Gateway Church is currently dealing with more changes amid the outbreak of scandal after Robert Morris admitted to sexual assault of Cindy Clemishire for multiple years starting when she was just 12 years old.

Recently, a lawsuit was filed after a female alleged that she was sexually assaulted during youth group meetings that the church held at The King’s University in Southlake near the main church campus, according to WFAA Channel 8.

The lawsuit claims that this happened back in the latter portion of 2016 and into 2017. The claim is that a then a 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted and groomed by a 17-year-old at the youth group meetings. The alleged offender had turned 18 during this time. The suit further stated that there typically were over 200 children from grades 6-12 there “with little or no supervision by Gateway’s youth counselors, pastors, leaders, chaperones or volunteers.”

Isabel Vaughan-Spruce, a woman arrested twice for praying outside of an abortion clinic, is to receive £13,000 British pounds from the police, or nearly $17,000 U.S. dollars.

Vaughan-Spruce filed a claim against the West Midlands Police for “two wrongful arrests and false imprisonments; assault and battery in relation to an intrusive search of her person; and for a breach of her human rights both in respect to the arrests, and to the onerous bail conditions imposed on her,” according to the Alliance Defending Freedom.

Vaughan-Spruce was first arrested in 2022 for praying in a “buffer zone,” an area that protects abortion providers by prohibiting any expression of approval or disapproval.

The incident is thought to be the first “thoughtcrime” in 21st-century Britain.

While she was acquitted in February 2023, she was arrested weeks later for the same activity.

“Silent prayer is not a crime. Nobody should be arrested merely for the thoughts they have in their heads – yet this happened to me twice at the hands of the West Midlands Police, who explicitly told me that “prayer is an offence,” Vaughan-Spruce said. “There is no place for Orwell’s ‘thought police’ in 21st Century Britain, and thanks to legal support I received from ADF UK, I’m delighted that the settlement that I have received today acknowledges that. Yet despite this victory, I am deeply concerned that this violation could be repeated at the hands of other police forces.”

She added that culture is “shifting towards a clamp down on viewpoint diversity, with Christian thought and prayer increasingly under threat of censorship.”

“A ‘buffer zone’ policy is set to be rolled out by the government imminently – the language of which is inherently unclear, and will likely lead to further violations against the freedom to pray, or peacefully converse or offer help near abortion facilities.”

A similar incident occurred last year when a former British Army member faced charges for silently praying near an abortion clinic.

In a statement to MailOnline, Smith-Connor stated, “Nobody should be prosecuted for silent prayer,” he told MailOnline. “It is unfathomable that in an apparently free society, I am being criminalized on the basis of what I expressed silently, in the privacy of my own mind.”

The space where his group sounded the trumpets was not on the floor of the Temple Mount per se, but the building they were in actually projects out over the Temple Mount. As reported by Israel365, “The trumpets were blown at a prayer service held twice a year and overseen by Rabbi Rami Goren, the son of Rabbi Shlomo Goren, who served as the first head of the military rabbinate of the Israel Defense Forces. Rabbi Shlomo Goren oversaw the IDF victory in the 1967 Six-Day War that brought the Temple Mount under Israeli sovereignty.”

CBS News Texas describes how Julia Long, who filed the claim, alleges that Gabriel Snyder assaulted her on the church grounds after grooming her with “biblical beliefs and teachings of…Gateway’s pastors and ministers” that she submit to him because she was a female. Long and her parents are actively seeking more than $1 million from Gateway and Snyder. Right now, Snyder is in prison for an unrelated sexual assault crime against a child and is expected to be released in October.

Gateway Church told CBS: “We take any claim of abuse very seriously. We are unable to further comment regarding ongoing litigation at this time.”

As WFAA further explained, the suit claims that “There were surveillance cameras on the building about the areas where [the victim] was sexually assaulted but nobody from Defendant Gateway ever came to [her] aid.”

The suit further states that Long’s family had a “special,” confidential relationship with Gateway, but that it inflicted emotional and mental harm.

