Morning Rundown: Man Who Spent 23 Minutes in Hell: ‘Not Everyone Goes to Heaven’

Here’s a quick summary of the top stories on cn.mycharisma.com:

Man Who Spent 23 Minutes in Hell: ‘Not Everyone Goes to Heaven’

Bill Wiese, the author of the New York Times best-selling book “23 Minutes in Hell,” has a staunch warning for universalists who believe everyone will go to heaven.

“These people fail to realize that God is a God of justice and judgment,” Wiese says. “They say God is love, and that He would never allow such suffering, for people to go to hell. Believe everyone gets a free pass. The Universalist tries to support their beliefs with Scripture, but I’m here to tell you that the Universalist teaching is false and heretical.”

Wiese refers to British evangelist John Blanchard’s book, “Hell on Trial,” to explain the origin of universalism.

Holy Spirit Moves at AG University in Pennsylvania

The University of Valley Forge, an Assemblies of God institution in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, has a storied and miraculous history.

In 2013, Charisma Media Founder Stephen Strang reported Valley Forge, founded in 1939, won a Supreme Court case in 1978 that allowed it to keep its beautiful 106-acre campus, and it has been churning out godly community leaders since its founding in 1939.

And now, Valley Forge has joined the growing list of universities, high schools, grade schools and churches where the Holy Spirit has overwhelmed these campus and where nationwide revival—if not an awakening—is becoming more and more evident each day. It all started with Asbury University nearly three weeks and, the fire is spreading.

The Hallmarks of the Asbury Awakening and What Comes Next

new cm coverimageHumble repentance before the Father. Passion to worship Jesus. Hunger for God’s Word. The peaceful presence of the Holy Spirit. The hallmarks of the Asbury Awakening.

On Thursday night, during the final public event of this outpouring at Asbury University, broadcast directly from the school’s auditorium, those hallmarks were all on display as students publicly shared life-changing Scripture verses, worshipped with all their might, prayed fervently and received the commission to go out into the world to spread the Good News of the kingdom of heaven.

So many sovereign God-incidences have been evident throughout this awakening. From the 1970 Asbury Revival connection, to the release of a Jesus Revolution movie that had been in the works for years, to the coincidence with the Collegiate Day of Prayer, no earthly power could have timed it all so perfectly. {eoa}

Does Bible Prophecy Say Earthquakes Far Worse Than Those in Turkey, Syria, Are Coming? Yes, and Israel Isn’t Ready

Are earthquakes—massive, deadly and destructive—signs of the End Times?

Are they part of the “birth pangs” of what Jesus spoke?

And does Bible prophecy say the worst is yet to come?

In light of the horrific quakes that just hit Turkey and Syria and left more than 100,000 people dead and wounded—and millions without homes—these were the questions we tackled on THE ROSENBERG REPORT last week.

To set the context let me take you back to 2006. That’s the year I wrote my first non-fiction book, EPICENTER: Why The Current Rumblings in the Middle East Will Change Your World.

I laid out 10 specific headlines that the world would one day read.

Chapter 11 was called, “FUTURE HEADLINE: New War Erupts in Middle East As Earthquakes, Pandemics Hit Europe, Africa, Asia.”

That was 12 years ago, and sure enough these are headlines we’ve been reading ever since.

To be clear: I’m not a prophet, a psychic, or a “modern Nostradamus.” I don’t have any unique ability within myself to see the future.

Rather, as I explained in EPICENTER, I’m writing about what God says is coming.

Bible prophecy is an intercept from the mind of the all-knowing, all-powerful, all-sovereign God of the universe.

God doesn’t tell us everything He is going to do—or all He is going to sovereignly allow Satan to do—in all countries and all regions of the world at all times in history.

But He does tell us some of the things that are going to happen in some countries and some regions at some periods of time in the future.

Unfortunately, too many Christians ignore Bible prophecy.

But I take it seriously.

And when I write books about prophecy, or teach about it, I encourage people to study the Scriptures carefully, take the prophecies literally and consider how to walk with Christ more faithfully in light of what God says is coming.

WHAT DOES THE NEW TESTAMENT SAY ABOUT EARTHQUAKES—AND WHAT ARE WE SEEING HAPPEN IN OUR TIMES?

