A fish with a bad reputation was found recently off the California coast, making it only the 20th so-called “doomsday fish” found in the state since 1901.

The oarfish found by some snorkelers off LaJolla Cove was 12 feet in length, according to Fox News.

The oarfish acquired the “doomsday fish” name as some believe its appearance “foreshadows natural disasters, such as earthquakes or tsunamis,” the Ocean Conservancy says.

Two days after the oarfish was found, a earthquake hit Los Angeles.

Experts at the NOAA Southwest Fisheries Science Center and Scripps Institution of Oceanography will study the fish to determine how it died.

After that, the fish will move to the Scripps Marine Vertebrate Collection at the University of California San Diego.

Ben Frable, manager of the Marine Vertebrate Collection at UC San Diego’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography said oarfish “are not common here in California,” according to the Los Angeles Times.

“These fish are generally living in the deep-sea, open-ocean environment,” he said.

“People have studied them, but we’ve very rarely interacted with them alive in their natural habitat,” Frable said

“It’s always been a fish of interest, this long, beautiful silver fish,” Frable said, “It definitely looks fanciful; it evokes the sea serpent mythology.”

The fish does not deserve its reputation, which in the 21st Century led it to be associated with the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster.

“There is no scientific evidence of a connection, so I don’t think people need to worry,” Hiroyuki Motomura, a professor of ichthyology at Kagoshima University said, according to the New York Post.

“I believe these fish tend to rise to the surface when their physical condition is poor, rising on water currents, which is why they are so often dead when they are found,” he said.

One church, The Altar Fellowship in Johnson City, Tennessee, is putting their money where their faith is and blessing the community around them to the tune of $8 million.

Leader of The Altar Fellowship, evangelist, pastor and author Mattie Montgomery, told The Christian Post that he dreamed of helping relieve people of crushing medical debt. After sharing this dream with a friend, the decision was made to partner with a debt negotiation group called RIP Medical Debt.

By doing so, The Altar Fellowship was able to purchase and consolidate $8 million worth of debt from the church’s six neighboring counties for only $50,000 after negotiations.

“And essentially, we became the collection agency for $8 million of medical debt,” Montgomery said to The Christian Post. “Instead of pursuing it any further, we just sent a letter to everyone whose debt we had taken, and we just said, ‘Hey, Jesus loves you, we love you. And it’s our privilege to cancel this debt entirely.'”

This act of kindness and love has led to amazing testimonies about the goodness of God.

“One story of a family helped by the church that stood out to the pastor involved a teenage boy who was known for attending worship services without his parents because they’re not Christians. The high schooler had been trying to share about the church and newfound faith with his parents.

“And then one day, his dad called him in and said, ‘Hey, that church you go to is called The Altar, right?’ And he said, ‘Yeah?’ And the dad said, ‘Your church just paid off all my medical bills,'” Montgomery recalls. “And he was just really confounded by that. He thought, ‘Why did they do this?’ And his son got the opportunity to share the Gospel with his father because of the giving of the church.”

But the job doesn’t stop there according to Montgomery. There is still a lot of work for the church to do in the world, and he hopes this example will set a fire in the heart of the church to go out and serve the world as Jesus commanded us to do.

“We want extravagant generosity to be one of the things that the church is known for,” Montgomery says. “And I don’t just mean our church, The Altar Fellowship; I mean the church nationally and internationally. I want people to know that, in a moment of crisis, the place they need to get to is to be with a group of people who follow Jesus. They need to get into a church.”

An Idaho Army National Guard officer was removed from his position after voicing his Christian beliefs. Liberty Counsel has since filed a complaint against the Idaho Army National Guard, demanding that the officer’s position be restored.

The officer relayed his Christian beliefs on his social media, sharing his perspectives on gender ideology and the sexualization of children. His comments offended a “subordinate senior enlisted man who claims to be homosexual,” Liberty Counsel wrote in a report on the matter.

One of the comments made by the Christian officer was, “No child is born in the wrong body.”