With this latest heartbreaking update also comes at the same time the name change of the Houston branch of Gateway, which is pastored by Robert Morris’ son-in-law, Ethan Fisher. The church is now to be called Newlands Church.

“I believe that during this season, as a church, that God is once again calling us into something new,” Fisher said, according to the Christian Post. “And I simply want to follow.”

“We believe the Lord has given us a new name. This next chapter is about obedience and stepping out in faith to be who God has called us to be. In Scripture, when God changed a name He was speaking prophetically to who that person was to become,” Fisher said.

During this time of shifting sands in the Gateway community, the church is currently in a 40-day fast that is set to end on September 13.

“The Elders are inviting our entire church family to devote ourselves to 40 days of prayer and fasting beginning Monday, Aug. 5, and running through Friday, Sept. 13,” the church posted on their site.

Muslims burned down a church building in the early hours of Saturday (Aug. 10) in central Nigeria’s Niger state, sources said.

The razing of the building of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) congregation in Kontagora town at about 3 a.m. was the second time Muslims have destroyed the worship auditorium at the site, said Associate Pastor Samson Ogbebor.

“I got a distress call that our church was on fire, and on getting there I met a church being burned down and properties therein looted by hoodlums,” Pastor Ogbebor told Christian Daily International-Morning Star News. “This church has faced lots of challenges – about 10 years ago, some Muslim hoodlums came and burnt it down completely, and through self-efforts we were able to rebuild the worship sanctuary.”

Muslims in Kontagora had made several unsuccessful attempts to prevent the congregation from constructing the worship auditorium, he said.

“We eventually completed the building of the church building, but they have not relented in their opposition to allowing us as Christians to have a place of worship in the town,” Pastor Ogbebor said. “For a second time they have burnt down the sanctuary.”

Church member Markus Emmanuel said he rushed to the site after receiving a call about the fire at the Champion Parish, Kontagora town.

“The building was completely razed by fire,” Emmanuel told Christian Daily International-Morning Star News. “Some residents close to the church building told us that they saw a group of Muslims who came into the church premises and set fire on the building.”

Emmanuel said the building was still under construction when it was burned 10 years ago.

“This is the second time our worship sanctuary has been destroyed, as 10 years back, a group of Muslim fanatics who were opposed to the church building being constructed at that site set fire on it, before the worship building was reconstructed,” he said.

Church deacon John Aboje called on Muslim leaders in the town to take measures toward preserving religious freedom of Christians in the predominantly Muslim Kontagora Local Government Area.

“We just want to plead with the state government and the Kontagora Muslim emirate to look into the issue by compelling the perpetrators to allow freedom of worship,” Aboje said.

The Rev. Bulus Dauda Yohanna, chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Niger State Chapter, confirmed the destruction of the worship auditorium in a statement issued on Saturday (Aug. 10).

“The destruction of the RCCG worship building is not only barbaric and unwarranted, but also a very painful experience to the Christian community in Kontagora town,” Yohanna said. “There’s the need for government officials in Kontagora to take strict measures towards putting an end to such ungodly activities of fanatics. This incident has created religious tension.”

Christians were hoping that the law would take its course, he said.

“To be frank, issues like this must be tamed, and people who have done this should be fished out and made to face the law,” Yohanna said.

Aisha Wakaso, media aid to Gov. Mohammed Bago, said in a statement that the governor condemned the destruction of the church building.

“We totally condemn this act and tell our Christian brothers and sisters, as well as other Niger state inhabitants, that the government prioritizes their safety, security, and freedom of religion,” Wakaso said. “Our state utilizes its diversity and the peaceful coexistence of all religious and ethnic groups. We will not condone this stupid act of violence.”

The governor has requested that all relevant security agencies conduct an immediate and complete inquiry into the attack, he said.

“We are convinced that the perpetrators of this horrible arson will be quickly discovered and prosecuted,” Wakaso said. “The administration will see that those involved are punished to the fullest extent of the law. We urge the people of Kontagora and Niger state to be calm and refrain from revenge or violence. Let us continue to collaborate to preserve the peace and togetherness that define our magnificent nation.”

