.

While Korenevych is quick to point out that God loves the Russian people, he encourages Americans to be aware of the oppressive spirit animating many in the Kremlin. He adds that we must pray to “destroy satanic narratives in people’s minds.”

As we reach the one-year mark of the largest and most devastating land war in 80 years, let us pray that the peace of Jerusalem would descend upon Ukraine. Korenevych adds, “That is my prayer during these difficult days of war, and for whatever comes after.”

The Biden administration is reportedly considering declaring a public health emergency on abortion in an effort to expand nationwide access to the procedure.

Since the U.S. Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v Wade, many states have enacted laws banning abortions after a certain point in the pregnancy.

President Joe Biden has vowed to do everything he can to protect access to abortion nationwide and this declaration may go directly after states with pro-life laws on the books.

Axios confirmed Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra is mulling different options to expand abortion access, including declaring a public health emergency on abortion.

“A public health emergency is supposed to be declared so you can save lives and in this case, they want to declare one to end life,” Students for Life of America’s Kristi Hamrick told CBN News.

A public health emergency declaration on abortion could potentially open up federal funding for women who need to travel out of state to get an abortion and it could make abortion medication more widely available.

“To think that you can crush state laws, suppress the voices of people so that you can end more life in the womb—it’s an extraordinary overreach,” Hamrick noted.

The Biden administration has said in the past this did not “seem like a great option,” but Becerra confirmed to Axios that the HHS is doing “an evaluation” on abortion to see if they think an emergency declaration is needed.

“I find it just absolutely confounding to think that protecting life could be declared a National Health emergency,” Virginia Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin told CBN News.

Youngkin told CBN News he’s astounded this is being considered.

“There is a moment here for us as Americans to step back and recognize the extremism on display here,” said Youngkin. “It’s the same extremism that we saw on the floor of the General Assembly in Virginia when they were pressing to provide on-demand abortion all the way up through and including birth, paid for by taxpayer money. This is not representative of America.” {eoa}

Israeli scientists at Ben Gurion University of the Negev have proposed a new approach for treating Alzheimer’s disease by targeting its metabolic components.

Several research groups at the university have been working on solutions to address aspects of metabolic function and to identify how its dysfunction relates to immune response, inflammation and ultimately cell death.

One recent proposal targets the voltage-dependent anion channel-1 (VDAC1), which is the mitochondrial gatekeeper, controlling mitochondrial activity and cell death.

Life Sciences Prof. Varda Shoshan-Barmatz leads a research team which showed that an increase in the amount of VDAC1 protein in the cell leads to cell death and an immune response.

While protein VDAC1’s role in heart disease, intestinal disease and autoimmune diseases was already known, the team discovered that the protein was also present, in large amounts, in the brain of a mouse model for Alzheimer’s disease.

Shoshan-Barmatz developed a small molecule, VBIT-4, that binds to VDAC1 and able to prevent many of the pathophysiological changes associated with Alzheimer’s.

VBIT-4 is able to pass the blood-brain barrier and was able to prevent neuronal cell death, neuro-inflammation and neuro-metabolic dysfunctions associated with Alzheimer’s disease.

Another research group at Ben Gurion is also working on a metabolic aspect of Alzheimer’s.

Dr. Debra Toiber is leading research focused on a protein called SIRT6, which helps maintain proper the function of mitochondria. Its absence leads to many characteristics of neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s.

In the past few years, Israeli researchers have been at the forefront of many recent findings on Alzheimer’s disease and have released a variety of Alzheimer’s studies and proposed treatments.

Alzheimer’s disease is a form of dementia. The disease was first described by the German researchers Alois Alzheimer and Emil Kraepelin. The number of people affected by the disease is projected to reach 135 million by 2050. {eoa}

As reported by The Daily Wire, “Kohrs spent her Tuesday evening giggling up a storm on CNN. While she avoided naming who exactly could be recommended for indictment, she seems to have provided more information than would be considered legally prudent.

“First of all, why is this person talking on TV, I do not understand,” Anderson Cooper asked former federal prosecutor Elie Honig on his nightly television show. “Because she’s clearly enjoying herself, but I mean, is this responsible? She was the foreperson of this grand jury!

“This is a horrible idea, and I guarantee you that prosecutors are wincing, watching her go on this,” Honig responded.

“I was wincing just watching her eagerness to like, hint at stuff,” Cooper responded.

With so much attention on Kohrs, it was inevitable people would scour her social media footprint to see who this person is that could indict a former president.

While it is unknown who originally found her Pinterest account, Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk shared the disturbing results of the search on his Twitter account.

So why is a figure like Donald Trump the focus of so much spiritual warfare?

Because he was the most powerful man on the planet, and his actions spoke louder than his frequently crass words.

No president in U.S. history was as supportive as Donald Trump when it came to Israel. The Abrahamic Covenant is still in place and there is a blessing upon Israel as well as those who bless her.

With a world leader crediting God for America’s greatness and standing up against the globalist agenda, Donald Trump, in all his imperfections, stood against the plans of the enemy.