The “subordinate senior enlisted man” claimed that the Christian officer’s beliefs show “just how much [the officer] truly hates the LGBTQ community.” He added that the situation created an “uncomfortable, unsafe, and a hostile work environment, making it increasingly challenging for me to perform my duties effectively.

“With the active ties to the extremist/hate group, it makes me feel threatened and unsafe. All the posts on his social media and how public he is about his hate towards individuals like me and my family. Not just for me but for my husband and my child,” the subordinate senior enlisted man complained.

According to Liberty Counsel, the Idaho Army National Guard violated the “First Amendment, Religious Freedom Restoration Act, the Idaho Constitution, and the Free Exercise of Religious Protection Act.”

The legal group has informed Idaho Governor Brad Little (R) of the matter and urged the Idaho Army National Guard to “‘unsubstantiate’ the discriminatory investigating officer’s findings and recommendations; reject the discriminatory policy regarding religious speech; dismiss the frivolous subordinate senior enlisted man’s complaint and restore the officer’s career.”

Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver said in a statement, “Governor Brad Little must ensure that the Idaho Army National Guard uphold federal and state law and protect the free speech of enlisted personnel. This discrimination against an officer based on a frivolous complaint must be addressed and his record cleared and career restored.”

Chris Reed has stepped away from MorningStar Ministries.

Reed, who has served as both the CEO and the president of MorningStar, turned in his resignation on Monday, Aug. 26, and is now handing the ministry back over to Rick Joyner.

In a statement posted on X, Chris Reed shared how difficult the decision was for him to step away from MorningStar.

“After MUCH prayer, thought, and consideration, along with Missy and trusted friends, I have decided to fully and immediately step down from all leadership responsibilities at MorningStar Ministries. This includes my role as CEO, President, and Senior Pastor of the Fort Mill Church, turning the ministry back over to Rick Joyner, the founder of MorningStar. I submitted by letter of resignation on Monday, August 26, 2024, and it was graciously accepted.”

Reed acknowledges that this decision will be a shock for many people, and he is “heartbroken.”

“I know this may come as a surprise, and perhaps even a shock, to some of you. Please believe me when I say this was not an easy decision. I am heartbroken. There are many reasons behind this choice, but primarily, after three years of serving here, including over a year as CEO and President, I have come to realize that I cannot continue in this role.”

Reed reaffirmed that the call on his life to work in ministry is still active, and he will continue to pursue this calling to share the gospel.

“My calling has always been, and remains, to prophesy, pastor, teach, preach, and write. That is why I have made the decision to return fully to what God has called me to.”

Reed is going to work on creating a web-based model of house churches that have regional leaders. He will also continue his work leading and training others through a prophetic online school. In the future, Reed desires to relocate to a different part of South Carolina and begin a new church.

He further acknowledged allegations about a former volunteer and police officer committing sexual crimes against minors. Reed says these crimes happened before he assumed leadership duties, and that it was reported immediately to authorities.

“As many of you are aware, in the late spring of 2023, allegations surfaced over a former volunteer and police officer. These crimes took place before I took over. We immediately told the police and this was reported in the news. I never met the man or his family. The individual committed terrible crimes against minors. Missy and I stand unequivocally with the victims and their families. I condemn his actions in the strongest possible terms. This is also why I hired an external group to train our staff on sexual abuse awareness and how to safeguard minors.”

Reed says that both he and his wife, Missy, were sexually abused as children by people outside their families, and so this topic hits close to home as it is something he says has “haunted me throughout my life since it happened when I was just seven years old.”

Reed ended the document by thanking everyone at MorningStar for the opportunity he had to work with them and create lasting friendships. He also apologized for the inconvenience and disruption that his exit may cause.

“I have nothing but respect and honor for the leadership of MorningStar Ministries. I have no negative feelings toward anyone here. I simply find myself in a position where I can no longer lead the ministry.”

During this time, please pray for both Reed and MorningStar Ministries for God to guide and direct their paths in this new season of life.

Brad Arnold, the lead singer of the rock band 3 Doors Down, caught attention this month for powerful comments he made about Jesus and faith during a concert at Hersheypark Stadium in Pennsylvania.