In the 2024 WWL of the countries where it is most difficult to be a Christian, Nigeria was ranked No. 6, as it was in the previous year. Nigeria remained the deadliest place in the world to follow Christ, with 4,118 people killed for their faith from Oct. 1, 2022 to Sept. 30, 2023, according to Open Doors’ 2024 World Watch List (WWL) report. More kidnappings of Christians than in any other country also took place in Nigeria, with 3,300.

Nigeria was also the third highest country in number of attacks on churches and other Christian buildings such as hospitals, schools, and cemeteries, with 750, according to the report.

Most Americans don’t even realize that virtually all of their personal information has been stolen and posted online for free. The personal records of 2.9 billion people were stolen from a major data broker known as National Public Data earlier this year, and this month almost of the information that was stolen was posted online for anyone to freely take. 

We are talking about names, addresses, phone numbers, employment histories, birth dates and Social Security numbers. This is one of the most egregious privacy violations in the history of the world, but hardly anyone knows what has happened. So please share this article as widely as you possibly can.

USA Today is reporting that the original theft of this data occurred “in or around April 2024.″

An enormous amount of Social Security numbers and other sensitive information for millions of people could be in the hands of a hacking group after a data breach and may have been released on an online marketplace, The Los Angeles Times reported this week.

The hacking group USDoD claimed it had allegedly stolen personal records of 2.9 billion people from National Public Data, according to a class-action lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, reported by Bloomberg Law. The breach was believed to have happened in or around April 2024, according to the lawsuit.

The company that this data was stolen from is a Florida-based background check company known as National Public Data.  The following is what Wikipedia has to say about this particular firm.

Jerico Pictures, Inc., doing business as National Public Data[1][2] is a data broker company that performs employee background checks. Their primary service is collecting information from public data sources, including criminal records, addresses, and employment history, and offering that information for sale.

Of course there are hordes of other data brokers out there these days. They collect vast troves of information on as many people as they possibly can, and then they monetize that information in various ways.

Equifax, Epsilon and Acxiom are the three largest data brokers in existence today. Each one of them brings in more than 2 billion dollars of revenue annually.

As you can see, collecting and selling our personal information is very big business. And when one of these data brokers gets hacked, it is a major disaster for all of us.

One member of the hacking group that stole this data claims to have “the full NPD database.”

Last week, a purported member of USDoD identified only as Felice told the hacking forum that they were offering “the full NPD database,” according to a screenshot taken by BleepingComputer. The information consists of about 2.7 billion records, each of which includes a person’s full name, address, date of birth, Social Security number and phone number, along with alternate names and birth dates, Felice claimed.

How much damage could criminals do to your life if they had your name, address, phone number, employment history, date of birth and Social Security number? You might want to think about that.

According to a law firm that is involved in litigation over this matter, a total of 277.1 gigabytes of data were stolen.

You may not want anyone to know where you were living 30 years ago. But now just about anyone can easily find out, because the vast majority of the information that was stolen has been posted online for free.

About four months after a notorious hacking group claimed to have stolen an extraordinary amount of sensitive personal information from a major data broker, a member of the group has reportedly released most of it for free on an online marketplace for stolen personal data.

The breach, which includes Social Security numbers and other sensitive data, could power a raft of identity theft, fraud and other crimes, said Teresa Murray, consumer watchdog director for the U.S. Public Interest Research Group.

“If this in fact is pretty much the whole dossier on all of us, it certainly is much more concerning” than prior breaches, Murray said in an interview. “And if people weren’t taking precautions in the past, which they should have been doing, this should be a five-alarm wake-up call for them.”

Read that last paragraph again. An entire dossier on your life is just sitting out there, and virtually anyone that has a vendetta against you can access it.

So what can we do to protect ourselves?

Some experts are encouraging people to make certain that their antivirus programs are up to date. I think that is definitely a good idea, but I don’t know how that will protect anyone from information that has already been stolen.

It is also being suggested that people should update their passwords. Needless to say, this is something that everyone should be doing on a regular basis anyway.