This will make anyone the target of spiritual attack, to have curses spoken over and principalities rallied against them and their families.

Christian leaders across the country have been sounding the alarm on the influence of the occult and witchcraft flooding American society.

Pastor Greg Locke of Global Vision Bible Church in Mount Juliet, Tennessee, has been sounding the alarm on witchcraft taking place in America for some time now. He is working in the deliverance movement with members of the Demon Slayers Podcast and even made a movie showing the true side of deliverance.

It’s not a Donald Trump, Joe Biden, Emily Kohrs or Greg Locke issue at the heart of it. It is the very fabric of the war between good and evil, light and darkness.

Shane Idleman could not stay silent.

In an impassioned plea to the Westside Union School District Board of Education Tuesday night, the spirit-filled Senior Pastor of Westside Christian Fellowship in Leona, California, asked the school board to reconsider their allowance of a book titled “Born Ready: The True Story of a Boy Named Penelope,” to be taught to the children of that district. Apparently, it has become part of the curriculum.

The book was written by activist and Chair of the Human Rights Campaign Foundation Board, Jodie Patterson. In the book she shares her transgender son’s experience about “identity and acceptance,” reads the book description on the website of the publisher Penguin Random House. Penguin Random House also publishes Christian books, including one from actress Roma Downey titled “Be An Angel.”

The book’s description on Amazon reads: “Penelope knows that he’s a boy. (And a ninja.) The problem is getting everyone else to realize it. … Penelope’s experiences show children that it always makes you stronger when you are true to yourself and who you really are.

Idleman wonders how the school district in good conscience can allow the book to be taught to elementary school children.

“What they are promoting is that a little child can understand that they can change their sex. And, the school district, by allowing the book in classrooms, are actually encouraging it,” Idleman said in an exclusive interview with Charisma News. “How can a five-year-old determine that? It’s pretty frustrating.”

Since circulating the video on Rumble late Tuesday night, Idleman says he and his church office have been inundated by emails and phone calls. But, he says, it is “not anything beyond the scope of what we can handle.”

Prior to Idleman speaking, he said there was much heated “vitriol” about the book from members of the audience. Idleman says it was about a 50-50 split, for and against.

Some on the pro side of the book said that others were spouting “hate speech.”

In his three-minute speech before the school board, Idleman said that “when people speak the truth in love, it’s not hate speech.” He spoke without interruption, which he considered a minor miracle within itself.

Idleman also gave the school board a stern rebuke to stand up to the state of California’s views and ideals, which many would consider beyond liberal.

“Legal is not always lawful,” Idleman says. “Just because something is legal, it doesn’t mean it’s lawful. Somebody here can stand up to the state of California and say, ‘this is not right.’ We can murder children in the woman and we call that legal, but we know it’s not right.

“Public school systems were founded to teach the Word of God. Now, I know you have to be careful in this area, but you can oppose what California is pushing. I don’t think this should be allowed in schools. What this is, it’s actually a form of child abuse. It’s mental, emotional child abuse. This is not good for kids.

“I counsel kids. We’ve buried kids who overdosed on fentanyl and heroin, kids that have cut themselves. You won’t take that pain away because they need hope, not capitulation. Are you’re doing is you’re giving in to something that will not help them.”

Idleman warned the school board to reconsider the use of Patterson’s book in the classroom because it will affect the future direction of the school district.

“Just think, is this something that going to help kids or hurt them,” Idleman said. “It is a very strong topic, and it demands a very strong challenge, a very strong rebuke. That’s why I’m here.

“I know you have a hard job, trust me. I’ve got a lot of enemies myself. But someone needs to stand up and say this is not right, we cannot allow this in our schools. Yes, it might cost you some friends, but times change and truth does not.” {eoa}

One of the cities affected by the Turkey earthquake holds biblical significance. Antioch played a prominent role in the life of the apostle Paul, and it also served as a foundation of the early Church.

According to the New Testament Book of Acts, it was in Antioch that followers of Jesus were first called Christians. The city was devastated by the February 6th earthquake.

Like many cities and towns throughout this region, Antioch took a particularly hard hit.

CBN News visited the destroyed house of a pastor and his wife in Antioch. Nearby, the buildings of their beloved neighbors stood. Many of the neighbors didn’t survive the earthquake and others were relocated away from their leveled homes, so the pastor’s family lost the ones they had been serving and sharing about the love of Jesus for many years.

Turkish pastor Elmas Akin told us about that terrifying night.

“I just can’t find the words to describe it and I don’t think you can really understand what happened at that time,” she said. “There was a deep noise from the ground and it wasn’t ending and it was a long time. Both my husband and I just looked at each other and hugged each other and we started praying.”

They expected to die.

Instead, they rushed outside.

“And then when we came out and completely outside and I looked and I realized that all these buildings were collapsed and that was so painful because this has been our ministry to our neighbors,” Elmas said.

For years, she ministered to about 50 neighborhood children, teaching them the Bible.