Before belting out the band’s song “Away From the Sun” at the show on Aug. 23, Arnold told the audience he started feeling compelled two years ago to share an important message with fans during his performances.

“I feel like I can identify with this song more than most of our songs,” he said, calling “Away From the Sun” his favorite of the band’s ballads. “This world surrounds by a message we’ll never be good enough, we’ll never be strong enough, we’ll never be beautiful enough, we’ll never be rich enough.”

Arnold wasn’t done there, calling out a “lie” he believes is perpetuated on social media and in other facets of life: that we’ll never be truly loved and that we’ll never “win.”

“My friends, I just want to take a second to tell you — that’s an absolute lie,” he said. “You are loved. You are enough, and you will win. Not only can you win, but you will win. You’ll always be enough for one reason, and that’s because Jesus Christ loves you.”

Nearly 4,000 Israeli soldiers have been wounded since Oct. 7, many with life-changing injuries. Recently, a special guest encouraged them not to let those changes ruin their lives.

Nick Vujicic, an international Christian speaker who was born with no arms or legs, visited Sheba Medical Center near Tel Aviv. It’s where many of the soldiers wounded in the war come for treatment of their bodies and souls.

“What I realize now is that when we look different, we are the ones that everyone looks at. So, the fact that we still exist, the fact that we sometimes smile, the fact that we keep on going out there, there are many people that say, ‘Wow, if he didn’t give up, then I’m not going to give up,'” he told a group of wounded veterans.

Vujicic, who is an inspiration to every audience he addresses, told CBN News he felt humbled and inspired after speaking to the soldiers. He called his experience with them “amazing,” and said, “I think for such a time as this, it’s very important for us to show up and show the support and love and plant seeds of life and faith into everyone here.”

“Today was amazing to be with the wounded soldiers here. Um, you know, my mom was a nurse and so I have compassion for the doctors and nurses here as well, ministering to the needs of those here and families affected,” he said. “I think for such a time as this, it’s very important; important for us to show up and show the support and love and plant seeds of light and faith into everyone here.”

Hundreds of police officers backed by riot squads raided a vast religious compound in a southern Philippine city Saturday in search of a local preacher accused of sexual abuse and human trafficking, police officials said.

A supporter of the group, called Kingdom of Jesus Christ, reportedly died due to a heart attack during the massive police raid that started at dawn in the group’s compound in Davao city, livestreamed online by a local TV network owned by the group, police said, adding that the death was not related to the police operations.

Officers brought equipment that could detect people behind cement walls. But by mid-afternoon, they found no sign of Apollo Quiboloy in the compound — some 30 hectares (75 acres) that includes a cathedral, a school, a living area, a hangar and a taxiway leading to Davao International Airport.

Quiboloy and his lawyer have denied the criminal allegations against him and his religious group, saying these were fabricated by critics and former members, who were removed from the religious group after committing irregularities.

Quiboloy’s followers, many filming the police raid with their cellphones, yelled at the police, questioning the legality of the raid and pronouncing the innocence of Quiboloy, who was a close supporter and spiritual adviser of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

Duterte had criticized previous attempts by large numbers of police to arrest Quiboloy as overkill.

Quiboloy claims to be the appointed son of God. In 2019, he claimed he stopped a major earthquake from hitting the southern Philippines.

Police Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, who led the raid, said officers wanted to serve warrants for the arrest of Quiboloy for various criminal cases, including child abuse and human trafficking. He justified the large deployment, saying there were more than 40 buildings and structures to be searched in the religious compound, where large numbers of Quiboloy’s followers heckled and opposed the raid noisily.

“We won’t leave here until we get him,” Torre told reporters as sirens blared in the background. “We have no-bail warrants for Quiboloy and four others for very grave crimes, including human trafficking, child abuse and other cases.”

In 2021, United States federal prosecutors announced the indictment of Quiboloy for allegedly having sex with women and underage girls who faced threats of abuse and “eternal damnation” unless they catered to the self-proclaimed “son of God.”