In the New Testament, for example, Lord Jesus warned His disciples that in the “last days” terrible wars, earthquakes, and infectious plagues and diseases would spread across the globe, just to name a few of the “signs” – the “birth pangs” – that Jesus said would precede His Second Coming.

In Luke chapter 21, for example, our Messiah prophesied that “when you hear of wars and disturbances, do not be terrified; for these things must take place first, but the end does not follow immediately. Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be great earthquakes, and in various places plagues and famines; and there will be terrors and great signs from heaven” (Luke 21:0-11).

When I wrote EPICENTER based on this and related prophecies, many critics and skeptics called me loony. One anchor on CNN called me the “Mayor of Crazy Town.”

But just look at what’s happened since 2006. Not only did we see the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq intensify and devastate the Middle East, we saw the rise of the Islamic State—and its genocide against Christians—and then the war to destroy ISIS and dismantle its Caliphate.

Last year, Russia launched the biggest land war in Europe since World War II. More than 200,000 people are dead. And now, Vladimir Putin is poised to escalate. He’s massing more than a quarter of a million additional troops on the borders of Ukraine and threatening to use nuclear weapons.

Meanwhile, in 2020, we saw Communist China unleash the Wuhan virus—the COVID pandemic—the deadliest plague in a century, killing nearly 7 million people.

Also since 2006, we’ve seen one horrific earthquake after another strike around the world, including those in Turkey and Syria just last week, the deadliest series of earthquakes to hit the Middle East in nearly 100 years.

The images are heart-wrenching.

Death. Destruction. Shrieking, orphaned babies. Shattered, despondent parents.

The initial quake registered 7.8 on the Richter scale.

Then came two more quakes, nearly as bad.

These were followed by dozens of aftershocks.

Witnesses in Turkey told reporters it “felt like the apocalypse.”

An aid worker in Syria’s war-ravaged city of Aleppo told the BBC,

“We were in hell before the earthquake—we’re now in the deepest level of hell.”

The U.S. has sent billions of dollars’ worth of rescue equipment, tents, blankets, medicine, clothing, and other emergency assistance, as have other governments.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu—whose government has worked hard in recent months to reconcile relations with Turkey—immediately sent nearly 400 rescue workers, doctors, nurses and other emergency response specialists to help the Turkish government deal with the crisis.

CHRISTIANS ARE MINISTERING TO THOSE DEVASTATED BY THE QUAKES

Christian ministries are also providing desperately needed aid.

Franklin Graham’s ministry—Samaritan’s Purse—immediately sent an Evangelical Christian medical team and a mobile field hospital to Turkey.

A man who runs an Evangelical ministry in Turkey told Christianity Today magazine that Christian doctors and engineers have rushed to the frontlines, eager to love their neighbors and care for those who are suffering, just as Christ commanded.

“This is the test of the church,” he said. “And I’m proud of my brothers and sisters in Christ.”

Amen—I’m also encouraged by how the Church is responding.

WHAT IS THE BIGGER PICTURE?

At the same time, we need to see the bigger picture.

These earthquakes are not simply tragedies—they’re End Times prophecies coming to pass, and we need to prepare ourselves because far worse is coming.

Now, some of you watching may be skeptics, thinking, ”Joel, come on, these earthquakes were terrible—yes—but you’re blowing them out of proportion. They’re not prophetic. They’re not a fulfillment of Bible passages, telling people to watch for earthquakes to become more numerous and more catastrophic as the world approaches ‘the return of Jesus Christ.’ Don’t be ridiculous, Joel. These quakes are just random acts of nature.”

I hear you, but look at the facts.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, 19 of the 20 biggest earthquakes in human history have occurred since 1900.

In fact, the U.S. government says the world is now experiencing some 20,000 earthquakes a year, or about 55 a day.

Given increasing urbanization around the globe—the fact that more and more people are leaving the countryside, moving into big cities to find work, and thus becoming so concentrated in big cities—even less “intense” quakes can now do horrific damage.

Take the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, for example.

It “only” registered 7.0 on the Richter scale.