“They know me as their Aunt Elmas, sometimes Mother Elmas, because we’ve been having them at church and playing games, sharing the Gospel for many, many years. They grew up in our own hands, so to speak,” she recalled.

She cried as she said, “And now they are all gone now. I’ve lost all of them. Some of them died and some of them are just spread around the country or medical help or they can’t live here anymore or they have moved to other cities and I’ve lost them all.”

The culture wars in countries across the world have shifted morality in directions formerly thought impossible. To hold onto biblically based morals and ethics is now considered “problematic” and “controversial.”

Now, as Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has announced her resignation, the opportunity for an evangelical Christian taking her place has become a reality.

As reported by the BBC, “Ms. Sturgeon insisted her resignation was not in response to the ‘latest period of pressure,’ which has included controversies over gender reforms, trans prisoners and the strategy on independence.”

“Since the very first moment in the job, I have believed that part of serving well would be to know, almost instinctively, when the time is right to make way for someone else,” Sturgeon said.

“And when that time came, to have the courage to do so, even if many across the country, and in my party, might feel it too soon.

“In my head and in my heart, I know that time is now. That it is right for me, for my party and for the country.

“And so today I am announcing my intention to step down as first minister and leader of my party.”

Scotland now has a chance to right the destructive progressive policies that have been passed under the leadership of Sturgeon.

As 32-year-old Kate Forbes is finding out, when an evangelical Christian announces they are running for a position of power in government, the fiery darts of the enemy begins seeking them out.

The Christian Post reports that, “Kate Forbes, a member of the Scottish Parliament representing Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, who also serves as the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Economy, launched a campaign to succeed Sturgeon Monday.”

Forbes holds to biblical values and morality, which the British media have used to paint her as unelectable and a problem.

While Forbes says she would not have voted for legalizing same-sex marriage had she been in government at the time it was voted on, she would uphold the law as it is written as First Minister.

Talking with the BBC, Forbes “went on to insist that as a ‘servant of democracy’ she would defend the legal right to gay marriage ‘to the hilt,’ even though she would have voted against the bill which codified that right had she been an MSP in 2014.”

By taking a stand against abortion and same-sex marriage, Forbes’ opponents, who look to remove faith from the public square, take up the now familiar kneejerk reaction to consider her ‘unelectable.’ Hostility toward people of faith in government has only increased in the last decade, such as the falsified claims made against U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brent Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearings.

Being guilty unless proven innocent has become the norm, and the media is more than willing to push false narratives without corroborating evidence.

Yet Christians do not have to sit on the sideline and allow principalities to dictate the direction of society.

Believers in the West can vote in public servants who hold fast to biblical standards bringing forth periods of prosperity and honor to God.

It says in Proverbs 29:2, “When the righteous [a]are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.”

People are groaning about their hardships across the world. Times are difficult for many, even as the Lord provides for His followers. But it does not have to be this way.

Coming before the Lord with repentant hearts and putting faith into action, a new generation of righteous leaders can walk the halls of government and bring with them the blessing of God. {eoa}

The Church of England may have voted earlier this year to offer blessings to same-sex couples, but the Anglican Church is having none of it.

Fox News reported that Anglican leaders are rejecting the leadership of Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, drafting a letter that was signed by archbishops from 10 of the 42 provinces of the global Anglican Communion, all of which represent conservative provinces. Most of those are in Africa and Asia and believe that homosexuality goes against the Bible.

“The Church of England has chosen to break communion with those provinces who remain faithful to the historical biblical faith,” the statement from members of the Global South Fellowship of Anglican Churches read.

The conservative archbishops adamantly proclaimed that the Church of England, “has departed from the historic faith passed down from the apostles by this innovation in the liturgies of the church and her pastoral practice,” and it has drifted into “false teaching.”

The letter states that, therefore, the Church of England is “disqualified” from being the leader of global Anglicanism.

The letter was signed by GSFA chair Archbishop Justin Badi of South Sudan, along with the archbishops of Chile, the Indian Ocean, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Uganda, Sudan, Alexandria and Melanesia.

The Church of England, which recently declared that same-sex couples cannot marry but they will “receive God’s blessings,” is now looking into the use of gender-neural terms to refer to God in prayers, including changing Matthew 6:9-13 to exclude the words “Our Father.”

Which means the Church of England is tampering with the Bible.

In Revelation 22:18-19, it reads: “I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God shall add to him the plagues that are written in this book. And if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the Book of Life and out of the Holy City and out of the things which are written in this book.”

The conservative archbishops’ letter goes on to say that Anglican officials were “no longer able to recognize the present Archbishop of Canterbury (Welby) as the first among equals leader of the global communion.”

In 2018, Charisma News reported that the Church of England began to encourage gays, lesbians and transgender people to become priests.

Fox Digital News reported in late November that the number of Christians in England and Wales has dipped below half of the population for the first time in census history, according to government statistics released Tuesday.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) found that 46.2% of the English and Welsh population, or roughly 27.5 million people, labeled themselves as “Christian” in 2021. {eoa}