Quiboloy and two of his top administrators were among nine people named in a superseding indictment returned by a federal grand jury and unsealed in November 2021.

The superseding indictment contained a raft of charges, including conspiracy, sex trafficking of children, sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion, marriage fraud, money laundering, cash smuggling and visa fraud.

Quiboloy’s group said then that he was ready to face the charges in court, but he went into hiding after a Philippine court ordered his arrest and several others for child and sexual abuse. The Philippine Senate has separately ordered Quiboloy’s arrest for refusing to appear in committee hearings that was looking into criminal allegations against him.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has urged Quiboloy to surrender and assured him of fair treatment by authorities.

Does the Bible show us the path America should turn to during this election season?

In his latest prophetic message, Jonathan Cahn unveiled a prophetic mystery of how the Clintons, Barack Obama and Donald Trump all match the descriptions and years of public service of different biblical characters.

In Cahn’s book, “The Paradigm,” he noted how Bill Clinton fit into the role of King Ahab, as his wife, Hillary, fits the description of Ahab’s wife, Jezebel.

“Ahab. He was a divided man, a compromised man. He knew of God, but he warred against the ways of God. He championed the worship of Baal, which meant child sacrifice and sexual immorality and the overturning of biblical absolutes and traditional values. So too, in America a culture war began. The term was coined at the same moment that a man rose to power. His name was Bill Clinton,” Cahn says.

Both Ahab and Bill Clinton served in public office for a total of 22 years.

In the Old Testament, we read how Jezebel was biggest proponent of Baal worship, which included the sacrificing of children. So too, Hillary Clinton has been known for her devotion to abortion.

“In fact, Planned Parenthood named her [Hillary Clinton] the abortion champion of the century,” Cahn says.

Cahn also points out how Ahab and Jezebel were caught up in a scandal involving the vineyard of a man named Naboth. Likewise, the Clintons have been thoroughly involved in scandals over time, with the Monica Lewinsky scandal being the biggest one of all. Just as Ahab fell at the hands of the tribe of Levi, Cahn points out that “Lewinsky” comes from the word “Levi.”

Not only does the Clinton duo parallel Ahab and Jezebel, but Barack Obama also has striking similarities to Joram.

“Joram followed in the ways and policies of Ahab and Jezebel. So, Obama would follow in the agenda begun by the Clintons. The reign of Joram would be known for hostility to God and to His people. The rule of Barack Obama would also be known for its hostility to God, to biblical values and to religious conservatives,” Cahn says.

However, just as Jehu would rise up and destroy the Baal worship in Israel, so too Trump rose up in 2016 and has fought repeatedly against the abortion stance that the Clintons hold as their idol.

“…it also speaks of Jehu as a soldier. He was a captain, a commander, a general. Jehu was not a member of the royal house. He wasn’t a politician. He was a fighter. Jehu was a fighter. Donald Trump wasn’t a politician; he’s a fighter. He fights with everyone. Jehu was not a gentle man; he was a wild man. At times he seemed unpredictable, uncontrollable. Trump [is] the same way,” Cahn says.

Just as we don’t know everything about Jehu’s relationship with God, we also do not know everything about Trump’s relationship with Him. However, God was able to use Jehu to accomplish good things, something that we can also see with God’s use of Trump.

“It’s not about the person, it’s about God. It’s about the purposes. It’s about things like life…it’s about the will of God,” Cahn says. “America is hanging in the balance just as Israel hung in the balance in ancient times.”

Now, as we embark into a new political season, Cahn points out that it is up to us to choose light over darkness.

“America has free will, as do its voters,” says Cahn. “We all have free will. God has His will, His perfect will, His permissible or permissive will, and His redemptive will. We have a free will to pray or not to pray. To vote or not to vote.”

Christians can no longer say they don’t like or want to engage with politics. What our future looks like is dependent upon the actions that we do or do not take now. During this time, seek the Holy Spirit for His guidance in the middle of this political season.

Back in 2023, the prophetic voice of Joseph Z warned that 2024 would see an increase in damaging cyberattacks targeting infrastructure across the nation.