That’s why it’s not in the top five, top 10 or even the top 100 most intense earthquakes in history.

Yet it was the deadliest earthquake in nearly 500 years—and one of the deadliest in all of recorded history—killing more than 300,000 people.

Look, I know it’s not popular to say this—but I have to say it—and you need to hear it.

We are seeing more earthquakes than ever before in human history, with greater frequency, horrific destruction and massive casualties.

YES, THE WORST IS YET TO COME

Unfortunately, Bible prophecy tells us that far, far worse is coming.

One such prophecy is found in the Old Testament, in the book of Ezekiel.

The other is found in the New Testament, in the book of Revelation.

Let’s start with Ezekiel, chapters 38 and 39, where the Hebrew prophet describes an eschatological conflict known as the “War of Gog and Magog.”

Ezekiel explains that in the “last days,” an evil dictator will rise to power in a region known in Bible times as “Magog” and today known as the Russian Federation.

This dictator forms a military and political alliance with Persia, the country we know today as Iran.

Together, they recruit Turkey, Libya, Sudan and a range of other countries into their alliance.

Then, they order their military forces to surround, invade and conquer the prophetically revived and reborn State of Israel.

And yet, the Hebrew prophet Ezekiel—writing more than 2,500 years ago—does not describe the Israeli military defending the Jewish people.

Nor does Ezekiel describe other countries coming to Israel’s defense.

Instead, just as Israel is about to swallowed whole by this Russian-Iranian alliance, Ezekiel tells us that the God of Israel moves supernaturally to judge and destroy Israel’s enemies, with the whole world watching.

Ezekiel 38:18-20 indicates that “on that day, when Gog comes against the land of Israel,” the Lord God says, “My fury will mount up in My anger. In My zeal and in My blazing wrath, I declare that on that day there will surely be a great earthquake in the land of Israel. The fish of the sea, the birds of the heavens, the beasts of the field, all the creeping things that creep on the earth and all the men who are on the face of the earth will shake at My presence.”

The earthquake’s epicenter will be in Israel, but its shock waves will be felt around the world, and that’s just the beginning of the judgment.

“I will call for a sword against him on all My mountains,” declares the Lord God in Ezekiel 38:21. “Every man’s sword will be against his brother.”

In other words, in the ensuing chaos, the enemy forces will begin fighting each other.

Then, in verse 22, God says: “With pestilence and with blood I will enter into judgment with him”—that is, against the Russian dictator known as Gog. “And I will rain on him and on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, a torrential rain, with hailstones, fire and brimstone.”

When it’s all over, Ezekiel tells us the devastation is so catastrophic that it will take seven months to bury all the bodies—and that it would take longer but “the birds of the air and the beasts of the field” will eat most of the bodies of the enemies.

It’s a grim scene—and the most dramatic judgment of God upon mankind since the days of the exodus out of Egypt when the 10 plagues fell upon the Pharaoh and his people.

Now, let’s go back to the earthquake.

God tells Ezekiel that “the mountains…will be thrown down, the steep pathways will collapse and every wall will fall to the ground” (Ezekiel 38:20)

Does that mean that literally every wall on the planet will fall?

Or just that every wall in Israel and the Middle East will fall?

Does the prophecy mean that literally every person on the planet will be physically shaken?

Or does it mean that the destruction will be so great throughout the Middle East that everyone on earth will be emotionally shaken by fear, higher gas and oil prices and by other less physical but no less powerful forces?

I’ll let you chew on that and we’ll discuss it further on a future show and a future column.

But at the very minimum, it’s clear that a massive, devastating and apocalyptic earthquake is coming, far worse than anything the world has seen before.

And Israeli officials admit, they are woefully unprepared for future quakes.

WHAT DOES THE BOOK OF REVELATION SAY ABOUT FUTURE EARTHQUAKES?

The final book of the Bible speaks of an earthquake even worse in the End Times.

The apostle John writes, “I looked when He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood; and the stars of the sky fell to the earth, as a fig tree casts its unripe figs when shaken by a great wind. The sky was split apart like a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains; and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; for the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?'” (Rev. 16:12-17).