In the weeks and months ahead, keeping a close eye on your credit report will be important. If your identity is being used by someone, you don’t want that to go unchecked for very long or else your credit could be ruined.

But ultimately there is not much that you can do to keep nefarious individuals from accessing personal information that is being freely copied and passed around the Internet. To a very large degree, the damage has already been done.

It is being projected that cybercrime will cost the world 10.5 trillion dollars annually by the year 2025.

Just like everywhere else in our society, there are vast hordes of predators on the Internet that are relentlessly searching for new victims, and this is yet another sign that our society is in an extremely advanced stage of decay.

We should have never allowed ourselves to become so dependent on the Internet, but there is no going back now.

Chicago, Illinois, is shaping up to have a wild week, and we haven’t even reached night one of the Democratic National Convention.

Before the festivities, or protests, took place, the Windy City was hit with a generational swarm of cicadas that brought with them a nasty little surprise.

With the arrival of the cicadas came the oak leaf itch mite, which cicada expert Dr. Gene Kritsky told NBC that they “can be seen in vast quantities following a cicada emergence.”

This pestilence hit Chicago back in 2007, when Kritsky said scientists discovered the mites were buried in with the egg nests of Brood XIII cicadas.

As reported by the Daily Star, “That exact brood was one of the two to emerge during the historic emergence earlier this year, which Kritsky described as ‘biblical.'”

The mites bring with them a nasty little stinger on their rear ends and can cause severe irritation, and this brood of cicadas still has thousand of eggs left to hatch, so the annoyance of the mites is far from over.

“People should avoid sitting under the trees until after the eggs hatch in mid-August,” says Kritsky.

The winged terrors arrived back in Chicago just in time for the DNC which has already seen pro-Hamas protests, an inflatable IUD, on-demand abortion and vasectomies provided by Planned Parenthood and who knows what else the week will bring.

You can’t tell me God doesn’t have a sense of humor.

Some see God’s divine intervention in an earthquake that struck southern Syria and Lebanon on the very day an attack by Iran and Hezbollah against Israel was anticipated.

Israel has been bracing for an attack by Iran and its proxy Hezbollah ever since the Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran on July 31.

“Although the strike on Haniyeh was widely assumed to have been carried out by Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government made no claim of responsibility and said it would make no comment on the killing,” Reuters reported.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei told Israel to expect “harsh punishment.”

Some have felt the delay in a response may have been because the Islamic State wanted to wait for the Tisha B’Av, or the 9th of Av on the Jewish lunar calendar, which began on Monday evening and continued until nightfall on Tuesday.

However, the Associated Press reported that a 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck the city of Hama at 11:56 p.m. local time Monday night. The official Syria state news outlet said it was a 4.8 magnitude quake. Aftershocks continued into Tuesday morning.

“In Damascus and Beirut — the capital of neighboring Lebanon, where the earthquake was also felt—residents descended to the streets fearing a stronger quake that would collapse buildings,” according to the AP.

Duvi Honig, CEO of the Jewish Chamber of Commerce, authored an opinion piece for the Jerusalem Post, titled, “Heaven Sent: Is Lebanon’s Earthquake a Testament to Divine Protection?”

“In our collective memory, Tisha B’Av has always been a solemn day, marked by the destruction of the First and Second Temples. This year, however, the day bore witness to what many of us view as a modern-day miracle—a testament to divine intervention that could not have come at a more crucial time,” he wrote.

Dallas Theological Seminary professor Mark Hitchcock, explained on his weekly podcast “Marking the End Times” on Aug. 15, that the 9th of Av, which usually falls in early August on the Gregorian solar calendar, is the date Solomon’s temple in Jerusalem was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 B.C. and the second temple was demolished by the Romans in A.D. 70.

So God was showing that His hand was behind the destruction to send a message to the Jewish people He was punishing them for their disobedience, Hitchcock said.

Later in 1492, on the 9th of Av, the Spanish king expelled the Jews from his realm, a place where they had been flourishing for over a thousand years.