It would appear, especially in the wake of another cyberattack last weekend on the Port of Seattle and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, that Z’s word is likely accurate.

Not many details have emerged from this most recent cyberattack, but officials have acknowledged delays with airport baggage services and incorrect information being displayed on screens through the terminals. In addition to these, port authorities said telephone services went down as well as email and the port and airport website.

These pale in comparison to some of the cyberattacks we’ve already seen this year, such as Crowdstrike and Microsoft outage which caused mass disruptions in their wake for places such as hospitals, 911 services and many others, as well as the breach that exposed nearly all Americans’ social security numbers to the world.

In one of his previous messages, Z urged America to right the path that we are on.

“America, repent, because there’s more of these Trojan Horse things that are trying to manifest,” he said.

Z emphasizes the urgency of these times and called for spiritual readiness. “There’s something going on with technology,” he says. “I believe we’re headed toward a great day, maybe a terrible day for the unrighteous. More and more manifestation.”

Many voices are now speaking up in the wake of these cyberattacks and digital outages, pointing to the vulnerability of election machines and the impact an attack could have on this year’s election.

Z echoes these sentiments with a past word addressing the dangers we face with an unsecured digital grid, believing that “unparalleled and almost cataclysmic cyberattacks will occur, raising concerns about the vulnerability of digital infrastructures.”

In the face of such unprecedented digital attacks, it is imperative that we as Christians put our faith into action and pray over our nation. That we engage in spiritual warfare for the soul of this country, and that we as a nation repent of our sins and put God back at the forefront of American society.

Mark Zuckerberg admitted that Meta complied with pressure from the Biden-Harris campaign to place censorship on Americans’ free speech.

In a letter to the U.S. House of Representatives, Zuckerberg wrote:

“I appreciate the Committee’s interest in content moderation on online platforms. As you are aware, Meta has produced thousands of documents as part of your investigation and made a dozen employees available for transcribed interviews. Further to our cooperation with your investigation, I welcome the opportunity to share what I’ve taken away from this process.”

“There’s a lot of talk right now around how the U.S. government interacts with companies like Meta, and I want to be clear about our position. Our platforms are for everyone—we’re about promoting speech and helping people connect in a safe and secure way. As part of this, we regularly hear from the governments around the world and others with various concerns around public discourse and public safety.”

The letter, addressed to Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), admits that the social media outlets were pressured by the Biden-Harris campaign to censor information posted online about COVID-19 and the New York Post story which broke about the Biden family’s connection to Burisma Holdings Limited.

“In 2021, senior officials from the Biden Administration, including the White House, repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain COVID-19 content, including humor and satire, and expressed a lot of frustration with our teams when we didn’t agree,” the letter continued.

Zuckerberg admits that Meta had the choice at the end of the day to comply with the demands or not, and Meta chose to follow through with the pressure.

“Ultimately, it was our decision whether or not to take content down, and we own our decisions, including COVID-19-related changes we made to our enforcement in the wake of this pressure. I believe the government pressure was wrong, and I regret that we were not more outspoken about it.”

Zuckerberg further says that if given the opportunity today, Meta likely would not make the same decisions they did in 2021.

“In a separate situation, the FBI warned us about a potential Russian disinformation operation about the Biden family and Burisma in the lead up to the 2020 election,” Zuckerberg writes.

“It’s since been made clear that the reporting was not Russian disinformation, and in retrospect, we shouldn’t have demoted the story. We’ve changed our policies and processes to make sure this doesn’t happen again—for instance, we no longer temporarily demote things in the U.S. while waiting for fact-checkers.”

Zuckerberg concludes the letter to Jordan by mentioning that his own political contributions in the last election were meant to be non-partisan. However, he admits that some “believe this work benefited one party over the other.” As a response, Zuckerberg will not be making a “similar contribution this cycle.”

With this kind of an admittance that Meta platforms did as the government told them to do, we should stay extra weary this election season of what we see posted on social media. For Christians, we need to pray for discernment over the things that we see and hear, asking the Holy Spirit to guide us toward His wisdom and truth.