In the same chapter, the apostle tells us that one out of every four people on the planet will die during this time of judgment, known as the “Great Tribulation.”

If it happens in our lifetime, that would mean that upwards of 2 billion people will perish because they’ve repeatedly and callously rejected—and kept rejecting—God, His Word, His ways and His Messiah.

IS THERE ANY HOPE?

These are sobering prophecies—we ignore them at our peril—but there is hope.

Let’s start by asking two questions.

First, why does God send earthquakes?

Second, is there any hope?

The answers are interconnected.

God says through the Hebrew prophet Haggai, “For this is what the Lord of armies says: ‘Once more in a little while, I am going to shake the heavens and the earth, the sea also and the dry land. I will shake all the nations'” (Hag. 2:6-7).

Then God speaks through the Hebrew prophet Amos, “For behold, I am commanding, and I will shake the house of Israel among all nations” (Amos 9:9).

God, in His mercy, vows to shake every nation. Why? To get people’s attention, to persuade them to let go of every religion, philosophy or ideology other than faith in the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ to save them.

There are lots of examples in scripture, but here’s one.

Remember what God did in the book of Acts?

“[A]bout midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them; and suddenly there came a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison house were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were unfastened. When the jailer awoke and saw the prison doors opened, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped. But Paul cried out with a loud voice, saying, ‘Do not harm yourself, for we are all here!’ And he called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas, and after he brought them out, he said, ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ They said, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.’ And they spoke the Word of the Lord to him together with all who were in his house. And he took them that very hour of the night and washed their wounds, and immediately he was baptized, he and all his household” (Acts 16:25-34).

This is one reason God sends earthquakes—to wake people up and draw them to Christ.

But there is a second reason: God also sends earthquakes to judge those who reject Him and stubbornly refuse to repent.

God told the prophet Isaiah, “Thus I will punish the world for its evil and the wicked for their iniquity….Therefore, I will make the heavens tremble, and the earth will be shaken from its place at the fury of the Lord of hosts in the day of His burning anger” (Isa. 13:11-13).

And Isaiah also wrote, “From the Lord of hosts you will be punished with thunder and earthquake and loud noise, with whirlwind and tempest and the flame of a consuming fire” (Isa. 29:6).

Judgment? Yes.

But also mercy.

This is why God sends earthquakes.

And the Scriptures are crystal clear—yes, there’s hope in this broken, chaotic world.

Every man, woman and child on earth has the opportunity right now to be adopted by God into His royal family, to have their sins forgiven and to spend eternity with God and with all believers.

As Jesus said, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

But that hope is only available until we breathe our last breath on this earth—or until Christ actually comes back to judge the living and the dead.

new cm coverimageSo, as we experience one “birth pang” after another warning us that we are living in the “last days,” I encourage, today is the Day of Salvation.

Right now—not later—is the time to get right with God. {eoa}

ISIS is Back and Looking for Revenge Against Christians Following Quran Burnings

If you thought the Islamic State terror group had gone away, think again. Despite military defeat in Syria and Iraq, ISIS still has thousands of fighters with 25 affiliate groups around the world.

Now, western intelligence agencies are bracing for terror attacks after the group called for revenge against Christians. They’re angry after a Danish activist publicly burned a Quran in Sweden last month.

Protests erupted throughout the Islamic world after that Quran burning. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said while the burning was deeply disrespectful, it was protected under freedom of expression.

The Islamic State is pushing for payback on social media. The Muslim holy month of Ramadan begins March 23rd and last year’s observance saw 42 ISIS terror attacks in just three days.

The threat from ISIS is as real as ever, and intelligence agencies are on the lookout.

Security expert Eric Caron says that in the Middle East and Asia, ISIS never went away.

“They have approximately 16,000 fighters between Iraq and Syria. They control 6 million people in that region. They have franchises throughout the world. We’re talking probably around 25 franchises throughout Africa and Europe,” Caron says.

A recent United Nations report also shows the ISIS threat increasing. Africa has been called the world’s fastest-growing terrorist hotspot.

Terrorism expert and retired U.S. Army Colonel Sargis Sangari says while the U.S. had to defeat ISIS on the battlefield, that alone wasn’t enough to stop the movement.