Honig wrote in the Post that the earthquake that struck Lebanon and Syria, where Hezbollah is based, flipped the script on what Tisha B’Av has traditionally commemorated.

“It may have served as an unanticipated yet divine act that thwarted a grave threat against the Jewish nation,” he argued.

“Hezbollah, an established proxy of Iran, had been preparing to launch an attack on Israel—a direct affront planned deliberately for Tisha B’Av. “It is hard to perceive it as mere coincidence that the earth shook on the very day Hezbollah had intended to send Israel into mourning once more. With tunnels collapsing and their arsenals buried, what could have been a devastating assault turned into a day of bewildering relief and gratitude,” he said.

Honig concluded, “Tisha B’Av, usually a day of sorrow and reflection, was transformed into a moment where we could see the hand of God in action, turning our potential despair into potential reassurance.”

Hitchcock agreed saying the timing of the earthquake likely encouraged Israelis and gave Hezbollah pause.

He saw it as an example of God, who is often operating behind the scenes in a less obvious way, showing His hand more openly.

“One thing is sure in all of this: God is in control of the time table and the scope of any attack by Iran and Hezbollah against Israel,” Hitchcock said.

The Bible teaches that Iran will be involved in a major end-times battle against Israel.

Persia (modern day Iran) is specifically named as a nation that will attack Israel in the battle of Gog and Magog, which will include a coalition of other countries thought to include present-day Russia and Turkey, among others. Both countries have come into alignment with Tehran in recent years.

Hitchcock exhorted, “We have to remember that whatever happens in the Middle East and in fact whatever happens in our lives, God has the last word.”

Some see God’s divine intervention in an earthquake that struck southern Syria and Lebanon on the very day an attack by Iran and Hezbollah against Israel was anticipated.

Israel has been bracing for an attack by Iran and its proxy Hezbollah ever since the Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran on July 31.

“Although the strike on Haniyeh was widely assumed to have been carried out by Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government made no claim of responsibility and said it would make no comment on the killing,” Reuters reported.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei told Israel to expect “harsh punishment.”

Some have felt the delay in a response may have been because the Islamic State wanted to wait for the Tisha B’Av, or the 9th of Av on the Jewish lunar calendar, which began on Monday evening and continued until nightfall on Tuesday.

However, the Associated Press reported that a 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck the city of Hama at 11:56 p.m. local time Monday night. The official Syria state news outlet said it was a 4.8 magnitude quake. Aftershocks continued into Tuesday morning.

“In Damascus and Beirut — the capital of neighboring Lebanon, where the earthquake was also felt—residents descended to the streets fearing a stronger quake that would collapse buildings,” according to the AP.

Duvi Honig, CEO of the Jewish Chamber of Commerce, authored an opinion piece for the Jerusalem Post, titled, “Heaven Sent: Is Lebanon’s Earthquake a Testament to Divine Protection?”

“In our collective memory, Tisha B’Av has always been a solemn day, marked by the destruction of the First and Second Temples. This year, however, the day bore witness to what many of us view as a modern-day miracle—a testament to divine intervention that could not have come at a more crucial time,” he wrote.

Dallas Theological Seminary professor Mark Hitchcock, explained on his weekly podcast “Marking the End Times” on Aug. 15, that the 9th of Av, which usually falls in early August on the Gregorian solar calendar, is the date Solomon’s temple in Jerusalem was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 B.C. and the second temple was demolished by the Romans in A.D. 70.

So God was showing that His hand was behind the destruction to send a message to the Jewish people He was punishing them for their disobedience, Hitchcock said.

Later in 1492, on the 9th of Av, the Spanish king expelled the Jews from his realm, a place where they had been flourishing for over a thousand years.

Honig wrote in the Post that the earthquake that struck Lebanon and Syria, where Hezbollah is based, flipped the script on what Tisha B’Av has traditionally commemorated.

“It may have served as an unanticipated yet divine act that thwarted a grave threat against the Jewish nation,” he argued.

“Hezbollah, an established proxy of Iran, had been preparing to launch an attack on Israel—a direct affront planned deliberately for Tisha B’Av.