“Look, you have to kill folks on the battlefield to take ground. But I don’t think we ever fought against the ideas that really resonate between the six inches of people’s foreheads,” Sangari said. “So, (ISIS) will continue to fight and will continue to take territory. It will continue to force individuals to convert or basically, die in the process.” {eoa}

Another Prominent Pastor Censored Off Of YouTube

Calvary Chapel Chino Hills Pastor Jack Hibbs, took to Twitter to post an urgent message to his congregants and followers. In his video he starts, “It has happened…they don’t want Bible and they don’t want truth so they nailed us.”

Feb. 23rd Hibbs and his team found out YouTube had completely wiped his channel off their platform. The reason why? They were told copyright infringement violations. Hibbs says officials at YouTube can’t show or tell them what those infringements are, but claims A&E and Telemundo claim sermons that have aired on their network belong to them and requested his account be taken down.

“A&E, they had something against us. They raised the flag to YouTube and then they shut us down. It makes no sense whatsoever,” he says.

Once they found out their channel had been wiped, Hibbs made a request to YouTube to discover the problem. YouTube refused to take on their request. “They are stonewalling us,” Hibbs says.

All of his sermons, teachings, videos were taken down and can no longer be accessed. Hibbs is declaring an “information war” as he is certainly not the first, and most likely not the last conservative to be removed from Big Tech’s platforms.

“We are honored to be attacked, we must be speaking so much truth they can’t handle,” he says.

In a couple of months Hibbs is launching The Real Life Network which won’t be at the fingertips of anyone trying to censor their content.

To stay up-to-date with his sermons you can go to https://jackhibbs.com/real-life-tv/.

Pray for conservative Christians voices. Ask God for creative and unique ways for people to continue to share the gospel without the possibility of being censored. {eoa}

‘A Weekend of Blasphemy’: SatanCon 2023 Sold Out

The Satanic Temple (TST) has announced its second convention to be held in Boston, Massachusetts this spring is sold out, according to a post on its website.

The convention known as “SatanCon 2023” will be held on April 28-30 at the Boston Marriott Copley Place. It is being promoted as “a weekend of blasphemy and remembrance in Boston” and will also celebrate TST’s 10-year anniversary.

The group also claims the convention will be the “largest Satanic gathering in history.”

As CBN News reported in January, the theme of the convention is “Hexennacht in Boston” or “Witches Night,” an ancient German holiday that occurs annually on April 30. The SatanCon event includes a “Satanic Ball” on the opening night, April 28,

Lucien Greaves, the Satanic Temple’s co-founder, and spokesperson is set to deliver the keynote address of the conference along with co-founder Malcolm Jarr on Saturday morning.

Other scheduled sessions include “Satanic Panic in Brazil,” “Hellbillies: Visible Satanism in Rural America,” “Deconstructing Your Religious Upbringing,” “Reclaiming the Trans Body: A/theistic Strategies for Self-Determination and Empowerment” and “Sins of the Flesh: Satanism and Self-Pleasure.”

The convention will also offer a Satanic marketplace for those in attendance, but vendors have not been announced.

TST claims it has a Boston-area membership of 2,449 people.

According to the event’s website, the gathering is dedicated to Boston Mayor Michelle Wu for “her unconstitutional efforts to keep TST out of Boston’s public spaces.”

New CM CoverBased in Salem, MA, the group had requested to fly a Satanic flag over Boston City Hall after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled last May that the city violated the free speech rights of a conservative activist seeking to fly a Christian flag on a pole outside the downtown building.

Morning Rundown: Holy Spirit Overwhelms Students at Secular Texas A&M

Here’s a quick summary of the top stories on cn.mycharisma.com:

Holy Spirit Overwhelms Students at Secular Texas A&M

When God’s spirit leads people to worship and to repent, he doesn’t put those things in a box. Therefore, He isn’t limiting the recent wave of revival across America to only Christian universities.

GodTV.com reported Wednesday that students at Texas A&M University in College Station, which has no religious or denominational affiliation, have obeyed the Spirit’s prompting for revival like Christian schools like Asbury University, Lee University and Samford University in recent weeks.

In an article titled “Revival Happening with Texas A&M University Students: Worship, Repentance, Prayers, Healing, Baptism,” Christa reports that TAMU has joined the list of campus revivals happening in America.

Anne Graham Lotz Says This Could Be the ‘Last Great Awakening’

Author and evangelist Anne Graham Lotz raised the idea in a recent blog post that the Asbury revival could be a sign of Jesus’ return.

The daughter of the late Billy Graham, Lotz quoted the New Testament’s James 5:7:

“Therefore, be patient…until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain.”

Stephen Strang: Outpourings Leading to the Asbury Revival

new cm coverimageOne of the things I have devoted my life to is reporting on the moves of the Holy Spirit. Across history, there have been innumerable moves of God, all of which can give historical perspective to the Asbury University revival happening today.

Jim Garlow says, “history is written in phases.” I’m breaking down some of those phases of America’s revival history, to give more perspective to Asbury and the start of the Third Great Awakening in my latest “Strang Report” podcast.

First Great Awakening

The First Great Awakening started around the 1730s and is often known by the famous sermon from Jonathan Edwards, “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.” Edwards depicted a spider being hung by a thread above hell and people were crying out in repentance. {eoa}

Russia-Ukraine War 1st Anniversary: ‘Jesus in frontline trenches’

February 24 marks one year since the Russian army invaded Ukraine along multiple fronts.

While the fog of war makes it difficult to know exact numbers, it is estimated that more than 30,000 Ukrainian civilians—mostly women, children and the elderly—have been killed, mostly due to Russia’s bombing campaign that continues to rain terror across the entire nation. (The real number is likely much higher.) On the battlefield, as many as 200,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded, and as many as 120,000 Ukrainian fighters. Only God knows the true numbers.

Such statistics, however, cannot begin to calculate the grim toll the war has taken. More than 18 million Ukrainians have fled the country since the first bombs dropped last winter (while 10 million have since returned). The war has shuffled national alliances, shaken stock markets, starved Europe of oil and gas and exacerbated food shortages in poverty-stricken parts of Africa. Within Ukraine, more than 1,000 schools have been destroyed while more than 40% of the nation’s power grid has been damaged.

This week the war in Ukraine has once again risen to the top of the news cycle—with President Biden’s visit to Kyiv, Putin’s defiant speech to the Russian people, and the one-year mark of Russia’s invasion. As such, the war is on the minds of many Christians. And so it begs the question: What would God have us do about a war taking place halfway around the world?

To help answer that question I turned to Valentyn Korenevych, professor at Irpin Seminary (just outside Kyiv), pastor at Way of Truth Church and president of Olive Branch Ukraine, one of the nation’s largest war chaplain ministries. Korenevych is not only on the ground as events unfold in Ukraine, but he’s arguably one of the few Christians who has served as an officer in both the Soviet Army (1981-1991), and then after the fall of the USSR, the Ukrainian military (during which time he and his wife, Marina, became Christians).

Korenevych sees a stark difference between what he describes as a unified spirit present throughout Ukraine compared to what is happening in Russia. His 10 years as a logistics officer in the Soviet Army gives him rare insight into the structure and mindset of Russia’s invasion in Ukraine.

“The Soviet Army and the Russian Army are the same. It is the same spirit today that drove communism 30 years ago,” he says. “There are thousands of officers in the Russian Army today who are just like I used to be. It is not a godly structure.”

As a leader of scores of war chaplains serving Ukraine’s fighting men and women, Korenevych has seen Jesus show up in the frontline trenches. “Many soldiers will ask a chaplain to just sit with them during their night watch,” the colonel adds. “Everywhere we go along the frontlines of Ukraine the men and women soldiers say that there is this unique, unifying spirit that they can’t explain. We can then say that what they are sensing are the prayers of believers in Ukraine and around the world.”

“I think God wants to achieve several goals through this war,” he adds. “The first is to motivate His people to pray and to prepare for the Second Coming of Christ. We live in a time when the antichrist will come from one side, and God is preparing us for this. But from the other side, God prepares something opposite. God’s other goal in this war is destroy the antichrist spirit in Moscow and even in Ukraine, where many people still have a Soviet world mentality,” he says.

While Korenevych is quick to point out that God loves the Russian people, he encourages Americans to be aware of the oppressive spirit animating many in the Kremlin. He adds that we must pray to “destroy satanic narratives in people’s minds.”

As we reach the one-year mark of the largest and most devastating land war in 80 years, let us pray that the peace of Jerusalem would descend upon Ukraine. Korenevych adds, “That is my prayer during these difficult days of war, and for whatever comes after.”

Pastor, Congregation Thwart Gunmen in Service With Prayer

As a former police officer, Marquaello Futrell combined the instincts he learned from 10 years on the St. Louis police force with his pastoral instincts when a man suspiciously carrying two bags entered his church during service on a recent Sunday morning.

The man began immediately questioning the church’s children services director. Then, Futrell, the senior pastor at All Creation Northview Holiness Family Church in Ferguson, Missouri, knew quickly what he had to do when he saw four more men come into his sanctuary.

“I immediately just had the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I’m like, ‘OK, something is about to happen,'” Futrell told ksdk.com. “Me being a former police officer, I immediately noticed their waistbands. I’m like, there’s something there.”

Another member of the church later saw one of the men drop his gun. But instead of scaring his congregation, Futrell continued with the service, not letting on that police were on their way to the church.

Futrell directed his media team filming the service to zoom in on the perpetrators because “we needed some face recognition.”

Futrell then called the gunmen out. “Who sent y’all here? You saw the church and decided to come? Talk to me,” Futurell said in the video.

“The Bible speaks of watch and pray, so while we’re being spiritual, I’m also watching around, trying to protect the congregants,” Futrell explained. “I’ve still got a cop anointing, and I still know what’s going on and what’s about to happen. God’s about to change the enemy. Lift your voice and shout unto God!”

What happened next, Futrell said, was “an act of God.” He asked the young men if he could pray for them, and they agreed. Other members of the church placed their hands on the men to pray for them.

He told the men that they had “walked on Holy Ghost turf” when they entered the church.

New CM Cover“Thank y’all for letting us pray for you. And we’re thankful that, for whatever reason, the Lord let y’all come here. You stepped foot on All Creation parking lot. You encountered the move of the Holy Ghost and I just believe that you all will never be the same again.”

The men were arrested when police arrived.

On the video, Futrell said he heard the Lord speak to him: “This is what happens when you illegally trespass,” Futrell said. “That when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard. The flood will never be greater than the standard.” {eoa}

Israel Advances Plans for 4,600 Settler Homes Despite UN Warning

The Higher Planning Council for Judea and Samaria moved forward plans for 4,600 settler homes in Judea and Samaria on Wednesday.

The council will have advanced plans for 7,000 units by the end of the week, making it the highest number of new settler homes advanced in a single week.

The move comes despite warnings from the U.S. and the international community.

The council had significantly reduced the number of homes it approved after U.S. President Joe Biden entered office. This latest advancement returns the number of approvals to the same pace it had under former President Donald Trump.

“After months of a freeze, the advancement of the plans will release a bottleneck and restore development in all areas of Judea and Samaria,” said Yesha CEO Sarah Liebman.

The planning council also pushed forward plans for the recently created settlement of Mevot Yericho in the Jordan Valley.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the correct response to terror attacks is to increase settlement. Netanyahu has continued settlement plans in recent weeks despite international outcry.

Critics argue that this only increases tensions leading to more violence from Palestinians.

Former CIA Director and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo posted a statement to social media countering those claims.

“Israel is not an occupied nation, it is not an apartheid country. It is a democracy. And I will always stand with Israel,” he said.

Pompeo is widely expected to make a presidential campaign announcement in the near future, and many view his statements for Israel as an attempt to gain support in the Evangelical community. {eoa}

Stephen Strang: Outpourings Leading to the Asbury Revival

One of the things I have devoted my life to is reporting on the moves of the Holy Spirit.

The First Great Awakening started around the 1730s and is often known by the famous sermon from Jonathan Edwards, “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.” Edwards depicted a spider being hung by a thread above hell and people were crying out in repentance.

Edwards later wrote how there needed to be a move of God because of the carnal ministers during the time period. He described ministers with hard hearts and fleshly appetites. I covered this in 1975 in an article that was published in the first issue of Charisma magazine.

During the “Bicentennial Era” (1971-1976), Americans gathered together to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the American Revolution. In the 1976 issue of the magazine, I speculated that it was the Great Awakening that set the stage for the independence of the colonies from England.

At the time of the Great Awakening, the colonies were not connected to one another and it was a struggle to even survive. This caused the new Americans to start believing in something greater and more important than the crown in England. It was their faith and fervor to serve God that opened the door to revival.

Second Great Awakening

Later came the Second Great Awakening which started in 1795 to 1835 in Northern Kentucky just one hour north of Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky. Known as the Protestant religious revival on the frontier, people would go out into the woods to worship and preach. People came from all over the country. Reports of manifestations, people falling on the ground shaking came from that move of the Holy Spirit.

Holiness Movement

After the Civil War in 1861 came the Holiness Movement with a series of Methodist revivals. There was a deep fervor to not partake in the things of the world like dancing, gambling, drinking and smoking. Out of the Holiness Movement came a deep cry for God to send a revival and baptize people in the Holy Spirit.

Topeka, Kansas and the Azusa Street Revival

In 1900, the Topeka Kansas Outpouring set the stage for what later became the Azusa Street Revival. What started with Charles Parham and a group of students willing to sell everything to study the Bible and go to the ends of the earth led to an incredible encounter. Parham and the students read Acts 2 and went on a mission to find biblical proof of the baptism of the Holy Spirit and found it was always accompanied by speaking in other tongues.

During a prayer meeting one of the students, Agnes N. Ozman asked Parham to lay hands on her so she could be baptized in the Holy Spirit to become a missionary in a foreign land. A halo was described forming around her face and she started speaking in Chinese.

That little prayer meeting led to the Azusa Street Revival 10 years later. Led by William J. Seymour, a home group meeting on Bonnie Brae street became so packed people were hanging out the windows and a porch collapsed. Someone gave a prophetic word that God was going to take what happened in that house around the world.

The meeting moved to a larger location and people came from around the world. The revival got notoriety when a Los Angeles newspaper reporter showed up to cover the event thinking it was full of hysteria. A man stood up and said God was going to judge San Francisco and days later there was a large earthquake. People came from all over the railroad and received the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Tent Revivals

After World War II, tent meetings were led by Oral Roberts in the beginning days of the charismatic movement. In the 1950’s ordinary businessmen would come to the meetings and be touched by God. They would stand up and share their testimonies to the crowds. People were hungry and wanted to be touched by God.

Catholic Charismatic Renewal

In 1967 a group of Catholic students were praying and it later became known as the Catholic charismatic renewal. A history professor, William Storey, and a graduate student Ralph Kiefer were baptized in the Holy Spirit which led to a great outpouring. I was in college at the time and remember it being a renewal of the gifts of the Spirit.

Jesus Movement

Next came the Jesus Movement in 1970. A movie is coming out in a few days depicting what happened called the “Jesus Revolution.” This movement greatly impacted my life and close friends of mine like Dr. Michael Brown. Before this revival, I had experienced a lot of legalism and was repelled by it. I found a group of people who had a lot of excitement in their life and I became involved with the young people in the Jesus Movement.

Christians were skeptical at first of the hippies with long hair and funky clothes that had come off of drugs and given their lives to Jesus. Many of those hippies are now leaders in the church today.

The revival in Brownsville in 1995 in Pensacola, Florida started on Father’s Day and people started flooding the altars. The revival went on night after night led by Evangelist Steve Hill.

There are many kinds of different revivals. There are mass movements that go on for hundreds of years or sometimes a week or two.

What is unique about the Asbury University revival is that it started as a chapel service and then it never stopped. There is no big evangelist or speaker, just hungry hearts and the presence of God. As you read through all of this revival history I pray it is stirring in you a hunger for more of God in your life. It has for me.

My new book “Spirit-Led Living in an Upside Down World” is available for pre-order and it’s a book I had to dig deep for. It goes into greater depth on revival history and living by the power of the Holy Spirit. {eoa}
